On Sunday 5th May 2024 the first Royal Duchy visited the South West, hauled by LMS Stanier Class Black 5 4-6-0 44871 with Class 47 47746 Chris Fudge. She had started off from Bristol making the way along the mainline to Par in Cornwall. I captured her on the return journey as she thundered through Totnes station a little after 7pm. On Monday 1st April 2024 the first railtour to visit Devon in 2024 was The Midland Pullman and she made a routine stop at Torquay as part of the IZ43 05:51 Hull to Paignton service. WOW the colours always amaze me, I saw it for the first time with the naked eye, March last year in the UK and I've had some amazing pictures since, and I'm personally absolutely hooked, thanks for everything that you captured.

Scots Guardsman Heading north, the line descends from Ramsgreave & Wilpshire to Whalley Viaduct - over 4 miles - at around a 1 in 85 gradient.
