January California Kayak Bass Fishing
Join me for a trip out on my Oldtown Sportsman PDL 120 catching bass in California. What a beautiful winter day, water was cold but the bite was present and I managed to land a few. Locked the 3.8 Keitech swimbait in hand most of the day and put some fish in the net.

You got on a good pattern and got some good ones! I love cold water bass fishing. Yeah it’s a little slower, but the quality of fish is always so worth it. That and I don’t mind the lazy style of fishing in the winter haha. Dragging Carolina rigs, drop shots, ned rigs, and the swim bait chuck and wind can be fun.
Also typically less people on the water. I really like cold water bass fishing too.

I love your setup man, I think this is my favorite setup on TH-cam actually, it gave me some ideas for my Topwater. I have a question about the seat risers though…did you notice any changes with the stability of the kayak once you put them in? I’ve always been worried if I add them and I am sitting higher on the kayak that it will make it top heavy and I’ll tip over haha. I’m also interested in how you made your GoPro mount behind your fish finder, and what battery is that?
Thanks, the setup was a lot of fun to put together. For me the stability with the seat risers didn’t change at all, super stable still. Not sure how it would be effected though if I went any higher than the 1 inch size. The 1 inch was plenty to get me in better position and made standing easy enough. The GoPro mount is just a pvc pipe with the GoPro clip glued on one end and a railblaza mount glued on the other end. The battery in this video is just the cheap portable usb battery pack from harbor freight.
@ Awesome man thanks for the reply. Guess I’ll give the seat risers a try then. I’ve got the topwater pdl 120 and have only had it for a few months so I’m still figuring it out and that was the first thing I noticed was how hard it is to stand up haha. Like I said I love what you have done with your kayak and it looks so clean which I appreciate as well. Definitely gonna be going out to the garage this weekend and doing some modding. The rest of your videos are great too, you’ve earned my sub and can’t wait to see more videos.

Oh man yeah that was a bummer when your line snapped. That was a fun day on the water though. We lucked out with the low winds given how stormy California is today.
