Well that's an unexpected but extremely fly deconstruction of the original idea. Would have definitely bounced to this if it was in an actual Speccy/Amstrad/MSX/ST game. edit: ( 2:45 happens ) ... oh, you clever, sexy little bastard. Is that the OPLL? 3:53 onwards: wtf is going on, i can't And was that bit right at the end an attempt at making a quasi-SID like sound? Now I'm wondering if you used the separate sines algorithm in a custom voice on all 9 FM channels plus backup from the square/noise of the AY you could do basically a form of additive synthesis (squares covering high overtones and noise being pitchless wideband) to recreate a sampled track from its 20 or so loudest frequencies. Like one of those black MIDI voice playback things. You could even try it with an actual single-track recording of the original PSG3.
