It's a great game. Did you get it in the Fanatical bundle? Racing lines do make it a lot easier. It's good that you can tailor the difficulty to what you want though.

I've been in contact with the devs and given them a lot of feedback. To be fair to them they have added a load of new features including an arcade mode since I played it, so I was going to give it another go and re-write the review. I probably won't do a new video though but I'll leave some comments in the description to let you know what it's like now.

Thanks Tristan. I'm glad I could help. Leaderboards are always a plus and you are right about the ghosts. I do enjoy racing against ghosts though. It makes chasing times so much more exciting.

I agree. Last update was in July. Perhaps it is because it is quite reasonably priced that they don't want to spend a lot of time on it. That's a shame because if that is the issue they could always put in the changes and raise the price accordingly.

Thanks. I had a chat about it with the devs. They have designed each car to behave differently so it is definitely on purpose and therefore it is skill issues. You need to approach the game with a sim head. They are going to address most of my other concerns in a new patch to be released soon. They are also thinking about adding an arcade and sim option but they haven't decided yet. The good news is that they are listening and making quick changes. :)

Yes, I know what you mean. There are some minor bumps in the terrain that can make you crash if you don't slow down but I wouldn't call them jumps. The majority of the stages are flat. You tend to get more hills on the tarmac sections but that's because they are mimicking proper roads that cars would drive on anyway. I would definitely say that this game doesn't have the experience you are after. Some camera modes make the car appear faster so you could stick with those views to get a better feeling of speed. Drifting wasn't the greatest I have experienced either and was a bit hit or miss. I don't think this game will satisfy those nostalgic rally games of the past. It is still in Early Access though so it would give you an opportunity to ask for those things and they might be willing to implement it.

I was wondering whether I could get my Mum into playing games like these as she loves doing jigsaw puzzles but I think it will be an uphill battle introducing her to Steam.

I gave my mum a Switch lite, packed with games like these, and a few more demanding ones which I knew she could handle. She does have a gaming background, dating back as far as the NES era where she mastered Dr.Mario 😊, but yeah, she never played something like a Legend of Zelda, although she did enjoy cutting the grass and gathering rupees while I would take a break 😂 Anyway, sorry I got a bit sidetracked there, yeah, its best to try to introduce her to a game on a platform she would feel most at home with, mobile phone gaming works for most but there is something about owning a dedicated platform...don't know if that would aply to a non gamer tho. Owning a Steam acc. definitely helps alleviate some of the hustles, so try to ease her in with that first and ask some questions about what makes her avoid gaming. I understand that you didn't write that to really get some answers, but hey, who knows, try it, your mum just might get into some games 😊

@@CROBobo No, that's some really useful advice. Thanks. I think she would sit down at her desk and play on the PC. She has my old PC so it is capable of gaming plus she wouldn't be playing anything intensive anyway. She could then share my library with the new rules for library sharing. I think I would need to give her a bit of encouragement to get her started though. It's a lovely idea though.

Thanks I had a lot of fun. I'll try and pop in once in a while but I'm usually playing and reviewing lots of different games so it's difficult to stay with one game too long. Pitfalls of being a reviewer I guess.

Yes, it was pretty broken on the PC version also, which is where this footage comes from. The last message from the dev was on the 29th May: Hello everyone, We want to let you know that we've heard your feedback and reported issues, and they've all been shared internally. We're currently working on a patch and will notify you as soon as it's released. They have a Discord channel: discord.gg/mergegames That is usually the best place to get news on updates. If you don't have Discord, let me know and I'll take a look.

Yes, a lot of the levels feel like they have been cleverly designed.

I played it on PC but it will look and feel the same on Switch no doubt. I played with a gamepad so should be very similar.

I think they must have fixed the flock management issues then because I didn't see any problems when I played. I agree with you on some of the icons needing more explanation though. I had trouble working out which icon related to what skill.
