I had to move from the house I was living in; therefore, it's gonna take some time to condition my fish properly (sorry if the mix hurts your eyes). Anyways I thought it would be a good time to show what these xanthic dovii look like to this day. As you can see, one of them is in the middle of the peeling process, there are a few that have part of the body white and orange (please don't confuse...

This was a couple of days i introduced the female into this tank; they laid eggs there today again. I´ll post another video soon.

That´s cuz he was wildcaught. There are studies showing how captive raised dovii and other parachromis mouth structure is different because of the different ways they get their food in nature and in captivity.

He looks great. But I think it is wrong to take an animal from nature and put it in such a small tank. You should breed him and then release him back into the wild.

So I just picked up 4 today that are 2”~3” that are white will those change color?
@@patrickpatrick3321 If they are fully white no, they won´t change. Under stress, they might display black markings but those fade away it the cause of stress is removed
Is a white Dovii and Red Dovii basically the same fish? Or are they different from one another like a standard blue Dovii?
Red, white and standard blue as you call it are the same parachromis dovii species. The only difference is how our eyes perceive their color

@@MbSbAquaGamer anywhere you read people say cichlids grow fastest provided clean water (3 50% water changes per week) and good quality good (I'd say varied. It can take more than a year, close to 2 years to reach the size you want

Hi, thanks. There's definitely several differences between the tank raised ones you see on the internet and a wild one. Shape of the mouth is the most marked one
Is this the same as the red dovii or a new gene?
5% in a batch of fry from red parents will be almost completely white or with a few red spots, 65% will be red, and 30% will be regular blue

Are all these species normally found together in your waterways?
Dovii anda citrinellus yes. Amphilophus lyonsi in a different region of Costa Rica. There is only 1 African cichlid there, buttikoferi tilapia. I had to put them all together cuz I had recently moved to a new home
Mauricio Parra what do you usually find with Lyonsi? Is it Managuense?
@@anthonyromano5420 lyonsi are almost extinct in the wild. Common cichlids that inhabited the same waters are Amphilophus altifrons and Amphilophus rythisma
