Wheeler at heart, but snow wheeler to the bone!
What we do: We wheel through the mountains in snow depths that can average 10 feet plus and drifts 20 feet plus. We go for 2, 3, and sometimes 4 days at a time. Our vehicles are set up for comfortable sleeping and they protect us from severe weather. We use gps navigation so we can tell where the road is and to keep from getting lost in snowstorms.
About my cherokee: 1991, 258 ci bottom end, 4.0 top, Automatic or manually controlled automatic. Manually controlled torque converter lock up. Dana 30 front and rear with air operated ox lockers and 30 spline chrome moly axle shafts. Four wheel steering.

My Gambler 500

In the end my 66 year old willy's made it 350 miles and came up 30 miles short of Gamblertown. We battled for three days and nights on the back roads, we had fuel delivery issues for the first day and a half, the battery fell out at some point, the transfer case nearly fell out on day 2, the heat was brutal to both the truck and I but the clutch gave out so we lost our gamble.

These videos are why I made my channel. Great content. Love the tunes and snow wheeling clips. Down in a hole is still legendary. I'm in the cascades, but some time I'd like to make it over to the blues.

@@Snowbatman99you've had so many people waiting for a come back. Keep the kids coming they are missed.
Love that pacific northwest wheeling.
Why go for a land speed record in sage brush territory?
Sure do wish you would make more videos! It's been 3 years too long. Lol your content is the best on youtube. Snowbatman99 come back 😂
They needed a bigger desert. The black rock desert is twice as long. If she had a few more miles without sage brush, she might've been OK. The location should be big enough to support brake/chute failures.
Black Rock has been unusable for years. Richard Noble had a look for the Bloodhound SSC and rejected it.
@1_5RCBiker could be because of the burning man event. The builders are out there in July preparing for the event
They didn’t check the track ahead of time ???????
Why did they make the attempt through there!
I call BS. Path guy follows curves. Vehicles designed to break speed records don't turn when they are going fast.
Craig Breedlove might have had something to say about that... (Ps, he did a U turn at over 600mph)
Seems to me that there is a lot more to this crash than the front wheel failure.....seems there was a failure of parachutes, brakes, airbrakes, or a combination of those.....seems the sponsors or somebody else spent a lot of effort trying to cover up the fact that that car should have never left the track. If the wheel failed alone it would have aided in slowing the car down and keeping it on the track. The lack of transparency is baffling.
Do that with a 5 gallon bucket & a nest the size of a basketball, you’ll hear what driving through a corn field sounds like.
what?
@@NavinF I don’t cut my vegetables. I just bite them.
@@LegitBogusI too am genuinely curious what a 5 gallon bucket has to do with a corn field, and what a 'nest' is.
The car was a death trap. I said that when the first videos came out, back when some rich fool thought he could just cut the wings off a fighter and call it a land speed record car. It takes a team like the Richard Nobel team that did Thrust 2 and Thrust SSC to design a car that's safe at these speeds. I watched Jessi from when she was making rock crawlers on Horsepower TV and I wish she'd never met these fools. I won't forgive them. So now you drove a truck on the evidence and destroyed it. I don't suppose it matters, this is all history now. Sad end to a great woman.
Looks like she ran out off the track into rough part of the salt flats
When you mentioned she was not going very fast. It doesn't take much to destroy an aircraft body which is basically all that it was
Rest in Peace, Jessi.
Interstellar reference?
It’s fantastic what this team was able to accomplish with a small budget , mcclaren spent 10 to 20 times that much and abandoned there project , Budweiser, I’m sure spent a lot on there car. Unfortunately it’s very dangerous on a large budget , And on a smaller budget the danger is a lot higher. That’s why GE didn’t help with jet engine spec s for this project, because increasingly Power on a stock jet with out proper testing is dangerous. ( it appears the parachutes were not deployed , Probably when the front wheel came off everything happened very fast ,a ejection seat like the mcclaren project had would have been nice . With the front wheel having a issue, at that speed ,it probably hopped and rolled in a couple of seconds , on salt you slide more on sand you dig in more , planes don’t try and land at 500 mph . Maybe The salt flats were not in the budget . That’s a short area for 550 mph I guess there is always calculated risk. Just so terrible, this group of men s dream had to take a young lady’s life , It was a short cut to a record, with a woman driver , After 20 years they were out of time , that’s why one of the owner didn’t drive , guess it was her choice , she was seeking some type of reward. She was loving it all the way . RIP Jessi.
such unsessary..why did they not drive the course first? noone in their right mind would use that with all the brush and bumps? why did they not use the salt flats that is barren of brush? I only saw 2 tire tracks where is the 3ed? is the front wheel in the center?
One of the best sidehilling videos I've seen. Very impressive driving.

Why would anyone drive into this stuff at 500 MPH and expect not to crash?
