I think the scheme is a complete failure. The amount of car journeys being undertaken just to return cans/plastic bottles when they were originally being disposed of into recycling bins in people's own homes is utter craziness. Also the amount of large plastic refuse bags which are being used to transport these items to the return vending machines and then just dumped at the site is deplorable. I reckon the system has left us with a less sustainable environment than before it was introduced. It also creates a lot of unhygienic smells and litter issues at each of the sites. Cannot be good for people's health and surely invites rodents.

Its just more tax hidden behind some green environmental billshit

The whole scheme is wrong. We had perfectly good recycle collections from our homes and now have to find ways of storing the containers undamaged and transport them to the nearest working machines. Ridiculous!

This scheme is absolute disgrace. Machines are often full or broken. Part of the containers are not accepted. People just throwing bottles in the bins i stead of recycling. You should be ashamed…

I work at a recycling depot in Canada and find it very interesting how things are done in other countries. We could all use a lesson from the ultra clean Japanese 😂🙏🏻
