He is such an amazing athlete. He looks like pure perfection 👌 👍 🥰
Both have big potential!
Congratulations my bro 🎊 👊🏼
Big up Ross 🤝
Congrats!!!💍
Thanks Reggie!
Bro, I came across this video, I was watching the competition and I didn't even knew who you were on stage, and I ended up rooting for you and I was talking to myself like: "Damn, the guy with red trunks looks insane, they better change him, how is he so far to the right wtf." "natural bodybuilding judging is really weird" "from the back he's easily inside the top 3" "uhh they're moving him he might be on the top 4" Then I saw your placing and was a bit sad, but hey, huge congratulations you were looking great. I think they wanted you with better conditioning. Cheers from a fellow natural bodybuilder from Portugal!
Ah man this is such a cool comment to read! Really appreciate the kind words 🤜🏻🤛🏻 Yeah there are definitely things that could have been improved, I need to start leaner next time & improve off what the judges want! My strengths are from the back but the first impression with the front relaxed has to be better. Hope your training is going well!
Everything is simple and clear. No water. It's unfair that the channel has so few subscribers. Thanks for the wonderful video. Hello from Russia. In two years, my trainer hasn’t explained the squat as well as you did in one video, lol
I really appreciate the comment my man! The subs will come, once the current content is hitting & helping some people thats a win 💪🏼
Great tips and breakdown Shane! Thanks for sharing
Thanks Scott! Let me know if you try any of the tips out 💪🏻
@@sstorey94gonna try the hip flexion stuff as im squatting Thursday 👍
Does the soleus grow well from standing, or is it worth doing seated & standing?
It would still develop as its still getting trained w/ the ankle joint flexing but the gastroc being the bigger muscle might contribute more whereas the gastroc isn't in a great position to produce force in the seated raise so if you wanna isolate it, seated is best!
Enjoyed this Shane! Exciting stuff with the courses/community coaching stuff then!
Thanks Scott! Big push now over the next 8 weeks to get it polished for launch!
Congrats on the PBs & Comp Shane. Really enjoyed the vlog series. ABS is soo good! Them & Sheffield showing the whole sport how its done.
Great video Shane and ABS is wicked. And congratulations on the comp & PBs
What's your fiber intake like usually when not doing a gut cut? 4000 calories is insane! My fiber is like 50g on 2300 calories and I'm thinking I need to start lowering it a lot due to GI distress/bloating.
Thats a pretty decent fibre intake!! I would generally recommend 10-15g per 1000kcals, higher end if your cals are low, low end if they are high. Most gov. health orgs will suggest 30g+ per day for good health. I rarely go below 30g but generally sit between 30-40g. Could have a bit too much volume in your meals or even a very very common one is eating too fast/not chewing so I'd look at that also! 5/10/15 rule of 5 belly breathes, 10 seconds between bites + 15mins to finish the meal can help a lot here.
@@sstorey94 thank you man this is extremely helpful!! I actually do struggle a lot with eating too fast. Never heard of 5/10/15. I’ll incorporate that!
@@sstorey94 btw thanks for this! I tried incorporating this today and I feel WAY fuller WAY faster on less food. & I’m also enjoying my food more since I’m taking my time with it
@@Ask-Ali unreal Ali! So simple but so effective 😅
Great info and insight Shane. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for always sharing your wonderful life. You are an amazing athlete, and I wish you a wonderful day on special Earth Day...🌺🌻🌷🪻🌻🌺
Impressive
Also when you are doing the gut cut could you incorporate some info/your approach on the process into a vlog please Shane.
I’ve had white pudding but turkey pudding sounds another level!!
That elements gym looks soo good!
Great info and interesting insight into programming Shane 👍
Hell yeah.
100% agree on the mindset thing. I think that's a healthy way to go about weight gain. Worst case scenario you take like an extra week to diet down which is pretty much nothing (assuming you're not in contest prep and not on any timeline). I'm the same with eating out too, my weight pretty much sticks.
4.55..those arms!
Great info shane and thanks for answering the question!
That boi is thicc!! Nice muscle mass all around but especially your quads, your quads look flexed even when you aren't flexing them! How tall are you btw, Shane?
Haha thanks Reggie! Chuffed with that, growing the pins has been a big area I wanted to bring up so thanks! I’m ~177cm/5’9ish
Thanks man! That's very helpful. 100% on the viewing food through a social lens to enjoy time with friends and family. I think that can be often missed in this industry. Just curious, is there a reason you don't shave off more than 10%? Would that affect your workouts too much or something? It doesn't happen to me very often at all, maybe like once a month but my friends may make plans that are usually very impromptu like an hour before. So say if I ate perfectly Mon-Saturday and then Sunday night a plan pops up and I've already ate most of my cals so I'll have to end up going over a tad. I'll just either take off a little bit the day after or just move on like you said. also, props on still getting the walks in when it's freezing outside 🤣 & best of luck on the move!!
10% is just really to give some guardrails but you can be more flexible with it if you want. One of the reasons I’d go with that in a dieting phase is as you mentioned, to ensure we’re not taking too much calories away from potentially a training day. Also dipping down too much on one day might cause other challenges with adherence both on the day you steal calories from but also on the day you add them too as you might be so hungry you supercompensate. The majority of the time you won’t notice much of an effect of a night of overeating, main things to look at are the weekly scale average + progress pics then they can let you know if you need to be more on the ball with it 😅
Makes sense! Thanks so much!
Im in two minds on a nutritionist as i have never done a weight cut and now borderline of weight classes. May just take the jump!
Drop me a DM on IG, I can send on my info vid for coaching & see if my nutrition only coaching suits 💪🏻
Thanks brother this was really helpful! I'm gonna incorporate some of this stuff. For me, it's really the wind-down routine. I'm gonna look into reading and the shower and actually winding down 30 minutes prior. If you don't mind I was also wondering how you handle going over calories on a bulk or even a cut. Like for example at social situations. This happens to me sometimes with friends with impromptu plans. It's not usually not a lot. Like 100-400 but sometimes can be 800 or so. Also, I think I saw you using MacroFactor. I'm thinking of switching to it. Do you recommend the coached or collaborative plan
Would recommend the reading for sure. I’m a big fan of David Baldacci books pre bed, kinda crime thriller type deal 🤌🏻 Re the second q, I’ll actually answer that when wrapping up today’s vlog 👀
@@sstorey94 appreciate the rec man. my wife is also really into crime thrillers so this’ll be great. We could both start it. I’ll look into it!
As you near competition Shane, how intense (rpe/rir) would you be pushing accessories? Cheers
Will answer in today’s video!
Do you have any other tips to improve sleep hygiene and getting used to waking up earlier? I've been considering getting into reading too! Do you think it really helps you in falling asleep faster?
May have just answered this question in the video coming out later this evening 👀
@@sstorey94 let’s goooo. Looking forward to it! If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do if you go over your targets on a bulk at the end of the day or week? Not sure if the magnitude changes what you’d do. Say 100-300 or even like 800.
Enjoyable as always Shane! Cool to see how you’re going to manage the peak with everything going on and also good insight to how you track/plan stuff. Good takeaways
Just seeing it as another training block is probably gonna help! Not setting huge goals for this one, looking to have fun more than anything 😅
The goat
My man 🤝
how to learn to wake up early 😞😞
Today’s vlog will answer this Q 👀 keep an eye out!
Really enjoyed this! How many steps/day are you aiming for usually? Looking forward to future vlogs.
Thanks Ali! On a low day probably 8k, most days I get around 10-12k, helps a lot with such a sedentary job 😅
@@sstorey94 thanks man! Recently found your pod too. Really enjoyed the one with Milo Wolf. Also the full day of eating!
@@Ask-Ali Hope you enjoy the podcasts, they are fun to record! If you have any guest requests let me know & I’ll do my best to get them on 💪🏼
Appreciate it man! Hmm.. I was gonna say Max Coleman or Dr. Pak but you recently had them on. I know Martin Refalo recently had a study come out on training to failure vs. RIR that was really well done so that may be pretty timely! Otherwise, Eric Helms is always fun to listen to as well!@@sstorey94

Loved the video Shane, great strategies for moving training days and exercises 👍
It’s definitely something I struggle with too Shane, actually backing off when my body is telling me too! Good video but sod wrapped squats, the wraps scare me 😂
The fear of regression is worse than the fear of pain 😂
This was so enjoyable to listen to.
Especially with the tripod 😂 its a scary thing but i guess it gets easier. Im new to recording myself at the gym as well.
Graded exposure my friend! My tripod for the camera is fucking huge, its prob the worst part of the process hahah
Great information Shane! Thanks for sharing
Yes sir 🫡🫡🫡
I have nuclear reactor in my basement
Gotta handle them with a set of tongs
whats wrong with that
You'll only get it if you have a set of knee sleeves my man 😅
Nice work!!
Getting there!
Looking massive and super strong
Thanks my man!
How high are you calories now? And are u doing and cardio on the bulk, such as a daily step goal?. Thanks, vid’s are fire 🔥
Thanks Neil! Calories are ~4400-4600, loosely tracking the last few weeks really as my meals are pretty much the exact same every day 😂 doing no formal cardio but keeping steps between 8-10k, higher on rest days just to fill the void left by not training haha
Thanks for the response. Yeah steps on a bulk are a must for me now. I feel like doing them also helps body composition in a off season especially when food is high. When you say loosely tracking. Are u still weighting out each meal or do u know the portion sizes off by heart? Thanks again.
@@neilalterio1867 same here man, helps digestion a lot as well as just feeling better in general! Helps to keep away the sluggish feeling some people will get gaining! Oh yeah I weigh everything so that keeps everything on point. I'm so used to using a weighing scales I could have a pizza, put in on a plate then realise I just weighed a slice even though its an "untracked" meal😂
Haha yeah. Now that I’ve been using a scale for a long time I can’t live without it anymore😂. Thanks for the tips aswell. Appreciate it
