I'm a 35 year old stage 4 cancer patient who is trying to make the best of a bad situation while sharing this human experience with my friends, family, and strangers on the internet.
Cancer is a devastating disease both mentally and physically. It's also extremely common, and yet mostly discussed quietly. I was encouraged to see other stage 4 cancer vlogs, and believe in this is a healing tool.
If I can help myself, my family, my friends, or anyone on the planet understand more or feel better about the concept, then I'll be happy with the results of making these cancer vlogs.
I cover topics like:
--What it's like to have cancer
--How I was diagnosed with cancer
--Mental health
--Immunotherapy treatment
--Relationships & cancer
--Healthy support systems
--Living with cancer
If you have any feedback or suggestions on topics you'd like to see covered, please do comment on a video!
At a minimum, this is cheaper than therapy.

Why I Choose Optimism Today: Stage 4 Cancer Vlog
Being a metastatic melanoma patient has taught me a lot about how to receive devastating news in life. It doesn't mean I'm happy to have had cancer for all my 30's, or that optimism in the face of a bad situation guarantees any success, but it has helped me find purpose and recalibrate whenever I am put in these situations.
If you have cancer, or even if you're just feeling stressed about anything in the world, this video is for you. As I've done more of these cancer vlogs, I've come to realize that they're not topic-limiting, even if cancer is just the vehicle for the message.
Thanks for watching, and see ya next time.

Cancer Update: I Got Rhabdo, We Paused Treatment, and it Sucked!
มุมมอง 1K9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Little bit of a clickbait thumbnail - I got rhabdo, we paused treatment, but now things are back up and running. I mostly wanted to get this video out to provide an update to the kind/concerned people (of which there are a surprisingly large amount!) who had asked me what was going on. Basically I ran out of gas for a while, both medically and mental health wise. This has been a recurrent theme...
Cancer Update: My Earth-Shaking Surgery (& More)
มุมมอง 1.4Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Clickbait title aside, I legitimately had a 4.7 earthquake happen right as I was being sedated for surgery. As a stage 4 cancer patient who has gone through countless medical procedures, this had to be among the strange things I've experienced. Well, that and my mental health taking a considerable shift that I've been trying to achieve since my first melanoma diagnosis over 6 years ago. In this...

If you or a person you love has cancer, check out Manta Cares: mantacares.com/ Manta is a fantastic organization that I've partnered with to further the conversation about cancer patient mental health & provide valuable resources to anyone going through this shitty human experience. Talking About a New Cancer Diagnosis
มุมมอง 1.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Talking about cancer is rarely easy - especially when someone has just been diagnosed. In this stage 4 cancer vlog, I discuss my new diagnosis, as well as a friend's. It is completely normal to be in shock, to feel alone, and confused following a diagnosis. These feelings will probably intermittently follow you throughout your cancer experience. I'm on my third diagnosis, and while I've learned...
First Week of Cancer Treatment: Stage 4 Melanoma Vlog
มุมมอง 1.1K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
For my third time in cancer treatment, I'm doing BRAF blockers orally every day for a year. In this stage 4 cancer vlog, I describe how my experience has been for the first week, and how my approach to being a stage 4 cancer patient is slowly evolving as I accept the gravity of what appears to be a chronic diagnosis. I'm making these treatment videos so that people who are worried about doing a...
My First Day of Cancer Treatment - Stage IV Melanoma Vlog
มุมมอง 1.3K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Because I get to do oral BRAF blockers rather than an IV infusion of immunotherapy or a different treatment, I thought it would be cool if I discussed what I encountered during my first day taking these pills. Granted, I don't know if this is a traditionally cool thing to do... but it's a stage 4 cancer vlog, so I guess we have to work within the parameters. Either way, today I discuss how I ha...
Treatment Plan for my Stage 4 Melanoma Recurrence
มุมมอง 1.4K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
Despite the United States medical system doing its best to slow down the inevitable, I've been diagnosed with a stage 4 recurrence and will begin treatment this week. In this stage 4 cancer vlog, I'll describe what the treatment plan is (PD-1 blockers for a year), what it might mean in terms of the short and long-term physical ramifications, and how I'm feeling at the moment. Talking about canc...
I Have Cancer Again (Again) - Stage 4 Melanoma Recurrence
มุมมอง 4.3K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
It turns out that I'm really, really good at developing cancer. I have other marketable skills, but they don't keep a stage 4 cancer vlog going like this one, so my body decided to lean into it apparently. All kidding aside, this sucks, and I'm going to need a lot of help and support to get through this for a third time. In this vlog, I describe how I'm feeling, what the diagnosis, prognosis, a...
I Might Have Cancer Again (Again)
มุมมอง 2.5K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
Each time a cancer patient has a scare of recurrence, it can turn their life upside down. I've chronicled a couple scares of mine following a stage 4 metastatic melanoma recurrence in 2023, but this one has reached the next level of being a serious threat: the scan I just did showed hypermetabolic activity, meaning I have to do a lymph node biopsy. As of right now, it seems like there is a very...
Everybody vs. Cancer: Dealing With Uncomfortable Emotions
มุมมอง 6235 หลายเดือนก่อน
Cancer is a universally bad experience, and no one is rooting for cancer patients to succeed. In spite of this, there are a lot of uncomfortable feelings that cancer patients and their loved ones encounter throughout the diagnosis, treatment, remission or death processes. The reality is that because cancer is such a universal experience (over 50% of the world will be diagnosed with cancer at so...
I'm One Year Into Remission From Stage 4 Cancer
มุมมอง 7475 หลายเดือนก่อน
This stage 4 cancer vlog is a celebratory one, a culmination of many others that have documented my journey as a young adult stage 4 cancer patient. Here's something I wrote about it earlier today: Today, I’m exactly one year into remission from cancer. Again. It turns out that it wasn’t illegal to get cancer twice as I purported between 2019-2023 during my first remission from stage a stage 3c...
May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month: How You Can Help
มุมมอง 2206 หลายเดือนก่อน
Cancer awareness - specifically skin cancer awareness or melanoma awareness - are incredibly important to me as a cancer patient, and the world as a whole. We have tremendous education around the importance of sunscreen, protective covering, getting your skin checked, and yet still, nearly 10,000 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every day in the United States alone. As a stage 4 melanoma p...
A Bittersweet Cancer Milestone
มุมมอง 5476 หลายเดือนก่อน
As a stage 4 cancer patient who has survived two advanced diagnoses and gone into remission twice, I have a lot of personal milestones and important dates relating to cancer on my calendar. Theoretically, none would have been as important as 04/24/24. This was supposed to be my 5 year remission mark from my first diagnosis. Unfortunately, life (and being a cancer patient) doesn't always go acco...
11 Months Into Remission From Stage 4 Cancer!
มุมมอง 4356 หลายเดือนก่อน
Every day that a cancer patient is in remission is a wonderful existence relative to the alternative. Like any recovery period, remission from stage 4 metastatic melanoma is going to have its ups and downs. The most recent few weeks have been busy and stressful, hence me not being able to post a stage 4 cancer vlog in a while, but I got around to it - albeit with a black eye from playing basket...

Being Diagnosed With Cancer as a Young Adult - 5 Things to Know
I'd like to pull your lever anyday.
But in all seriousness, I needed this. Love you bud.
It takes strength to share your journey as you are walking through it. Prayers for you and all those whose lives you are touching through your posts. 🙏⚓️🇿🇦
Well said❤ I got diagnosed with chronic cancer/NET cancer. October 2022 and I/we as a family are trying to keep living day by day with a positive attitude! I believe a positive mindset helps a lot! Hugs and a big F to the C!
You are such a great speaker and make so much sense. Thank you for the words and encouragement, as always. I don’t have cancer thankfully but this still really applies to me at the moment.
Mike, your strength of character is manifest in your attitude, your decency and compassion, and your sense of service to others. Thanks for sharing how you continue to build that strength, how you make your choice. I always appreciate this space you’ve made.
It’s a good way to look at all life’s difficulties. You’re right though. That cloud is always there, we just have to let the sun peak through.
🙏🙏🙏
Wow…YOU are so articulate. Very talented in communicating‼️
Thanks for this. It really did me good. The existential trauma of a cancer diagnosis is something I don't think many people understand. But it's life-changing. Thanks for talking about it. And all the very best to you.
Thank you for the reminder to remain optimistic. It is a choice we all can make. I wish you a long, healthy, cancer-free life. I am sending love and hugs your way.❤❤
❤🙏 we are wishing it all away. Big hugs 🤗
Appreciate you ❤️
Thank you, after Tuesday this helps.... Continued prayers, healing vibes and positive thoughts to you...
We just have to make the best of the worst and hope things improve. All the good vibes your way 💙
My grandmother is also suffering from stage 4 uterine sarcoma and it has spread to her lungs. She is 79 years old doctors are reluctant to do chemo as it is too risky. They’ve suggested alternative treatments like immunotherapy but the cost is way too much I cannot afford that much. She is my only family. She has raised me. I don’t want to lose her but I cannot find any other way. I’m just a student I don’t know how to collect so much funds. It is $30k (25lakh Indian rupees) we’re from India. If anyone could help me find a way or suggest me some other alternative treatments? Pls do help🙏🙏🙏😭
If you did something simple as videoing this inside your car, the sound quality would be perfect. I know it sounds cheesy, but it works.
OK, first off I would like you to find a better room with less echo. This makes your voice sound more lower pitched if there’s no echo next I’d like to dress I love the fact that you’re telling us your story and it’s being videoed and it’s out there for the public to see, but it’s kinda like you just blew over what made you better like what actually was the medicine or whatever it is that you took they made you better and it needs to be said 510 times needs to be written on a sign and held up with your handsthere’s people hanging onto every word that you’re saying and you’re not emphasizing what was healed. I love your show. Keep it up.

Looking good mike, so nice to see and hear from you, mthqnks formthe uldates.
This isn't a simple roadblock, it's the beginning of the end..Yes, I'm still here commenting. Yes, you can keep a positive attitude and not let it bother you. But yes...The cancer will still be your imminent demise.
Comments like this need to be kept inside your head as they don't help anyone.
@@nickywilks7928 I actually agree with all of that, but I'm still going to write and post comments like the above. Because it isn't my obligation to help Mike out nor was it my purpose of writing the comment.
Ok but you are not helping with your comments. If you can't post anything nice don't post anything at all.
Man, I hope you get all the joy in the world from me dying, if that's the case. Though you clearly want no part in being a happy human being. Good to see ya again, though 😘
Keep up the engagement, Chaz! He monetizes off your comments. 😘 #fcancer and #fchaz
We need to understand that whenever a cancer patient goes MIA, they are potentially dealing with more than usual, and to be respectful of that. Please try to never feel guilty for deviating from the norm. Good job in helping your body to recover from the health setback. May everything fall fully back into, and remain in, balance for you moving forward. ☯️☯️☯️☯️ Karen
I was wondering how you are doing. Good to hear from you. Big hugs ♥️🙏
So glad you are recovering! I love your advice- treat it like it’s your job. That’s exactly right. Yes, something unexpected happens and sets off a cascade of consequences. And, it’s so stressful to have to pause treatment! I’m glad it wasn’t for very long. Don’t feel bad about not being able to post. Everybody who comes here is supportive of your well being. I hope you are feeling stronger and better everyday, and getting back to your daily rhythm. 💐❤
Never feel bad for looking after yourself before us. Depression happens to the best of us. I hope you get to enjoy playing some more basketball soon 🏀
Welcome back and thanks for the update! Glad to hear you're cleared for some hoops, and are back on track after your treatment setback. You're an inspiration and your posts are very much appreciated.
Mike you look better than ever. Keep doing what you are doing and you will be making vlogs for years to come 🙂
Great to see you (:
Appreciate it - thanks for watching and caring :)

Thanks for the update! Sometimes in life, we need to take a step back before we can leap forward-progress isn't always linear!
Great to see you..😊
Thanks! ❤️
Mike, good job in overcoming rhabdo and getting back on track. May this season riding the cancer rollercoaster get easier. I wish you a long, cancer-free life. I am sending love and hugs.❤❤
For all the crap you go through you look great Mike. Glad to see you posted. We miss you.
I consider myself to be an above-average-looking stage 4 melanoma patient 😬 Thanks for still stopping by when I do post - should be more frequent going forward ❤️
I'm glad you are not dead
It does seem to beat the alternative. Thanks for checking in :)

Hey Mike, I went through a monster back surgery about a year ago because of the tumors on my spine. It wiped me out. The exhaustion felt like running a marathon every day. Don’t sweat gaps in your post. We are with you and fully understand. As a Stage 4 cancer patient as well, your videos are so uplifting and help me so much. I am super grateful for your positive outlook and your never give up attitude. Hope all goes well!!

Nutrition education, alternative options such as holistic treatment, financial help and an open mind . Most oncologists REFUSE to be optimistic and think outside of the box. How can we have hope when they don’t?
You're such an inspiration! I'm not giving up my fight. I'm gonna fast as long as i can until my lump is gone! To Good be the Glory! 🙏🙏🙏
Firstly, wishing you all the best and a speedy recovery. We were very interested in reading about your treatment journey, as we are facing a similar challenge with our beloved cat, Zilli, who is battling cancer. Zilli means the world to us, and we want to give her the best chance possible. Our veterinarians advised against using anti-parasitic drugs for her, but if there is hope, we are willing to consider it. Did your doctors recommend these medications, or did you try them on your own? Have you genuinely noticed a positive effect?
Hey Mike, Just checking in and sending you well wishes. I hope you are feeling better. I have been keeping you in my thoughts!
Thank you for sharing your story mike!
@Linn_Laugh_Love Hi, My father is 60 years old now, and 15 days back we got to know he is suffering from stage 4 melanoma cancer and doctor saying to take immunotherapy, we are worried about whether he can bare with medicine power, can you please suggest your opinion. Can we go for medicine and what is the food diet need to follow please suggest 🙏
I'd like you to come and tell us if you're still here. I have melanoma, it hasn't been staged yet. My brother died of it 4 years ago, started stage 2, chemo, radiation, immuno. He died anyway. So for me, I'd like to know if you made it.
Hey Kepi - that sucks to hear about both your brother and yourself. Melanoma is sneaky and aggressive, and if it doesn't respond to treatment it's a rough road. I'm somewhere in the middle. I keep getting and keep responding well to treatment. Right now I'm on maintenance treatment and monitoring but I have no active disease in my body. It's a very fortunate place to be in for someone who was diagnosed at essentially stage 4 almost 7 years ago. But I don't take it for granted, I'm lucky and push myself hard in my self-advocacy and routine. Long way of saying I'm still here and hope you get through staging/treatment well. The medicine is better than ever :)
@@Linn_Laugh_Love Thank you for replying. So glad you are still here!!!!
Of course! As long as I'm around, I'm here to chat - and the hope is that's for a long time. Let me know how your staging/treatment goes; it's never easy, and talking about it is tough, so I'm here to listen if need be.

Cancer is dependent what cancer you have and where is the tumors located
Thyme oil (diluted) would have done the trick in 2 to 3 weeks
It's not true that cancer does not care about what you eat, cancer cells are fueled by glucose and glutamine and those come with diet and lifestyle. It is true that even with the best diet you could still die. By the way my father has to go trough immuno therapy as well, thanks for the video
