yes, MSI does sell towers with that cooler. Also, you can order a custom configured build. If it was custom built, it wouldn't surprise me the builder forgetting it.

There is a small chance you are right, but the fact that there was no thermal paste anywhere on the CPU, not even under the clamp indicates that there was never any there in the first place. Unless the customer put the cpu through an ultrasonic cleaner or something, which seems like a lot of work.

It could be or it could be the CPU doesn't like the memory speed.

I agree, it's crazy that this could leave a factory in this state.

Power supply tested dead, you could smell the damage whenever it was connected to ground power. I wish I still had it to take apart and actually look at what was damaged inside.

I try, but it is not always possible to have a video like this. It's nice when I don't have to cut the video to pieces due to interruptions.

No, if you have getting this problem with DDR4 then something else is going on. Either MOBO or CPU Related

With time and patience, I believe anyone can do these repairs. Heck, I am of the mindset, if I can do it anyone can.

When I had this in the shop, I didn't have an ultrasonic at that point. Got one now! And actually, now that I think about it, This computer is back in my shop today lol 9 Months later for an upgrade lol.

@SpecVengeance ultrasonic baths are a lifesaver. I worry about doing further damage when scrubbing. I hope the upgrade treats you well. 🙏

@@VACcine710 Without the proper chemicals it can be a problem, but proper care during the process keeps things sane.

Dead Caps all over the board generally means something is shorting directly to the ground plane. Find that and you will have an answer!

There is no such thing as to old for this stuff. The only thing that anyone is to old for is not trying new things.

You NEVER touch anything on the motherboard while the computer has power running to it. If the computer is sending you right to bios then the motherboard is not seeing the operating system on your Hard Drive/SSD

I was not able to locate a replacement, I was only able to move the functioning port over for them.

The only thing that I have had consistently work is underclocking the memory, Going down to the speed that is right below what the ram is rated for has seemed to be consistent. The other thing is just trying new Bios updates as they are released. Some day this problem might go away, but for now, we have to live with it.

Lenovo has dropped in quality recently, not sure why. But some of their stuff is REALLY bad, but some is still decent.

Resetting the bios with an update would force the CPU/Motherboard to memory relearn. I hope it is up and running for you.

There is not much more you can do at this point. Might be an issue with the motherboard. If you have pulled the ram down to just the single stick in slot 2.

The micro-code that is on the processor that reads the memory was poorly written. So it causes issues. If this doesn't work it might be an issue with the motherboard.

If it is just 1 light and the fans are spinning at 100% there might be something else going on.

@@SpecVengeance I got it working once by loosening the heatsink, cleaning thermal paste under the cpu with hand sanitizer, using bios flashback, putting fans cables on more tightly and cleaning the ram slots with air. Somehow it booted went through the whole Q LED check, restarted itself and got into windows. The american megatrends screen said something like” New CPU installed! Please enter Setup to configure your system.” I messed it up again like a dumbass by getting liquid metal thermal paste on my motherboard. Cleaned it up pc starts now, but im not stuck on the dram light again.

Update: Got it working doing the previous steps again 😁

Most folks who do this have no clue about electrical circuits or what damage they can do. They will watch a video and think, Yeah I can do that.

Not usually. There might be certain situations where it will, but generally no.

@SpecVengeance found out i need to update bios, which is also giving me trouble, followed a guide to the T and the best I get is some flashes from the Bios button for maybe 30 seconds then it stops, off to buy a new USB stick now

@@limozinis7854 Make sure it is formatted correctly. If the Bios light is flashing that means it can see the bios file on the flash drive and just cant read it or it is the wrong bios for the mobo.

@SpecVengeance currently have the flash drive formatted as FAT32 and the file is a .bin file and is the only thing on the flash drive (8gb USB 2.0), both the USB and the bios light flash for about a minute then the whole thing turns off and doesn't not reboot itself, after this just to make sure I have installed all pieces and turns on but the Dram light turns on and will not turn off, which is the same as before I tried to update bios.

It is not possible sadly.

HP has sold multiple printers that come with an instant ink subscription "For Free". During the activation process it will flat out tell you that if you activate the subscription you will no longer be able to use standard cartridges, that if you stop using the service you will need to purchase a different printer. They will sell the printer for super cheap and it is clearly stated on the box "Requires HP Instant Ink Subscription"

@SpecVengeance that info is true but you stated in your video that if you un subscribe from your subscription then your printer is no good anymore. I was just a instant ink subscriber from a hp deskjet 2852e and yes then you know the instant inks get blocked if you cancel your services including they are coded to that specific printer and as soon your services are cancel you have to order a original hp ink cartridge and to be sure your printer ink supplie in advanced settings isn't turn on from your subscription after cancel The Cartridge Protection feature allows cartridges to be permanently protected for use in only one fleet of products or product to help prevent theft. If, after cartridges have been protected, they are moved to a device outside the fleet (fleet based) or to a different printer (printer based), these cartridges will be identified as protected and will have to be replaced to continue printing. Cartridge Protection OnOff Note: When you turn on this feature, all cartridges installed in the printer will be protected. However, if you turn off this feature again, these cartridges will remain protected. Only cartridges installed afterwards will not have cartridge protection enabled.... hope this helps and you will need your printer report paper that has the printers ip and printer pin to get into these settings. Mine was on but I shut it off and I am currently on my second set of hp 67XL inks black and color being a cancel instant ink cartridge subscription. Which im actually thinking of goin back because it cost 120$ from hp.com for 2 black 2 color so far when it only cost me 40$ for 600pages plus

So there are SO many other companies that are out there, that it is not going to be hard to find alternative parts. I already was not recommending their cases since the fire incident so the MOBO's and PSU's are now on the short list of things I won't buy. No company is perfect, but some companies are the worst.

​@SpecVengeance That statement is completely valid. In retrospect, I realize there will be alternative businesses that DO offer NZXT components regardless. Me personally, I'll stay away from NZXT's pre built PC options for obvious reasons, but parts like cases and fans, I might just stick with because I personally enjoy the product being offered. That doesn't mean that I don't agree with what you're doing, because this goes to show that you've got plenty of goodwill in you! I've got nothing but respect 🫡
