Well, I can tell you for me this is my type of game since I was young, I played Skyrim for almost a decade before I had a chance to get better gear and hardware in order to play other games. I stick with RPGs most of the time and if they're fantasy ones, even better

And it's a valid point, despite the fact I'm enjoying playing the game itself, I do agree the optimization before its release should have been much better

@@inayesel I wasn't romancing him although we were on high approval and I genuinely found this kind of ending fitting for the story that was unfolding throughout my game :-) What bummed me out was an absence of the lines from the companions for this outcome

This happened to me by accident and I was like “WTF there is a timer” so I reloaded and took out Cazador before going after any of the other enemies.

well, you got a better intuition than mine, kuddos! 😅 (for the record: I don't mine at all to get to see these scenes as I love to explore the game and its different outcomes, in similarity with what happened with Blood of Lathander where I basically triggered an apocalypse mid game)

First off, let me just say that I LOVE the plot in the first paragraph, I would absolutely go that route if there was one! 😁 And yeah, I heard some bad stuff here and there about the so called "ascended Astarion", and was a big no no as soon as I realized where this was going. I will consider it in an evil/durge playthrough tho! 😈

Completing the ritual is a very-very evil thing, very much worthy of Mephistopheles, who devised it :-) Raphael is such a wannabe every time he talks ill about his dad :-))

@@karimovkarim6351 I'm not talking about letting them live, I'mspeaking specifically about allowing Astarion to Ascend. Just killing them without him Ascending kills them without sending their souls to the Hells.

It'd never work... Cazador would never believe he was going to loose the fight.

it happened to me too ! i was romancing so i wanted to be supportive. he asked for help (just like here 1:35), and i asked him what does he need, which is the WRONG ANSWER AF, THERE IS NO GOING BACK

@@zireael-8942 I did the same thing, I was like oh what do you need? Thinking that was the path to go. And then I was like oh crap no I'm not doing that, you shouldn't ascend. The scene was so emotional and I was so moved by it, but then I got hit with "Your companion has left your party permanently" 🥲🥲🥲

@@zireael-8942 I succeeded to avoid the ascension on my first playthrough (I had an insight check, then a persuasion check) and I wasn't sure to remember wich option I choose while watching this video. I was just like "I don't think I choose the too-much-helping option, because my Tav was really Good in addition of not romancing him." Thanks for your confirmation XD I have a new playthrough with a romanced Astarion and I don't want to f**k up things...

Omg what?! So the secret to end the battle faster was killing one of them all along?! 😂 Always learning...

I got accidentally spoiled and heard some nasty stuff about Ascended Astarion (although I didn't know what the term meant exactly), so seeing all that thirst for power while killing everyone was a big no no. Had no clue tho it would end up so messy, but hey... I reloaded in the end 🤣

@@inayesel personally, my goals align towards the Ascended version lmao. But the spawn Astarion is the better version. He is genuine and will tell you he loves you. He will treat you like an equal. The ascended is more manipulative and dominant. He will treat you more like a prized possession.

It requires a long line of different previous choices ( to legitimately sow some seeds of doubt in him). Otherwise he will not obey you willingly. I have not experimented with this personally, as I play non-good characters and would not deny Astarion this opportunity, but what I have seen from other playthroughs, without a long line of previous virtue-signalling choices, he will not be fine with you trying to dictate his choices.

​@@inayeselWhy not? You like your companion better than empty virtue-signalling. That's perfectly healthy. His ascension has no negative consequences to you if you are not romancing him. If you do, it is a trade-off, win some and lose some.

@@velinas_in my game, similar to the similar event in Shadowhearts story, I didn’t have to persuade him at all just encourage him to make a better choice. I didn’t force him and he chose to not finish the ritual. He thanks you later

@@whisper_dvm5157 You have to run a good-aligned playthrough, very much so to have that response. He wants to survive, more so than any other of your companions. He doesn't value morality for its own sake. You can teach him that he must follow your command if he wants to survive. He will trust you less but accept that he has to keep masking to ensure his survival. He has done so much worse than this in the past, and had much, much worse things done to him by so many others. Shadowheart is an entirely different matter. She has had her memory wiped mostly clean so many times that she hardly knows herself. A very different situation. Promoting self-discovery is the best thing you can do for her. Without shaming, pushing or forcing. Just aid her in retrieving herself. This can go either way in such case, even with good approval. Party actions overall until that point seem to matter a lot. Would have to run subsequent playthroughs to more carefully evaluate just how much.
