Maybe try wax or parchment paper? I know it isn’t a fixative (aka your ideal solution), but I’m guessing the pastels won’t stick to it as much as the regular paper.

Ohhh Viola I LOVED that sketchbook process video !!! 🥹 It literally motivated me to get back to my own sketchbook and have fun without overthinking it or judging the results! Thank you for that 🫶🏻

The video is very great, lovely drawings, i love the loose and spontaneous style. I 'm just careful about the idea to fill a sketchbook very quickly, because it could promotes the wrong idea that a sketchbook HAVE to be filled in short time. I saw so many videos promoting fastness, instead to just take our time to fill it. Because i think that art is about making some pause sometimes, to recharge inspiration. But the artistic community imposes some rules as "we SHOULD draw everyday", while everydoy have his own rythm. Everybody's not the same. I remember a woman saying that she was tired mentally, because she forced herself to draw everyday, because of the influence of the artistic community. And another woman replied "yes but you HAVE to draw everyday, even if it's only quick drawings'". I wasn't ok with that. Because it serves to nothing to draw, if we don't put our heart and soul in it. Because art should come from our intuitivity, not only about technicity. So all that to say, that yes, you made a wonderful work about your own sketchbook, and i saw you have this intuitive flow, so it's great. But i just wanted to remember to people, that they weren't forced to fill a sketchbook quickly. It's like we don't take the time anymore. A artist have the chance to be able to live in a slower way, but the artistic community promotes the idea of fastness, instead of the idea of well-being. While to be an artist, it's exactly to enjoy life in a natural rythm and way, but finally we don't respect our own timing anymore. We prefer to submit oursefl to youtube influence, that ask fast and sensational content, in order to be congratulated and followed, instead to make how we really are. Because we are afraid to not be seen, if we don't post fast contents. It's true that saddly, when artists post videos about fast things, it attract immediately, while it produce illusion about art. Art shouldn't be quick, art should be full of soul. So maybe, the thing is not about filling a sketch quickly or being fast : but to make inspirational drawings, in a slow way. I don't think that fastness should be an artistic parameter, and saddly this artistic community make it as the principal parameter, but they are wrong. So people, don't forget to respect your own timing. It's not because you see many fast videos on youtube, that it mean that we have to do the same. Sometimes i wish to see people promoting the idea of slowing down, instead to fast down. But don't worry Viola, it's not against your video, because i really appreciate your sponteanous style (i actually try to make like that too). SO i even subscribed to your channel. Its just that i wanted to remember to people to not make quickly, only because they saw you made it quickly yourself. But to follow their own rythm and their inner voice. To be themselves, which should be the paramater of an artist.
