    Question: What was the deciding factor to go with Pink versus sprayed foam for insulation? Foam seems to secure or solidify the structure and eliminate any air pockets that pink does nor totally secure? I have used both! curious

    • @JimBennett1370
      @JimBennett1370 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I can't remember the exact prices. It's in a previous video about spray foaming. Basically the cost of fibreglass is around $0.55 a square foot while spray foam is around. $1.60 per square foot. That only gives me 1" in depth while I would need a minimum of 2"-3". The cost is an awful lot more and I think per inch spray foam has only an R value of about 5. Check my insulation video for exact numbers. It was important for me to spray everything underneath at 2" because I didn't want rodents living under but as for the walls and ceiling that would not be an issue since everything is new and there is no access for them in the walls.

    Nice video. I would be using electric shift and start pushing the snow banks back. Start low with the blade and slowly raise it as you are going into the stack and you can push it back and also stack it much much higher. especially when it freezes and you have a base. I have 3 Honda 400 AT units here in Colorado and can stack snow from driveways like yours really easy. Try putting your machine sideways in your driveway and using manual shift and plow your banks back as you have a frozen base to keep traction on. Enjoy<😎>

    • @JimBennett1370
      @JimBennett1370 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes that would work if the blade was wider. Ive done that before when I used a plow truck when I had a snow plow business. The blade on the ate is the same width as the machine so it won't work that way. I could turn the blade sideways and go side to side and just push off the driveway a little at a time but that would be to time consuming. Will probably just get my neighbour down with a payload if the driveway gets any narrower. Thanks for the tip anyways.

  • @gregdcross
    @gregdcross 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Light, dry powder slow can easily be plowed by an ATV. But wet, heavy snow is a no go. ATVs don't have enough ground pressure to get the traction to push heavy snow or push back snow banks that have froze.

      @JimBennett1370 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes you are right. It seems like in my area we only get light fluffy snow. In the event of a heavy wet snow I have a guy down the road with a payload. So far I haven't needed his help thankfully

    Sterted with 600 watts on 6 mono cell panels, 1 outback flexmax 80 , 400 amp hours of shot used 6 volt battery that came out of a electric floor scrubber and had 2 1000 pure sine vanner inverters. Used the shit battery bank for3 years , ran everything off the system except the well pump , that needs 220 . The genset is used for that . 10 years later I have 1200 watts solar , same 2 inverters, same genset and an extra flexmax 80 for a back up . The battery bank is at around 200 amp hours . The number 1 killer of a system is two much draw off the battery bank and not the right charger set up . I wanted to get a midnight because of the water and wind deal . But already invested in the outback and o e thing i learned was if it works , stick with it and if you can have a backup .

      actually I did get lead acid. The guy at the solar place had a bunch of reasons none of which I could remember. I think mostly because I am not 100% living at my off grid home full time yet there could be a problem with temperature. I don’t really remember his reasoning but it is done now. I just went through 40 straight days of overcast, low was 3.0kw. Glad you actually get sun. Good call on the gen you could have gone larger 7kw gen should only run at 5kw so 90amp charge plus small home load. I have an 8.2kw gen on lpg at 6200w a steady 60hrz. If you have a eg4 chargeverter you wont need to be precise. Do you have a Eg4 6000xp? I am going to buy a 500g lpg tank the mid winter refills to the 123gal are sketchy. If you run 2 inverters charge rates get close to 10kw. I bought newer Lead carbon agm, I have run my 48kw down to 6kw with no issues could have gone to 45kw, no bms, charge at -30c, can keep them indoors, won't ignite like a lithium, no off gases, nothing to break or fault they just degrade over 15 years, only maintenance is full float charge every 30days.
