iconic and wonderful camera.

I bought mine in 2013 soon after it first came out. I’m more a casual photographer but found myself using it less and less as iPhone cameras got better and I didn’t bother taking a separate camera with me. I ended up selling it in 2017 and kind of regret it now. While iPhone photos are great these days, there is something about the look of photos from a larger sensor and better optics that Apple can’t match.

If you are going to ask us to guess what the lens is, and how much it cost, probably not a good idea to put the frickin' name and cost in the title of the video!🙄

Just came across this video. I love to take photos with my regular "gear" but need something that I have with me all of the time. You've convinced me :-)

Also had it and was pretty good, but nothing compares to my powershot s40 at 4 mp!!! One of The first digicameras. Still the best foto’s I ever took on a compact camera I bought the Sony to replace the broken s40 but never had the same result😢

This is main reason from holding me back in buying one.

Maybe the best recipe for jpeg straight out of camera l think.

Why not the mk iii

M43 is not dead. Absolutely the best format for macro street and nature photography. I think the M43 format is coming back especially for older photographers who want super light weight rigs that are super compact affordable and incredible features and some pretty respectable quality. It’s absolutely under rated for all the street photographers who want small size.

Excellent review. Covers all the aspects of the camera in an informative way. The one thing I would like to see added, if it could be done without adding to the size, would be weather/dust sealing.

I feel validated in my choice. I’ve also been looking for a video where the EM1 Mark II is discussed in a more “normal” way. Earlier this year, I photographed a dragster race and was blown away by the RAW files. I also have an OM1, as it works perfectly with FT lenses using phase-detection autofocus which as much faster. That’s why I’ve been adding more FT lenses to my collection-they’re not only more affordable but also extremely well-built, especially the Pro models. One thing Olympus has always excelled at is accurate color reproduction, including skin tones. I use the EM1 Mark II with a battery grip because some of my lenses are too heavy, and I need the added grip for better handling. I can definitely recommend the EM1 Mark II as well. It’s a true pro-level camera, and 20 megapixels are more than enough. This would be an interesting topic to explore further. … And many TH-camrs fuel the consumption of new cameras, while older cameras are still widely used by professionals. A friend of mine owns two EOS 1DX cameras, and they don’t have more megapixels either.

Hi, I just want to know which camera you used. I have a lumix g7 and I understood that this lense will git my camera but how easy or hard would it be to shoot with this g7+ this lense at maximum zoom

Great message to put out there. I’m biased since I’m a small TH-camr lol. Same, I have some healthy skepticism when it’s a new gear launch and all the big channels are talking about the same product. When the hype is at its highest. I get the most honest content from long-term or one-year reviews. One way I find small TH-cam channels is to search for products that have been out for a while, then filter by this week, this month, etc. On a side note, I like to write encouraging comments on the small channels. They’re more likely to be seen and responded to. The small TH-camrs also appreciate the comments more.

In my market, the pen-f typically lists for far more than better spec’d fujis, like x20, xt3, xh1, etc. The pen-f is usually priced comparably with x100f.

You really didnt give us much. What you should have said, fantastic choice for the micro 4/3 system. which has a fantastic ecosystem of lenses. and a joy to use, but sadly the sensor is still behind FF image quality. Personally, an excellent choice for travel photography. Portrait work I use my Sony A7R3

Unfortunately, the Pen f is way overpriced right now. $1200 U.S. Should be around $600 for a body in good condition.

J'utilise un GR 16Mp depuis 10 ans en randonnées itinérantes, et je l'ai démonté peut être 5 fois pour nettoyer la poussières sur le capteur. Un peu de casse au début car je ne connaissais pas les risques, comme d'arracher les 2 câbles du micro placé autour de l'écran, ou de déconnecter la nappe du capteur sur la carte mère qui n'est pas facile à reconnecter ensuite. Mais je maitrise l'opération maintenant. Je suppose que le nouveau système de stabilisation de l'objectif avec le mode dépoussiérage permet d'évite le dépôt de poussière maintenant. Et j'espère aussi que le joint d'étanchéité au dessus du capteur a été amélioré. Cet appareil est capable de prendre des images de grande qualité là ou les autres appareils sont restés à la maison car trop encombrants. Et la qualité de l'image est bien meilleure ce que des derniers smartphones. Il se mérite...

I'm not a fan of having the RAW file cropped, as I'd love to have the flexibility to adjust that later. But I can see the argument from simplicity here. It's too bad RAW files can't have cropping metadata, so that the file would contain everything but Lightroom would know to start with a crop.

Hold on hold on, at 4:12 did you really say "there's Olympus' built in picture profiles that no one uses because they're not really that good" ??????? come on gimme a break, you may prefer the Sigma output, yes great but to suggest Olympus' built in profiles are not that good is just hogwash. Olympus colour repro has always been superb.

Luke, you are very encouraging. I have an older 4/3 lens 12-60 (F2.8-4.0) and I need a body for it I just bought an adapter for micro 4/3. I have Fujifilm cameras and Nikons as well. Thanks for your information on this video. Greetings from Oregon.

I agree with you totally- I use mine constantly and I prefer it to my mk 5 plus most of my 100 odd camera that I've collected over the years

that scratched screen is a protective layer that you can peel and replace, in case you dont know.

For Olympus and OM Systems if you shoot raw the color wheel is in the Olympus and OM Systems software. So you can just load up your raw files and load in the preset and get your jpegs really fast. I know Panasonic and Nikon you can load in LUTS don't know if its as customizable as Olympus and OM Systems?

Best handling ever.. The grip and dials are just perfect. I bought the OM1,sold it and now a Sony a7 iv but i miss the em1 mk2…
