Found you thanks to the wot idol song you made!! loved it!!!
Omg that library book is enormous that should keep you busy in December. Great vlog ❤x
I loved your very critical analysis of the Atkinson. I quite liked it, but I don’t think I delve as deeply as you do. I loved the day trip to the garden centre for ornaments, by coincidence I hang out at Barton Grange while Lexi is at Myerscough it’s a lovely place and I also watch films at the Flowerbowl cinema next door. Has the red covered book you are reading been adapted for TV or am I mixing it up with something else. ❤xx
Wow, this is beautiful! Also, I'm so glad Rapunzl found you and recommended WoT Idol to you! It's going to be so fun!
Just in case you hadn’t heard, we extended the WoTIdol Holiday Extravaganza deadline to Dec. 8th 😉 This one is gorgeous!
Thank you for letting me know about this. I may have put reading Wind and Truth on hold to rustle something up this afternoon teehee And thank you for the compliment <3

Some people swear it's not that difficult to understand . . . but I am not fortunate enough to be one of them!
I think Tolkien, if he was all I’ve today, would be the biggest D And D nerd.
I could totally see that happening!
One thing that imo really points to Kaladin ascending to Honor is how the Stormfather refers to him as "SON OF TANAVAST" Kaladin is alone is this distinction. Wheres everyone else is just "SON OF HONOR". Also as for who Shallan's mom is, one thing pointing to her being a Herald is the official artwork of the Herald (Chanarach) people theorize is her mother. You can see her in the end art of Rhythm of War, and she is a spitting image of Shallan.
You are right, Kaladin is Tanavast's Specialest Little Boy and nobody else gets that title.
Great discussion! My biggest recommendation for you is to get better recording hardware. You're all very charismatic and had interesting things to say but the audio quality isn't great and that can get grating in long form videos.
10:39 what you say there about Frodo, connecting him with Tolkien himself, that's something I've never really though about before, and really fascinating! Frodo being a well-to-do middle-aged gentleman isn't something the films could exactly pull off, especially with Elijah Wood being so young (18 or 19 when they were first shooting I think?). They made Sam older than Frodo, rather than in the book where Sam is much younger, and more often mentioned as Frodo's servant and the wide-eyed member of the group. I love LOTR so much, and Unfinished Tales is my favourite of the others, mainly due to the Second and Third Age material in there. Some of the most important ever Middle-earth info is in that book. Yes, the Silm is, without a doubt, difficult for anyone to get their head around....! I doubt I ever will 😅
Yes, that's it - and I am very fond of Elijah Wood's Frodo too, and Sean Astin's Sam as well. They brought a lot of Sam and Frodo's excellent qualities to the screen. But it is fun to delve into those elements that didn't make the adaptation
Great video 💖 Based on your descriptions I want to see a stop motion adaptation of Leaf by Niggle. Would it work as a non-verbal one or is the dialogue crucial to the plot?
I think it would need dialogue but I could totally picture it as a stop motion! It would be a bit like those 70s aminations that look cute at first glance and then get unsettling and dark the longer it goes on.
Very interesting, although I have never read any Tolkien. I enjoyed your description of his biography, and his love story, and if I was to read Tolkien it would definitely be the letters to Santa, I just love the concept of a father writing to his children and keeping it going for 22 years that’s passion. However, I do think you might have got your years muddled up at the beginning, not that it matters 🤣 xxxx
@@AlisonHammond-i5sshe’s a whole year ahead of us 😂
@@rAcKeLlB she is bless her 🥰
Great that you got in to costume for this vlog and plaits too 👍❤️ I don’t know if I ever read this book, but I have seen various adaptations on the TV, most recently Ann with an E? I did enjoy it though, wholesome, moralistic, didactic, survived the test of time, what more do you need from a book. 😊xx
@@AlisonHammond-i5s exactly! I think you would enjoy the book. Historical, family, and funny moments too

I noticed that you may be facing some challenges with video views and ranking. if you want, I'd like to share some tips on how to grow your audience and achieve more success, keep up the fantastic work.
Such a lot going on in this vlog. Birthday books and book shopping. What bliss. I did finish the Lost book shop but I felt as you did, that something wasn’t quite right. I also would have been drawn to the lucky dip bags and I felt you did quite well with the Kate Atkinson novel which I have read it is quite sad if I remember 😢 Politics on the Edge is a book title if you don’t already know by a cabinet minister, so the tote was probably left over from a book launch perhaps. Not that I’ve read it 🤣. Your birthday books look fab also I look forward to seeing how you get on with them all next month 😊❤xx
Really glad you put a couple back on the shelf, and kind of cathartic to actually remove the book marks too. That book by Brandon S looks enormous, I don’t think I could even hold that to read, even if I wanted to. I liked the look of the LGBT+ books you showed for your friend. Is it an actual shop or just a section in a shop? Great vlog as always. ❤
Thanks, Alison 💖 once the bookmarks were out, the pressure was off We've just filmed our video about the Sanderson book and Orla struggled to hold it in our thumbnail pose because it's so big The bookshop is a cafe/bookshop but all the books they sell are LGBT+. I didn't have time to stop for coffee because I was on several missions that day, but next time I'm in Manchester I might make another journey and give their cafe a go
Hey! I wish you very Happy birthday! 🥂 You are October child, just like one of my kids.... You've got such a cool presents! We've been reading Letters from Father Christmas every December for two years now, and my kids LOVE that book. Looking forward for thirth read🤗 Stuart Turton is just a brilliant writer. I haven't read the Murder, but I did Seven deads of Evelin Hardcastle (highly recommend this one) and Devil and the dark water and I love both of them.
Wow the number of times I've missed, or nearly missed the train back from Manchester Victoria to Clitheroe... Usually I've been in the Arndale and was like 'yep it's ok I've got 10 minutes...' then just running for it 😆. Interesting how that copy you have there is titled 'The Wizard of Oz' where it's often called 'The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'. I have a collection somewhere with all 15(!!) Oz stories yet I don't think I ever read beyond the first (I can never be sure though...). Don't know if you've seen the film 'Return to Oz' but I think that's based on a couple of the other books, and it's pretty messed up! 😅 I love it though.
I'm glad you can relate to missing a Victoria train 😆 For me it was a combination of pedestrain ways being closed, being absolutely hopeless at navigating, and still not being used to the ao being there. Gosh, I hadn't even clocked the title discrepancy, how odd. I'm assuming it's to make it more similar to the 30s film but idk. I don't think I've seen 'Return to Oz' but maybe I will one day.
Another great vlog ladies. I’m afraid my copy of Dracula was culled from my book collection about a year ago. When I was at uni I thought I might read it, but then I decided not for me and let it go. But I do like the format of journals, diary’s and letters. Maybe one day if I ever run out of books 😉👍xxx
Ha ha, 'if I ever run out of books'🤪 Don't think there's much dander of that. xxx
@@cathybrowne104 true there is always more books than time to read them 🤣xxx

What a talent you are ❤ lovely song and you have a beautiful voice 😀 I confess I am not knowledgeable about WOT only a season on Netflix 😂 and there is so much going on, it definitely seemed like a series where reading the book would have been beneficial.🤷♀️ Anyway great vlog you are a star 🌟 xx
Awww, thank you Alison. You are right, there is a lot going on in WoT but even the little bit of knowledge that you have makes my heart shine
👏Proper excellent this song, and so much thought put into it! I often feel guilty cause I've only read 'Eye of the World'..😳 though I do mean to change that very soon. Great talent you have! 🎶
Thank you for your kind words. No need to feel guilty, we all read at our own pace and WoT has a lot of books to tackle 🎵

@sordidatusblack7620 Orla will be thrilled she got your vote! I haven't read Mistborn, maybe that needs to be my next Sanderson read?
So sorry you’ve been poorly 😢 but wow 8 - 9 books on the go is ambitious and just a little overwhelming too. I hope you can find a strategy to solve this 🤔. Definitely, Cathy is a good judge of books 📚 loving watching you every week ❤️
Thank you Alison. I think my strategy might be removing some of the 'currently readings' and putting them back into the TBR but not fully committed yet. <3
Rhythm of War. Wow that looks heavy. (Weighty.) Probably not for me., but I did love Kindred ❤. The pottery painting looked like so much fun and they were all so different I couldn’t possibly choose one. For a book recommendation for you I would suggest The Familiars by Stacey Halls, it is historical fiction my favourite genre, and I suggest it because it is a little bit ‘magical, mystical’ and is set around the time of the Pendleton Witch trials, so you may enjoy it. Not sure if it is an audio book but I have a copy if you want a borrow. Xxxx
Ooh thanks for that I do need to read that one! Think I once started it and then got distracted xx
You three make my day! Your so funny and optimistic and crazy (as Ola said)! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

My atheist son saw the opening of your vlog and said “ they’re going to say the bible or the Koran.” Sadly he didn’t stay and watch 🤣. Anyway, as we’re on with religion I will offer these as books I thankful for 🙏 Heaven in Ordinary by Angela Ashwin which I read after completing an Alpha course many years ago when I first moved up north and met some of my first northern friends and the second is a gift from one of them Saint Benedict’s prayer book, which always seems relevant when ever I use it, with said friends ❤️ Lastly, Owl babies. Every child needs this, it’s a classic, a lovely story and superb illustrations. Xxx

The Vegetarian is a conundrum. I remember lots of plant imagery and bloodied meat. Not for the faint hearted. Lots of things lost in the translation and culture. You did well to get through it. Not what I call an easy read. ❤ xxx
Thanks, Alison! I think you are right and there are some things that reading it in the original might make more clear. I know I said I wouldn't read it again but now that you've said this, I'm looking at my Korean workbooks and thinking 'one day, one day I can test this theory'.

If you're coming here after RRwRu August, I forgot that the back and forth we had about Bashere and Agelmar being the 'main saboteur' didn't make it into the final cut of the video BUT please know that in my reread of AMOL they are both tragic and make me want to tear my heart out of my chest. The scenes with Agelmar and Lan are destroying me and I hate them 😭😭😭
Omg the slomo! 😂 I feel your pain! The first one sounded really good to me, and the 20000 one. The cover reminded me of Remarkably bright creatures by Shelby Van Pelt, which I haven’t read yet, but I imagine water is quite prominent in that! It was about a family of circus performers where the daughters would be the "mermaid" performance, and every second generation (or something) would end up drowning tragically. I love the wheel of time books and was very excited for the show. I have enjoyed moments of the show but I’m scared they won’t have the scenes the book readers love. One of my favorite scenes from the books is when Mat defeats both galad and Gawyn after barely having been able to walk after dealing with the dagger. This didn’t happen in the show and even though he could still face and defeat them it seems like it lost some of its surprise. I don’t know if I’m making sense. I would love to see Dumai’s wells although in the last episode of season one they seemed to use the “Asha’man kill!” Moment. I’m trying to be optimistic for the show but I have my doubts. I did love the powerfully emotional moment when nynaeve ran through the arch holding her daughter. Very powerful.
You are making sense and I'm with you in that, I mourn the loss of Mat vs Galad&Gawyn. It might still be in the show, but it would have been epic to see so soon after Mat wakes up in TV. Just been to rewatch the Tarwin's Gap scene from S1 to compare them in my mind. Wow, I'd forgotten how off-script they went with the Fal Dara stuff 🤦🏻♀️. I think the "Asha'man kill!" moment will still work if we get Dumai's Wells (and we must do, it's such a big plot point in the books). The men are all working individually and attacking humans so it still has that sickeningly dark aspect to it instead of the looney-tunes 'splosions and lightning bolts in the S1 finale. Keep that optimism up my friend, we still get to see WoT on screen 🥳
Oathbringer's a tough book but the payoff is great! Definitely my favourite so far (at least until Wind and Truth, but we'll see)
@ceravyni the pay off was epic! I read the last 150 pages in one sitting! Was a complete rush!
