A friend needed a video, I've been studying how to make a video for a month so what the heck. Here it is.
I was wanting to get a greyish color on an old shotgun stock. I came across your video and I like the way, ours turned out. Thanks for sharing.
Good video, but man that didn't turn out well, I'm sorry. lol No disrespect. I sort of feel like you know it deep down inside but convinced yourself to make the best of it. I think if you had just repeated a couple to a few more coats you'd have gotten what you originally wanted, but it just looks like a wall someone painted without first using a primer.
I really like that result, thanks for sharing because this is exactly what I want to do with my Remington 572. I think I will experiment on my cheap Mosin Nagant first. I’m wondering if I can layer the grains with two colors, an ebony and a gray for a subtle camouflage.
Came out awesome
Well, it's been 2 - 3 years since this OUTSTANDING job. What do they look like now? If they're degraded, when did it start?
Video starts at 3:07
Did something similar to my Mini 14. They have the same birch stock. Used a weathered gray stain. The grain was so blah I decided to go another route and sanded some back off before adding a second coat. Let a little of the brown peek thru for a distressed or worn look. Finished mine off with tru-oil. I think it looks pretty cool. At least it's different lol
Is it possible to refinish it fully, or is the original treatment too deeply ingrained in the wood?
It may take a second coat of stripper to take it all the way down to clean wood, that's what I did. It will acceptas many coats as you want but I thought I wanted the wood grain but I think I would have like a more solid grey as the grain still shine through.
Use a stain primer first.
You’re the only one spreading hate, I was just making an observation. And this is proven because YOU decided to delete YOUR comment, but thanks for the insightful info 😃
looks great ! i really like that color
If I thought anybody would look at this video I would have worked off a script. This many months later the headlights look as good as new. Viva Las Vegas.
I think the motorbike windshield looks much better
Remember, I just wiped on the clear coat. No buffing or anything after that. The headlights look just as hood today as they did last summer right after this video was done.
how long did you spend on polishing per headlight? was it just simply plastic x?
Howie Eyo complete project about 1 hour. Headlights are easy to polish.
I see, I'd sanded the headlight back like you did. Used a polish to polish them back but didn't turn out anywhere near as clear as yours
Howie Eyo You need to finish with a Clear Coat rather than a polish.
All i can say is wow!!!! Those headlights came out real nice brother.
