That repair will only hold temporarily. You havevto do the seats. Theyre actually what wears out tge washers. They become jagged and brittle. 1 out of every 3 usually strip.

Ya, I have almost the same set up as that tub in my place and it leaked a lot. I tried washers, new valves and I finally did some research on the actual faucets and on the inside after you take it apart is a threaded tube. It is called the "SEAT". Well it had a crack in it as it was made from plastic. It was about 1.75 inches long and I could not find it. It was the hot water side so my power bill was stupid and I finally just made my own. I got a stainless bolt with the same thread pattern and drilled a hole through it. (Yes I tried to find a brass fitting to do the job but none had that thread pattern). It works great it does not drip at all and it's been two months. So if you are having an issue with it leaking still after replacing the rubber ring look at the seat. It takes a 90 deg. tool that is flanged to get it out and it helps to have the right tool for this job.

The grease comes from washing dishes. There’s nothing you can do to prevent it if you’ve ever done commercial Plumbing you would know that rookie.

I work in sewer maintenance and we get huge freaking blocks like that in the wells the guys call them whale bones
