On December 16, 2024, the Department of Defense’s (DoD) Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) final rule will go into effect. This regulation mandates that all companies working with the DoD, including subcontractors, adhere to new cybersecurity standards. Failure to comply will render businesses ineligible for future DoD contracts. The regulation affects a broad range of industries within the defense supply chain, including architecture, engineering, manufacturing, technology and higher education.
