I agree. Learning Spanish is a sacrifice at times. Balance is key 🔑 I used to only listen to Spanish podcasts when I am in the car, but I started to miss my car dance sessions to my favorite (English) songs. Like you said, it feels good to just be able to enjoy what you normally enjoy in our native language. Thanks for the reminder to just enjoy the process. I am wishing balance for you! Love your videos, thanks for sharing your journey. 😊

Love your video as always! I have been having such as reading slump for a while now and it took me saying "okay im going to read this in english and im only going to read" instead of always forcing myself to read in another language or only listening to audiobooks when im making language resources for myself or whatever, giving the book my full attention without it being a "language learning activity" has brought back my enjoyment of reading. Since language learning is my favourite hobby too I often put pressure on myself to spend a lot of my free time doing languages, especially because there's a voice in my head saying "if you learn more languages you need more time for all of them" and honestly its important for me to also take a step back sometimes and remember being balanced in my life is actually what i need. This week I have been drawing for the first time in years, and funnily enough it has made me enjoy language learning more because now they both feel like hobbies rather than language learning being this all-encompassing monolith of a chore. Looking forward to your next video!! <3

The bit you said about wanting to just listen to nature on your walks was so accurate, I feel guilty for not using it for "immersion practice time", but I just want to listen to the quiet! For me the screen time / constant noise time really racks up not just because of immersion but also because all my cuecards and study is also done on the computer. Y para nivel intermedio-avanzado te recomendaría las series "Los 80", "El Reemplazante" y la película "Machuca". PS: I wrote in spanish, and I assume that you're familiar with the whole WEÓN and WEÁ things 😂 There is also a bilingual youtuber/tiktoker called "Maddie's Mundo", SUPER FLUENT in Chilean Spanish (she even has a chilean accent when she speaks, and that also means she speaks fast, so it would be in nivel avanzado) And remember, if you unblock the Chilean Spanish, all the other Spanish variants will be piece of cake, keep on the good work! 🙌🙂

Absolutely the same! I need so much quiet in my life. I am not and have never been someone who can listen to things all the time. Many years ago, when I was working in a job with a lot of people time, I would drive the hour to and from work in absolute silence because I couldn’t take any more input lol. It’s like my brain and consciousness are processing so much, it feels like I’m full and I cannot add anything else to it. AND I need the silence to recuperate and feel whole again. It’s definitely been challenging learning a language with CI and being around people (virtually) who can spend so much time taking in content. I think we’re just built differently! I need to do the dishes in silence thank you very much lol. I’ve also been focusing more on reading, but it’s been so hard to not feel guilty or like I should be listening to Spanish more often. 2-4 hours a day? Girl, you are a low-key speedrunner to me, LOL! That is an incredible goal to meet every day. I completely understand what you mean by needing to shut out the noise. We will definitely need breaks in this language-learning journey, or we will experience tons of burnout. Sometimes, I feel that the attachment to the numbers on DS can be motivating, but I realize how obsessive I (and others that I have seen on different social media feeds) get in reaching a specific number. Right there with you my friend! I give myself breaks too but then I feel guilty. I was telling Greg that I have to get over the idea of increasing that almighty progress number! I'm even in a Spanish speaking country and it's still hard to be motivated ALL the time! I gave up on reaching my goal every day. As long as I do something I'm cool. My mental health is so much more important lately. Lately, I've been listening to music instead or I listen to frequencies (Yes, I am totally that type of person!) On the days, I have the energy, I go for it. On the other days, Spanish takes a back burner. It sucks cuz I know that it's delaying my learning but I have to live in the present moment. Good Luck girlie! Little by little, a little becomes a lot!
