Conducting effective TBT and SLAM
Toolbox Talks (TBT) and the Stop Look Assess & Manage (SLAM) are two very important safety tools that are used by all members of staff before conducting work. The TBT is a huddle with all essential personnel for a work task, where they discuss the task and the safety considerations. But that is not all. After the TBT is completed, the team engages a Last Minute Risk Assessment (LMRA) in the form of a GYSBI SLAM that goes beyond what the documented risk assessment states and prompts the team to assess the work site for any last minute hazards that can affect the team and the successful execution of the task, and also ensure that they check to ensure that relevant safeguards are in place.
