Coffee Outdoors
In the hunt for the ever elusive perfect cup of camp coffee, I employ the "Stanley Adventure All-in-One Boil + Brew French Press". I opted to boil my water in a separate vessel to pour over the grounds - because I believe this may make a difference. ;-) This is also my first attempt at an ASMR video. Probably definitely not my last. Enjoy!

Ugly Stik Carbon - A Better Review

A follow-up look at and review of the Ugly Stik carbon, now that it has been on some canoe trips and provided me with some meals. This is not a sponsored review, and I get nothing for expressing my views here. I simply noticed a lack of consumer information about this product and wanted to do my part. www.uglystik.com/uglystik-rods-spinning-rods/ugly-stik-carbon-spinning-rod/1509898.html Instag...

In winter, the Peat defeats you!

Heather and I embark on the Peat Mountain Trail in Lake Superior Provincial park via snowshoe. I guess it's become a yearly tradition. We made it further than last year, but still have yet to completed the loop with snow underfoot. I have high hopes for next year. Apologies (sort of) for the camera audio kicking out halfway through the video. I somehow disabled my microphone. On the plus side, ...

Are you still out there?
Thanks for the review and actually showing it being used! Most just read the specs from the manual and call it a review but fail to field test items 🤦🏿♂️🤣
I like how no other rod will take the abuse of a UGLY Stick. Fast is stiffer them a moderate rod. I got a big learning curve with medium light fast and a old medium light rod's 🤔⁉️ something different I don't need to pull it the same. Only thing less fiberglass faster. The tip is hallow from the top to the handle I broke my rod tip trying to pull a trout out of the water and snap 4 inch off So I fixed it and it's more stiffer now- 🤷o well- I've been waiting a carbon fiber rod thank you for the review now I know bass fishing 🎣 will be great or tiger musky fishing rod.
I’m someone coming from an abu Garcia black max rod castingcombo rod- would this rod be solid for light to medium weight bass jigs?
I think fast action usually means stiff because if you wanted fast action on your lure and instant action as you twitch, jig etc., a softer rod wouldn’t telegraph as well as a stiff rod if that makes sense?😂
Halfway - a medium moderate would be just as excellent- it really comes down to the materials that the rod is made of- The Gx2 is a mix of cheap graphite and fiberglass- it makes the rod heavy, cheap, and affordable, These rods while more expensive- upgrade every performance mark dramatically- there’s even moderate action options if a fast tip isn’t your cup of tea! (My favorite for crankbait)
It looks great! Would you recommend this for Salmon or Steelhead Trout??
You can use a stick or whatever to spread the mosquito net strings
I just bought a baitcast model, very disappointed. I have numerous Ugly Stiks and this one's quality stinks. Several of the eyes threads are not fully covered with epoxy. Going to finish coating them myself. Not worth the effort to return.
Woke is going to kill more of your views .. it's guy line.... Stop being woke. Disgusting
I just accidentally hooked a massive carp on it yesterday and let me tell you, it damn near pulled the rod outta my hand and bent it completely in half and it handled it no problem! Never had a carp eat a bass bait (lizard on a 3/0 EWG) and was surprised to say the least. Love mine so much I bought two. Great review and keep it up!
Yeah carp are weird i had one eat a chunk of bluegill
I really love your hat. Where did you get it ?

Gorgeous canoe man
Nice video 👌
We canoe it!!
Try laying at an angle. It's better to get flat
Used this rod as of day of release 4 faulty rods so far i only own ugly stiks and this one is J U N K
Can you tell us about the hat ? Also nice canoe !
I have alot of more expensive rods but my 7'7 carbon just feels right
Is this rod durable like other ugly sticks sir ?
It's been through a year and a half of hard use, unprotected in the car, strapped to the canoe on portages, and even strapped to my bike from time to time while bikepacking. Some of the shiny red finish has worn off, but it's still holding strong.
not even close
Got a new 7'3 one piece medium fast......best , most durable rod for under $100 in the world!! Paired it up with a sz 35 pfluger supreme XT for $170 and it's killer!
I love how you didn't exactly read the directions LOL Exactly how I set mine up! Am taking it camping next month :)
Solid review! I've been an ugly stik guy forever and just bought one. Cant wait to take it out! Also, the camera angles aren't horrible, little bit higher would be good but still entertaining!
How you feeling about it a year later?
Nice video, any advice on what to buy a two piece rod or 1 piece rod
Thanks for the video! I am looking to buy a similar hammock from the same company. If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you? If you don't feel comfortable putting that information on the internet I understand. I don't know if you can private message me on this platform.
Nice little video! Thanks for sharing. I did this trip in high school back in 96, and have some great memories of it. Hoping to take my son down it one day.
I dig the hat! where did you get it?
Nice review Mark, love the fishing footage, camera angle isn't all that bad honestly, beautiful fish, and what a gorgeous boat! I know you put some love into that. ^.^ Miss ya bud.
Do you feel the rod too whippy is is there enough backbone with a soft tip
From my experience with the new Carbon series, they are more comparable with modern day rods. Stiffer backbone with faster tips compared to the old "grandfather type" rods with soft, slow/flimsy action. Ugly stik did a really great job with the carbon series imo to compete with other companies
Thanks! Great review, been wanting to get this rod your info was the clincher.
Thank you for a great review! Very professional!
What a stupid video . Ugly stick was just click bait
Nice rod
I have the baitcaster version one piece with abu max black and love it more than my lews
ive just broke my abu garcia casting rod. ive been looking at the ugly stick carbon to replace it. Has your carbon been working good for you still??
@@Adroit1911 I love it. It feels great
@@1984duck thank you, I just ordered the medium light and a medium heavy. 😁
@@Adroit1911 you will love the med heavy just the right amount of flex at the top for those hard pulls
@@1984duck yeah bro I'm excited. I only had a medium before, and it worked but I wanted something a bit better for finesse and something with a bit more backbone. This winter I'll be on the rivers with my fly rods, but come spring!! 😁
I use this COMBO daily. I have caught up to 5 POUND bass on this over 250+ times and it is exceptional. No breaks, no cracks. I run 20lb Braided line on it and it holds up perfectly. This is the GX2 on steroids, and lighter. AND better looking with an exposed pole grip. If you can afford it, get it, it is badass without question.
Update: Still performing excellent. Pulled two 3lb largemouth our yesterday and 18 other decent little guys. I love the combo. However for PERSONAL preference, I switched the Reel to my “Lews Carbon” reel that obviously performs better than the Abu, and also matches the color AND name of the rod coincidentally. I still tell everyone to go buy one every day if they ask about it. I love it 🔥🙌
What size reel?
@@BigEZ213 the Abu that comes with it is a 2000. I have now switched to a 3000 Lews just for personal preference
What do u fish for mostly? I just ordered the ugly stik carbon 7 medium heavy but deciding which reel too order still
Any suggestion what to get a 1 piece rod or 2 piece rod?
*Great 2 piece 9 ft rod. Great fit with my Penn pursuit 2 3000. I can cast really well from the surf with this set up. Caught halibut, perch, mackerel. Lots of fun. This is my go to light set up.*
*This item was perfect and was exactly what i was expecting. The item came in no time and was very well packaged and in a great shape. I'm very happy and pleased with the item i received and want to thank the seller for a terrific product.*
Great video!!! Tell me about the orange containers you use for your gear. I like the way they protect.
Heya, thanks! My barrels are thoroughly washed 20 liter olive barrels that I rescued from a restaurant's recycle bin. Watertight and durable. Great for canoeing and bikepacking. Cheers!
Exactly the review I was looking for. A guy who's obviously about his stuff been on plenty of camping trips saying "I think switching to a hammock is the way to go for me" fuckin sold man
Hay I just got two of the carbon rods in a bait casting format and the two rods broke one a medium heavy fast and the other a medium fast be vary cautious do not treat it like it’s a gx2 totally different rods
Would you say the gx2 is stronger?
Ofc it's weaker dude it's 100% Graphite not 25% like the GX2.
@@hunterbengtson6583 yeah if you're not bass fishing sure go with the all fiberglass GX2.
Exactly what I wanted to know lmao ill just stick with the good ole gx2/elite then, thank you!
False! I’ve been catching up to 5lb bass on this DAILY and it holds up fine. I’ve already caught 250+ fish with this and it is a TANK. It isn’t a fatass like the GX2, it is MEANT for sensitivity and durability. Idk what you’re doing to break TWO of them but you’re clearly doing something wrong.
Awesome video! What lure are you using?
Love the canoe and also love the brook trout!
Cant find this rod in store yet. but looks great
Thanks for the review man! 👍
My pleasure!
Thanks for review fella
Can I have a shout out?
Great video
Thank you for sharing text me and we can share info about gear I am from Costa Rica
Justin Barbour has a Great channel on youtube . He's a fan of the ugly stick also.
Please keep updates coming on Ugly stick carbon?
Recently had to sort out some camera and canoe issues. I'm hopeful to have an update on the Ugly Stik Carbon in the next week.
