Ended a good solid hour of frustration trying to figure this out... We even had the original manual! Life saver!

I got my first T&S for $25 bucks at auction and it was recently serviced and regeared when I got it home and looked inside. Second one I found for free and came with the original lease paperwork and all the cams. Yesterday I found a free sewing chair with all the cams and accessories that the first one was missing. These vintage machines are addictive 😅

I scored one of these free from someone down the street from me who had it in their driveway with a “free” sign on it. It came with the sewing table where the machine tucks into it and everything! I thought surely there was no way it was in working condition if it was just set out on the driveway. But I took it home and couldn’t believe my luck . Not only did it work but it worked (and still works) like a DREAM! I’ve experienced none of the issues this model is famous for . And all for $0! It even still had a fairly new needle in it and a bobbin! 😂. I did have to give it some TLC though . The inside machinery was FILLED with dust bunnies likely been accumulated from the date of manufacture! It was clearly not cared for so I was surprised at how well it operated. And now that I’ve cleaned it, it is even better! What a score!!

At @7:20 you put a drop of oil into the two allen set screws that hold the timing gear for the timing belt that goes to the main lower shaft . The set screws are not oil passages for a bearing. They just hold the timing gear to the upper shaft. I'm looking at your video because I just picked up a closely related Kenmore, the 148.15210 which uses an oscillating hook facing the front. It is in amazing condition having been used very little with no rust. I think I may have been the first to ever oil it since it was purchased.

good info- an oil can with needle applicator does make it easier

Great content - also don't forget to oil the oiling points on the bottom of the machine. That will help prevent any random upper noise issues. The brand of oil that come with the oil spouts/sticks really help get into the deeper areas of the machine without dripping excess oil! I use Tri-flow (comes with a spout)!

Thanks for this. My 94 year old grandmother just gave me this exact machine to hopefully repair. It's her favorite and she was very upset when it stopped working recently. It seems to have seized up as the knob is incredibly hard to turn by hand. I'm pretty sure she was just oiling it wrong all these years as she was using a spray to oil it. I don't think she ever knew about these oiling points, but I can clearly see them. I just ordered some sewing machine oil and a similar oiling bottle to what you have.

i inherited by mother in laws after her passing. I do love it for certain sewing projects. They don’t build regular sewing machines this well anymore.

The front piece can be unscrewed from the bottom. You are missing a lot of places to clean and oil without showing it with the front cover off.
