Vintage Engine Restorer
South Africa

Restorer of vintage engines. Bringing old vintage engines back to life to live another day and have their beautiful voices be heard once again.
Petter PAZ1 Part 2 Assembly and Painting
Final part of the restoration on this small engine. The project is practically finished, just waiting on a new-old injector as the old one was damaged during the de-rusting procedure (left it in the vinegar for too long).

Petter PAZ1 Stationary Diesel Engine Part 1
มุมมอง 942 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is a rather small engine I am fixing back up for the owner. This small diesel engine generates somewhere between 1.5 and 3 horsepower and they were used in older portable concrete mixers. The PAZ1 model was manufactured between the late 1950s and early 1970s. The brass engine ID plate which is normally secured to the fuel tank is missing so I cannot determine the manufacturing date for thi...
1956 Deutz MAH 916 Start-up and run
มุมมอง 37K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
A full video on the 916 start-up. Managed to fix the starting injector's blocked nozzle using bread (yes, bread) and pressure, but it's not working 100% yet as I haven't been able to adjust the injection pressure correctly. This MAH 916 is a horizontal single cylinder, 1.81l that produces 16 HP, runs on diesel and is water cooled. It weighs approximately 460 Kg. Even though it only has one cyli...
1955 Turner 2 Stroke Diesel Engine, Start-up and Run.
มุมมอง 4.7Kปีที่แล้ว
Longer video of the Turner engine running, with the clear sound of what this 2.1L 56 HP three cylinder two stroke diesel from 1955 sounds like! Here is a link to the Turner register site: www.turnerregister.co.uk/l90-engines-turner-list And a link to a history description of the Turner Manufacturing Company: www.historywebsite.co.uk/Museum/Engineering/Turner/TM.htm
Deutz MAH 916 finally running.
มุมมอง 531ปีที่แล้ว
Finally got this one running. Had a few issues with air in the fuel and also figuring out how the fuel control lever works. This was the first start-up, and there are still many issues to address. Once I got this engine performing as it is supposed to, I'll upload a proper start-up video.

Smooth Running of the 1955, 2.1l 56 HP Turner Diesel L60, 3 cylinder two-stroke.
มุมมอง 3012 ปีที่แล้ว
The Turner is now running smoothly with the blower issue resolved. She has been brought back to life after standing for more than 10 years. Few more final touches then she's ready for show time in June.
The Turner Diesel runs!
มุมมอง 672 ปีที่แล้ว
Finally it runs, but not like it should. There are still quite a few issues to sort out, including the governor not governing the way it should. The Blower sounds like it's doing it's rattling again, even though when it was tested it passed perfectly. More to come.
Turner Diesel Blower Final Test.
มุมมอง 332 ปีที่แล้ว
The final test performed on the Blower of the Turner Diesel. After days of intense thinking and working this out as accurately as possible, the Blower is finally operating correctly and within tolerances. The final test involved running the Blower at around 3000 RPM for 30 minutes to check for any issues and overheating, it passed with flying colours. Now it's to be painted, reinstalled on the ...

Brasil muito esse motor❤❤❤❤
Nice running engine, congratulations I´m restoring now a 92 years old Deutz MAH 611, ( much smaller engine). What color did you use to paint it? I has been told that the original color was RAL 3011
@@FBarrao this is from an email straight from DEUTZ in Germany when I enquired about the original paint colour (I used the RAL 3011): "brown/red RAL 3011, grey RAL 7037, black RAL 9005 or acc. Customer requirement." Good luck with your project! That engine is quite vintage, wow.
@@VintageEngineRestorer4061 Thank you very much for the info very usefull!!
@@FBarrao no problem. If you want I can send you the old timer's email address if you want to find more info for your specific Deutz. He even sent me a copy of the original micro fish tape of the delivery note for my engine, very interesting to know. He seems to control the old Deutz engine archives.
@@VintageEngineRestorer4061 Yes, I contacted him, and with the serial number they sent to me the paper from 1932 when the engine left the factory. But I asked them also the color, and he didn´t answer to me nothing about this..
@@FBarrao alright, well at least now you have that information.
Был у меня такой Андежан🎉
Useless crap
It might be useless crap today, but decades ago these machines played a key role in our society. This engine was shipped from Germany to Johannesburg to a company called Steelmetals Ltd. So you can imagine the life this engine would've had at a steelworks, supplying power to various machinery. All I am doing is sharing these old machines with everyone to show where we came from back then and how far we came.
Kaç beygir motor
Niiiice.. are they Loop Scavenged
Yes, it uses a Rootes Type Blower.
@@VintageEngineRestorer4061yes but both Loop Scavenged and Uniflow Scavanged 2strokes use Roots Blowers
@@timt2202 I see, but yes, these are Loop Scavenged.
جميل جدا هذا المحرك الااسطوري من شركه دوتس الاالمانيه .
I love it, i need one lol
They aren't easy to find from what I heard. According to the Turner register, there's only a handful left in the world, and Turner only produced less than 100 of them if I recall correctly.
@@VintageEngineRestorer4061 like a Detroit diesel. Can't hardly find em anywhere and they cost a fortune. Always wanted one though
@@ThatRandomMan1 You might find one one day, just like I happened to come across this one being stored under junk in the backyard of an engineering shop. I added some links to the video description of the engines register and the company if you want to check it out. (I don't know why I didn't add them at the start lol)
They were fitted to series 1 Land Rovers as the diesel option before rover made their own engine
Yes, only the ones specially manufactured for the Land Rover. Mine has the designation "Automotive". Was wondering if the one I found was the one that went missing up in Kenya during Operation Enterprise, but the experts quickly told me it wasn't.
Nice engine.
Thank you. It's a very special one in my collection too, only one in Africa according to the Turner records.
@@VintageEngineRestorer4061 very special indeed. I'm looking for a video of a single cylinder hit and miss engine. Saw it once. It was a sky blue 2 stroke diesel too but 1 vertical cylinder. So awesome. Can't find it again.
@@bluetrepidation you can ask on the engine groups on Facebook, they will most definitely be your best bet at tracking down that engine.
I take it there are no valves, like a 51 series detroit?
Correct, it uses a Loop - Scavenged system.
My wife- “why are you watching a seven minute. Video of an engine revving?” Me- “because Saturday”
What was this engine originally installed in?
This one has a bit of an uncertain history. Only hint I have is the IH bell housing the seller gave to me when I bought the engine. He said it came with the engine when he bought it. Likely this engine was retrofitted into an IH pick-up to replace it's four cylinder petrol engine.
Now that's what I call a restoration & no mistake! what a beauty, I just hope my own runs as smooth
I'm sure it will.
Nice do you run klotz 2 stroke oil in it? What about amsoil interceptor.
Are you using TCW3 of just any 2 stroke oil?
A real 'Snarling Beast!' & no mistake.
Great Job TN, & no sign of any smoke under load either, 'wish my twin had ran as well when first started. Clearly a lot of hard work & long hours, but definitely more than worth it, as you say, a few tweaks here and then lift off!
A great looking engine my friend, please keep us informed.
You bet
A good looking rare beast Turner nut, cleaner than I expected & lookin' good, considering it's possibly the only one in your country.
