Building An Airplane From a Kit!? Avid Plus Bush-plane Project Intro
มุมมอง 888ปีที่แล้ว
I am excited to introduce you to my newest project! Follow along as we begin the process of building a “bush” style airplane…from a kit! This video will have a lot of me talking and not a whole lot of action (I’m sorry), but I feel it’s important to give this project a good introduction and some background as we begin! This is serial #7 of #7 of the Airdale Avid Plus models produced.

มุมมอง 5Kปีที่แล้ว
I am happy to share my "mostly" completed Jeep LJ build with you guys! While there are some finishing touches and changes to be made, I wanted to kick this channel off by showing a walk around and some clips of the LJ in action. Thank you to great companies that helped make the build possible. Motobilt, Baja Designs, ADS Racing Shocks, PRP Seats, Raceline Wheels, Revolution Gear and Axle, Artec...
I love jeeping and Moab and have taken my Jeep down on a lot of the trails. I am building a Kit fox two and making modifications so I’m very curious about any of that content. Are you coming out with any more of your build content?
It was great having you guys on Risky Biz with us at the Winter 4x4 Jam on Thursday. We had a great time and did not break anything thanks to your help. Steve Linda and Ben.
Looks like he didn’t run the shocks out board far enough and the probably bound on the frame at full droop I’ve seen that before with that Coilover kit.
No contact on the frame after many hard wheeling trips. Shocks are out as far as possible, Jeep works great.
What doors ?
What size tires and what transfer case are you running?
What was the final wheelbase? LJ looks great!
Just ran across your channel. Any updates on how the kit is coming along? Do something every day that say. And it's good advice. Jim
I've stretched the rear of a LJ. I had to fabricate a custom forward tank crossmember to support the the two body mounts just aft of the axle. With rhe stock, upper link axle mounts would it it at full stuff.
What was the final wheel base? No motobilt back half?
Good video here! Thanks you for share
Thanks for watching my friend! Appreciate the watch!
What kind of axles are on this LJ?
He’s running a Dynatrac front axle and a TJ 44 in the rear that we have beefed up. We will soon be swapping them over to a new set soon!
Cool plane. NICE kit. For a while I owned kit 001. It was called Airedale Backcountry, designed by John Larsen of Avid. I had the factory assembly build manual with my kit. It was originally designed for the Subaru EA81 power plant with a Stratus belt reduction drive. My kit had the aluminum Grove gear. The plane sat in my garage for a few years but I was just too BUSY with work and running my company that I didn’t work on it much. About 2 years ago I got a call from the gentleman I purchased it from asking if I’d sell it back to him. Thought about it for awhile and finally sold it. The kit is now back in south west Minnesota. I have the contact info for Mark if you want to consult with another builder. Like you I did a LOT of research into the history of Avids and the Airedale prior to buying the kit. I was able to get the contact info of the previous owner of Airedale, Jerry, and also John Larsen and called them to get a bit of history about my kit. I also was fortunate to get a copy of The 5 articles John Larsen wrote for kit plane magazine about the history and build of the first Avid Mark V … which eventually turned into the Airdale Back Country. Yes, you are correct, only 7 kits were fabricated. When you get your kit completed it will be an AWESOME back country flyer. I look forward to following your build. One of my biggest regrets was selling my kit. Thank you for sharing your build adventure with us. Best regards from CYQT, beautiful Thunder Bay Ontario Canada.😊
Great info Brian! Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience. Looking forward to getting this one up in the air!
OOPS ... my kit was kit 007, not 001, apparently 007 was the last kit produced. If you want, I have the contact information for Mark ... the gentleman that bought the kit from me. You two might want to connect to compare build / assembly notes. It will be cool when both of these kits are complete and flying. @@MaxHannOfficial
