The compression is strong with this one
Not to mention he is singing at the same time.
Still gives me chivers.
Geddy Lee hits the strings like they owe him money.
Y aparte canta
So glad I got to experience this song live in the early eighties. I heard they didn't do it much afterward.
I’m a huge Rush and The Police fan…….funny how similar yet different they are musically. All had in my opinion the top shelve musician in guitar (Alex & Andy) at the base and vocals (Sting & Geddy….hello!!!) and drums (Neil-best drummer ever and Stew….who transformed the drum play as well) 3 dudes created some of the best music in our lifetime!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
I saw this performed at the Cow Palace in Daly City for PW tour. Alex sang the "Bangkok" part in harmony and high up with Ged and it sounded cool! I've never heard em do it like that again, or on any tapes.
Anyone watching and enjoying this, defintely check out the Gibson Icon interview with Rex. Such a humble, funny, gentle, sincere and talented man!
Was this recorded with the Rick or the Jazz?
So underated, Love Alex's feel! Rush is so amazing!❤🎉
Live in largo Maryland 9/27/84
HOLY HOLY MOLY MOLY !!!!! NOTHING COMPARES TO LIVE RUSH !!! WELL MAYBE A LIVE RASH!!!

Eraserhead
David Lynch approves
I want to learn to play bass and this is the first song I want to play
Go for it!!!!
Cool reverb echo-effects on vocals 👍🏻
Wish Geddy hadn't lost the punchy sound by using the Wal bass. The Rickenbacker and Fender Jazz definitely suited him.
Oh yeah kids… don’t forget he’s singing all the while. 🤩🔥
Geddy's hacked p bass into a tear drop. Sorry, p bass ...
🤘🏾😀🤘🏾
Such inventive solo ing
Over rated
his ability to match the Professor and play fills at the same time is intoxicating. also, his playing never intrudes on Alex's playing. they truly are the most balanced 3 piece of all time
Le Studio is derelict now. A ruin. The music business that existed when this record was recorded no longer exists. It's all computer home studios now. It's practical. Cheaper. Air Studios in Montserrat met the same fate. I've tried to explain this reality to people but they don't wish to hear it and recede back into fandom fantasy. Big corporate studios aren't cost effective.
Damn this is soooo smooth and that bass just hits you like a Mack truck
Moving pictures basses: Tom Sawyer - Jazz Limelight - Jazz (Ged thinks it’s a Ric, I disagree) The camera eye - Ric YYZ - Jazz bass with Rick on solo punch ins. Witch hunt - J bass with tone rolled off. Red Barchetta - Ric Vital signs: Jazz bass. Signals: Subdivisions - Ric Analog Kid- ric Chemistry-Ric Digital man - Jazz bass The weapon - Jazz bass New world man - Jazz bass Losing it - no bass duh Countdown - Rick. Between the two albums you can clearly hear that the Jazz has way less drive than the Rick and more of a scooped sound.
Great! 👍
How do you get that muddy kirky tone? its so good the weight of it the muddiness and of course the melody makes it amazing
Heaven!
A musical monument.❤
Did a bass cover of this on my channel
My feeble brain can’t comprehend how he sings and plays this bass line at the same time.
this man is a boss on bass i dont know who is better jean paul jones of Led or geddy they all have their strenghts but one thing this song is a masterpiece when i listen to it so does my family next door and the neighbours as well
That solo really is heart stopping
I still find it amazing that Getty Lee was a self taught musician on all the instruments he played
*Geddy - Was actually a nickname from friends. Lee's name was derived from his mother's Polish-accented pronunciation of his given first name, "Gary." This was picked up by his friends in school, leading Lee to adopt it as his stage name and later his legal name, Geddy Lee Weinrib.
PURE Rhythmic BEAUTY!!!
@2:35 wow....
They left so much of the low end of the sound in there on the main part. It's just a huge wall of tone. Really remarkable from a mix standpoint.
Man that is one chill spaniel with Ged in the photo ❤
At 0:44, Alex looks like david from oddville MTV 1997 lol
I love that bass tone. Was this song recorded on the Jazz or the Ricky?
Rickenbacker on this and the camera eye, everything else is probably the Jazz bass.
So much distortion ❤️
Hi. Whats the amp and cabs that Geddy was using? Thanks
Ric-O-Sound out into two Ashly SC-40 Preamps, they went into BGW Power amps that powered custom 1x15" Cabs with Electrovoice SRO speakers.
Hi. Whats the amp and cabs that Geddy was using? Thanks
8:52 - FINALLY! 40 YEARS LATER!! I always wondered what was said that was so buried in the mix. This is one of my all time favorite Rush songs. And to hear it like this is enough to get twitches all over my body.
That’s called an eargasm
Unbelievable great version.I Love those old pedals!
YES YES YES YES *YESSSSSSSSSSSS* ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Moving Pictures is one of my most used CDs. It was also one of my most used LPs.
