Thanks very much for your question Our ramp for todays arrival was to the right after landing, however in this direction the runway only has a full length exit to the left The tower basically just gave us instructions to back track. I’m guessing if there was other traffic we’d have exited left at the end of the runway and then proceeded as instructed to cross for the ramp further back up the runway Hope this helps

The straight in from over Malaysia is a lot easier. A little steeper approach to avoid ships passing the end of the runway For a tropical destination with the associated weather, it’s amazing that Seletar doesn’t have any instrument approaches. All of the landings (and departures) are via visual procedures

I would actually want to see a landing to seletar airport by the other way. Would look nice passing by all the houses.

@@Skylineschannel Seletar actually does have the ILS, but due to some reasons, albeit the proximity to Malaysian airspace, the system is not in use.

@@dominickodimus I heard the same thing! We were led to believe Malaysia wasn’t “consulted” before the ILS went in so have dug their heels in and said their airspace can’t be used Not sure how close to the truth this is

The HUD can project flight information but can also project an Infrared image that is very useful in inclement weather and at night Another piece of information about the HUD, the flight director projection is very sensitive, which is why we look like we are making a lot of control inputs, particularly on short final

You’re very welcome Generally with the Infrared you can see about 8 miles but it depends on the air along the line of sight. Rain, Mist or haze visibility may reduce down to 3-4 mile or less depending on the severity It can’t penetrate cloud so no visibility there unfortunately

That’s correct. Military airports to the East and West with a noise sensitive area to the south. To further the complexity, just north of the airport is Malaysian airspace which also adds to the challenges at Seleter

You’re absolutely correct 👍 The museums website states it’s an L model then says it was manufactured as a G model. Apparently the G model was dual purpose aerial refuelling and cargo transportation so that would make sense Given the conflicting model variants, I’ve changed the title to remove the variant designation Thank you for the correction. @@luchatrokaalvaradoguajardo5185I was not aware of fantastic safety record of this aircraft! I know of 2 flying with Air Koryo out of North Korea as VIP aircraft (had the privilege to see one on the ramp in Beijing!). Do you know where the rest are flying?

@@luchatrokaalvaradoguajardo5185I don’t think they were ever in the league of the DC-8 and B707 when it came to cabin size. They were always much bigger I can only imagine the robust landing gear was required to use the soviet era runways. Landed on a “concrete block” runway in Petrapavlovsk once…thought our landing gear was going to be torn off 😂😂

Thanks for the question. Occasionally we can get some “unexpected company” on the flight deck but generally they aren’t too distracting. In the simulator we are trained to focus on tasks during emergency situations, and whilst bugs on the flight deck isn’t covered, you do develop the skill of focussing on what’s important whilst managing distractions

Thanks for the question We do charter work based out of SE Asia so, basically, we go where the clients want to go! In many of our cases, our clients are doing business in China but we can fly anywhere throughout the world
