I loved your reaction. This song is another important commentary on war for profit from his catalog. Similar in theme to Eat Your Young. I'm so pleased with how Hozier continues to make meaningful music for what feels like a critical moment in world history. I don't know if you've reviewed or even heard his songs Swan Upon Leda (women's health rights) or Cherry Wine (domestic abuse), but if you get a chance it would be great to get your opinion. And if you review Cherry Wine, make sure it's the official video and play it through to the very end. The visuals after the music ends are really powerful. I look forward to watching your other music reviews. (P.S. I'm envious you live in what I think is the most beautiful country I've ever visited. Stunning land.)

I was very surprised to discover that this was not an original. There are versions of this tune recorded by Dave Brubeck in the early 1960s. I very much doubt it was considered to be about heroin then.

There won't be anymore posthumous songs. This started as John Lennon writing this in the 70's I believe. He recorded it on just a small tape recorder. What took until now was the technology to "clean it up" and make it ready for other Beatles to add the rest. I see others mentions Giles Martin's contributions also. Still Fab

According to Paul this will be the last. They have no more available that has all 4 Beatles playing and singing on it. John was murdered in 1980 and George died of Lung Cancer in 2001. The song was made from a 1977 Demo tape that John recorded on a cassette tape. They were able to separate Johns voice from the otherwise noisy and unclear recording. It is AI only in the sense that they were able to isolate John's voice and then add to it from partial attempts in 1997 and current with just Ringo and Paul. It definitely was a labor of love to make this available to honor John and George and give one last gift to their fans.

I absolutely love this track but to be honest, my first reaction to it was relief that they had managed to make anything presentable at all out of the demo! I was already familiar with the demo and I could see why George didn't have much enthusuasm for it, especially given the insuperable technological challenges which they faced when the three of them were working on it in the nineties. The final result was worth waiting for though. It's beautiful and I like it more every time I hear it. It was a good decision to excise John's original, meandering bridge but I have more than just a sneaking suspicion that Paul still plans to use that in some future composition. We'll see...

Her inspiration for this song and video was the life of 1920's actress Clara Bow. She saught electrotherapy for persistent sadness after a loss and was also forgotten by her family during a mental health crisis "I was supposed to be sent away, but they forgot to come and get me." Clara's descendents have reacted favorably to this nod to her.

Haven't heard this for years loved it back in the 60s.

I've never really fully understood this song but Quinn sounds like a positive influence and we could do with him or her paying us a visit sometime!

I do remember asking my mother what the song meant , its fluff dear good fluff she replied . So to this day l still don't know😃

So glad she liked it. The Moody Blues are my favourite band and this is one of my favourite songs. Not quite the best as I think New Horizons, Candle of Life and Watching and Waiting are slightly better - but I would not argue about it.
