Transfer Details of a Sculpt onto a Clean Topology Mesh - HOUDINI Tutorial (ZWrap Alternative)
Hey, everyone. In this video, I'll show you a step by step process on how you can wrap a mesh with clean topology on your sculpt or maybe a scan data with nasty topology using SideFX Houdini. This is similar to what R3DS Wrap or Faceform Wrap or ZWrap can also do.
You can download Houdini with free Apprentice license from SideFX's website: www.sidefx.com/download/

Where did you get the brushes (not standard) you used in the video?
I got them freely from Pablo Munoz Gomez and XMD. There are some brushes I got from Marco Tomaselli but he doesn't provide them anymore in his Artstation page, unfortunately
Your skills with Zmodeler are impeccable. Great work. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you! ZModeler is a powerful tool
@@junechevalier You are welcome. I agree, I use it all the time. Great looking armor btw.
@@shepherdcreations Thank you! I'm trying to make fantasy armor practical. Historically-inspired but of course with my own twist.
@@junechevalier I have been trying to do the same thing. Its an honor to see you work. Thanks a lot for sharing. If you would ever like to work on something together please let me know. It would be great to work with you.
@ That would be great. I’ll be sure to let you know in the future.
学多长时间可以达到你这样水平?
I have used ZBrush since 2018, but I also have a background in drawing and painting, which helps me learn sculpting more quickly
Your attention to detail is something else, absolutely gorgeous work.
Thank you! Most of it is not very noticeable to the general people, so sometimes I get conflicted if I should put this much effort into the details or not. At the end of the day, I love details, and I enjoy working on them haha
Can I get a link to the brushes and materials you use?
Here's one I got for free from Pablo Munoz Gomez: www.zbrushguides.com/resources/sculpting-brushes There's one pack that I got from Marco Tomaselli but he doesn't provide them anymore on his Artstation page, unfortunately
For the materials, I either scoured Fab or visit substance community assets: substance3d.adobe.com/community-assets?q=steel

Marvelous Designer :)
I got great tips from your videos thanks for sharing the process. I have a question. Which one is practical? starting with a base mesh or starting with a sphere or your approach.
That's awesome! For professional work I usually start with a base mesh, but for practice and personal projects, I prefer starting with a sphere or the headplane provided by ZBrush. I feel like I can take a sphere anywhere, whereas a base mesh does not give me that freedom of a blank canvas, if you know what I mean.
@@junechevalier I definitely got what you mean. Thanks for the answer. Looking forward to the rest of the work.
In the end, how long did it take you to create this character?
A little over 2 weeks in total
Thx for your answer
you can go so much faster with another method to get the proportions right 😯
Yes, there are many methods out there. I'm experimenting with what I feel the most comfortable for my process
You sir are insanely talented! I’m a million miles away from your skills but I will catch up one day. Love the time lapses and music. Tells a story!
Very kind words, thank you very much for the motivation! I am still learning every day.

Is that chair comfortable for sitting long? gaming, for example? 🤔😁
Sadly it has non-adjustable armrest and back, gonna have to endure the back pain 🦐
dude, put on some bgm and slow down the video. Good work btw
@@Zenynh0 the full video is available on my channel. It’s much clearer there than here because for shorts i had to make a video under 60 seconds out of a 5 hour footage and I’m still learning how to edit videos effectively 👍
What? no sound, no music, i have no idea what's going on, and it's not because i don't know how 3d modeling works, it's because i can barely catch up with the video itself, if you wanna make these types of shorts, you only show the most important moments so that your video isn't an unrecognisable mess, Just some constructive criticism (The model is fire though)
@@ecby5269 It was from a 5 hour footage and I’ve cut a lot of parts. I uploaded a video where you can see what techniques I used because it’s slow enough there and I didn’t cut a lot. 👍 all good
老师,笔刷可以下载吗?
I got the brushes from Pablo Munoz Gomez's free pack here: www.zbrushguides.com/resources/sculpting-brushes
The brushes like MT_Buildup series are from Marco Tomasselli's store on Artstation. But I'm not sure if he still sells them.
@@junechevalier 可以在你这里买吗?
@@Vlog-oc8hm No, unfortunately. I don't have the permission. You can DM Marco, he's a chill guy
@@junechevalier What is DM Marco?
amazing! can you make a real clothes out of that 3d pattern?
You can, there’s a software that can export that, it’s basically the same software as Marvelous Designer, called Clo3D
I won't subscribe now because I could see as I'm commenting there are 666 subscribers , may lord lucifer bless your channel
Very convenient that the number is reached while I'm doing a Death Pope series too. Is this a sign? Lol

이 모델의 사실성이 마음에 들어요. 더 많은 것을 보고 싶어요!
the attention to detail in this model is unreal. looks fantastic!
Thank you so much!
Thank you for the video! Should we attach the head to the body later or leave it as it is?
It depends on what you need the model for. Whether the head is detached or the whole body is in one mesh, it is up to you. I detached the head because I want the head to have higher resolution than the body, so it looks good in closeup shots, good for cinematics.
@ Thanks a lot!
@@lostwelshman55 You’re welcome!
Great work!
@@emilyarmstrong95 Thank you!
when making these models do you always need to sculpt the body from scratch? or there is some reusable base that you can build on top of that?
There’s no need to sculpt from scratch, especially if you’re time-constrained and it’s for a client or your boss. But sculpting from scratch is a good practice and a relaxing part of the process for me personally
Awesome thanks for sharing
