      I just went steady with my trimming tool at the bottom of the bowl and then blended in at the base 🙂

      I use around 1lb8oz the inside diameter is 15cm which should be wide enough for a normal block of butter

      The throwing is just the first stage, you have the trimming and glazing process not forgetting it being fired twice before it is finished, so like any creative process a lot is about the love of doing it rather than financial reward 🤣

    I would cut down on filling it with water if I were you, especially with this shape. The less water the better to maintain structural integrity. I would also slow your wheel down a bit once centered.😊

      No hole, as long as it is bone dry before bisque fire it is fine. It is moisture that causes explosions not air 😃

    Your technique is very clean and efficient. You use a lot of water but I guess the quicker you move and mop up the less issue that becomes. What's the clay body and cone? Thanks for sharing.

      Hi, you are right I do use lots of water, I have tried to just use the slip but I struggle with that 😂 it's a stoneware clay that I am using valentine's special fleck fires to cone 6. Hope that helps.

      Hi, I am using 6lb of a smooth stoneware clay that fires to a deep grey. Its from Wignet in Germany called 116 anthrazit. Hope that helps 🙂

    This is great. The shape was so even I love it. Whenever I make these they always seem to flat at the top. Wider on the hemisphere line than the longitude lines. You did really well.
