    Same logic works for Eastern Empire too. Disband most troops. Send the generals in Jerusalem and Jordan down to Petra with 2 extra units. Recruit a diplomat in the city bordering the west. Raise taxes every where to maximum. Move the diplomat near Hatra toward the city itself. End turn. There's a bit of RNG here, but the wester empire consistently sends an army within range of the diplomat we recruited. Set up the tribute offer, then request every city that leaves the offer as "very generous". That leaves us with 30 settlements. So we capture Petra. Dismantle a bunch of buildings to get some cash, then move the diplomat to Hatra, repeat the diplomacy trick with the Sassanids. You will have to offer peace in the deal as well, or they will refuse

    I didn't know how high the AI valued regular tribute (is it the same in M2 ?)... but once I have a solid economic base I can buy out much of a country's land through a worsening spiral. The AI usually builds much more troops than they can afford = they get broke. I buy one or a couple settlements : they have money so they'll make more troops, but have less income. Broke faster. And here I come again with an offer until they no longer accept to sell. At which point they are pathetically small. Making them addicted to my money.

    roads don't just facilitate trade level 1 do nothing (barbarians are limited to it) level 2 double the trade level 3 triple the trade (only romans) 5:42 those faded show how more would you get after port is completed. Hostile armies reduce income but it's displayed as campfire and it doesn't matter if they are on the road or not land hostile armies don't slow down land trade unless they siege (but they can occupy ports and watch towers)

    no. the grayed area is what you will GAIN from building the buildings in the build queue. you are building a better port and thats shows the change that will happen. i dont think rebels actually affect trade. they do however cause devastation. hostile armies always cause devastation on your regions, and rebels are always hostile... then u will see a reduction of income in the income penalty area. after a few turns in the same place, they will start causing massive devastation. u can even see the blackened tiles on the map. this is especially significant for massive armies. ALSO, trade exports give 5 times more than trade imports. for example, between your own cities, that export to Tingi that is worth more than 2000 dinarii, will earn you a fifth of that (400) as trade import income at Tingi itself. its way more valuable to export than to import, but both provide income. its best when trading between your own cities. cities with close ports can often trade a LOT, but they dont do naval trade if they have a land border.

  • @cobrazax
    @cobrazax ปีที่แล้ว

    wow nice!! and now u can also declare war on the eastern empire and it will auto cancel the tribute! so u got everything for free!

    Those rebels aren't preventing your trade to flourish. Instead, the difference of trade reflected is the projected one once you upgrade the port next to your actual trade. Rebels or enemy armies, I'd dare say that even your own, affect the economic growth of a region whenever they spend long enough in the countryside. You can see the effect both on the campaign map, as charred or burned down crops, and in the scrolls labeled as 'Devastation'.

    playing as brutii in remastered, patavium and carthage have so much squalor i can't have the 4 turns to upgrade them to the next city size to combat squalor. i have more than 600000 denarii in the bank, all squalor does for me is cause an issue. it doesn't prevent me from getting rich. what should i do? am i just straight up screwed out of patavium?

    • @totalwartom6495
      @totalwartom6495 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's some things you can try to fix this. First of all you go for the temple of Baal in every settlement. It gives public order bonus due to happiness and public order bonus due to law. This both reduces corruption and makes the settlement happier. For instance at the 4th rank or "Awesome temple of Baal" it gives 20% due to happiness and 20% due to law for a total of 40% improved happiness. The other temples only give 20%. Other than that you make make sure that your taxes are on low, that you keep a small garrison of 1-2 peasants. You can also build the execution square which gives 5,10 and 15% public order due to law at its various levels ( you need to build the market to rank 3 in order to unlock the execution square. The 20% law from the baal temple and 15% from the execution square should be more than enough to deal with the corruption in your settlements. Only Numidia and Carthage have the same culture so you will be getting massive culture penalties from any other settlement you take over. To get around this make sure to exterminate the population when you capture it and demolish all of the buildings that it lets you demolish. you might have bad public order for a turn or two but make sure to pump out the temples of baal and you'll be fine. If you are playing the original game you can also recruit a load of peasants to artificially lower the population and cancel it later. You can also build the academy tree if you're playing the remaster as this gives law. This does not apply to the original. Hope this helps

    I have another way of reducing population. If any town gets a plague I put a spy in there and make him infected. Then I use him to spread the disease to other towns. It's very useful against those fast-growing Egyptian cities

      you forgot the part where you delete all the military buildings. if you don't do that you'll be fighting against a doom stack which the settlement spawned in for free. I've had a settlement with 400 people living in it revolt and they got 2000 rebels defending it including 3 generals. Luckily the rest of the army was peasants but if it had an urban barracks there's no way I'd be able to recapture it

    • @lukadraganic
      @lukadraganic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@totalwartom6495 Good observation, that makes the job of retaking easier but I just couldn't be bothered to do it because many of these cities are of strategic importance and I don't have the patience to rebuild the barracks for x amount of turns. Besides that, this problem generally arises in later stages of the campign so one should already have sufficient doom stacks to deal with rebels, however strong their garrison is. Another possible approach to solving the squalor problem is by recruiting peasants in the overpopulated regions and disbanding them in underdeveloped ones.

    Ah yes, the Armenians......in the history of the world they have only been strong for about 50 years. Also Armenia in this is very historically inaccurate. For e.g. the capital of Artaxata was built 100 years after the start date of RTW. All in all I'm glad to have found yet another channel that plays the older TW games. Modern TW games are absolutely terrible especially Warhammer and Three kingdoms.
