This recording reminds me of my mom driving me to school listening to WKYC way back when
Additional, I miss you ma
WARNING: they are only miming to the studio versions (most noticeable on In The Eye of The Sun- the backwards sound effect that commences it)
In 2003 I saw Kreiger and Mazarek (w/Ian Astbury - Doors of the 21st Century) and only then realized what masterful musicians they were.
May Mr. Larry Skuce forever Rest in Peace 💞😇🎶💞 it's such a joy to hear his voice again! Of course it's always delightful to listen to Mr. John Densmore speaking about his life! Thanks for sharing this!
Wow, those lyrics on the 1st one were uniquely ridiculous, if they were trying to prove they were floundering without Jim, that did it. Robby [or Ray] has no business on a lead mic, his playing was unimaginative, really just a stinker. Sounded a bit Doors'ish at times, I heard a few bars from Love Her Madly, but that was just embarrassing from such accomplished, tight musicians. Seems like their only shot was to do like AC/DC did and find a strong front man to replace Jim, and I guess thats just it, they calculated Jim could not be replaced so their only option was to take over vocals themselves and add some players. Too, any new singer would have taken extreme heat and ridicule trying to step into Jims boots, would have taken balls of steel and a very thick skin to take on that role, not to mention a boatload of talent. Any guy suitable for that would for sure just wanted to start his own band rather than face heat like that and uselessly try to live up to fans expectations replacing an iconic legend. Can't blame them for latching onto "The Doors" though, they probably thought name recognition alone might push them into an acceptable post Morrison career, but it didn't. Although they all shined on their instruments, especially Ray, Jim had that intangible "it" factor, and that is something that can't be learned, can't be proclaimed, you just have it or you don't, and very few do. But you or I would have done the same, look at Axl Rose latching onto GNR and he was the only original member for years. Lynynrd Skynyrd, down to 0 original members, just a glorified cover band, but they keep going on with no intention of finally putting the name to rest. It is a brand, and asking the person who holds the rights to the name change it is like asking General Motors to change their name, that is just unthinkable ,,, But apparently the 3 surviving members of The Doors were forced into that conclusion and called it quits before they tarnished their legacy too bad. At that point they could have tied another name but lets face it, they were typecast as "The Doors" for life, same as actors like the Brady Bunch, so they just made the best of being former members.
still screams the doors, for me it works,
The Count is one smooth operator bailing out the phantom of the opera like he did.
Grazie ❤
PA technology has come so far since then. Things really started to change in late '67 and early '68. No more high school football announcer horn speakers.
22:30 John Lee Hooker died not four months later
Cuando apenas la sociedad se empezaba a descomponer
Too bad there is no video of the show.
A bit surprising that a local show was still in B/W then- most local stations had made the switch to color with some public tv stations being the last to do so! Why on earth did this show go off the air- WNJU wanted more time for Spanish programming and wrestling?
I shared a joint with Ray in Dallas early 1977. I was a DJ at the U of Iowa in early 1976 when his band Nite City came out.
Love this❤
That's incredible that this footage from the Fantasy Fair somehow turned up. This rock festival actually pre-dated Monterey Pop by a week. Hopefully more can be located and edited into some sort of release for public consumption.
that's a lot of cavorting.
I had always thought of Robbie's "Love Me 2Xs" lick as "Delta Doors" ... Learned something I hadn't known before, Thanks ! ~ rip Spider John
My favourite band of all time, but my god Ray could be insufferable sometimes. I wish he could just stop mythologising for 5 minutes. So many people get the impression Jim Morrison was pretentious but what they're really reacting to is Ray's pretetentious description of Jim.
We Don't need narration german dude 😅
R.I.P. Spider, going to listen to my vinyl copy of this tonight.
The doors my rock band favorite!😊
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🦎👑
This series is the best of all The Doors documentaries. The actual people speaking like Holtzman and Jim's friends really add insight none of the others have.
I thought both albums without Morrison were excellent. Robbie is such a unique guitar player.
They were still the door it was all four of them not just Jim and all the senile old grouches here are mad they won’t live their hay day back in the 60s boo hoo
I think the 2 albums they done after Jim died are fantastic!!
He just say: "build me a woman!"...look at this
is the audio from the same concert? it was obviously shot on 8mm film which is silent... was the audio flown in from another show?
His voice sounds shot.
Jacob, I see editing numbers on the film. Does additional footage of the festival exist. I am interested in the band that played following the Doors.
Great album. Thanks for sharing. The next cut is pretty damn good too.
I saw this Doors line-up in Copenhagen in April 1972. I especially remember them playing the beautiful 'Ships With Sails'. Atomic Rooster were the support band.
Robby is so chill and understated.....and responsible for most of the "hits".....and his playing was such a unique hybrid of technique and style
God damn what I would give. I need to get that pesky Time Machine running again
Toma ya!! Graciassssss❤
Is that Richard Manuel on rhythm guitar
This film footage of The doors performing live (June 10 1967) must have been shot from a private source.and recently donated and uploaded onto TH-cam because I have never seen this film footage of the Doors before and I've seen a whole hell of a lot of film footage of The Doors both on and off stage. There's one thing that is not disclosed about this live film footage. Nothing is mentioned about where this concert took place. The title states " Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival " But that doesn't mean anything. What is Fantasy Fair and which Magic Mountain Festival. There are several Magic Mountain music festivals. Which one!
It was held on Mt. Tamalpias in an ampatheater in Marin California. It was a benifit for sf children .
The first fest hippie of the history
80 years ago,Jim Morrison was born,my lifes been better for that, been digging your lyrics and poetry since 1978,From Melbourne, Australia 8/12/23,the day of my retirement

The first time I've ever seen Ray playing from Stage Left, rather than the right side, which is where he was always situated in all the footage I've seen of the Doors down through the years. Q: Do any hard core Doors completists happen to know why?
In 1967 it was pretty common that Ray was in left side,
Jim o maior de todos!!!!
Danny's book, Wonderland Avenue, is one of my favourite books.
They really weren't the Doors anymore.
I’ve never seen Robbie play an Epiphone Casino live before.
Eye of the Sun, The Misquito, and Verdilac are the best of the two albums...in my opinion.
in the eye of the sun is where my troubles begun I was takin it easy I was havin some fun
It is the most powerful live performance of Break On Through that I ever heard.
Mark from MTV vj is the host.
