Scenes certainly animated by Gil Turner, mostly from his time in Friz Freleng's unit at Warner Bros during the early 1940s. Also includes his animation for Walter Lantz and Jam Handy.

Steward, no more cocktails for the little man in the pool.

Howell... Thurston Howell III!
Magoo Goes Overboard 19.2.23 1229pm allegedly they brought magoo back to children's BBC tv. can't say i would indulge with a new magoo. these universal artists pictures are very much enjoyed. i surmise more ethical concerns will task the myopic adventurer in the new skits? anyhow; we like united artists - refer to tell tale heart. that's pretty cool. every 6 years or so i mention what a fine animated film that is. as i do when i wander off to appreciate yosemite sam or foghorn leghorn.
Not United Artists, UPA... United Productions of America. They did Gerald McBoing Boing, Dick Tracy & other cartoons & animated movies.
@@billingram-jd8mm Comments on ‘Magoo Goes Overboard’ 0731am 7.12.24 ahhh, ok. i was under the impression united artists also created magoo cartoons... i am sure it created the amazing tell tale heart animation, a rendering of the edger alan poe tale. no matter.... you read wiki, i take it?

No lo puedo entender no se inglés así que niño voy a seguir
Having been directed to this, via a Bugs Bunny article, it's obvious a Bugs Bunny short about this life borrowed this. Including the repetious song ( different song, but repeated in each cut of different reviews.)
Mr. Magoo never did make it to the Optometrist, if He had, He just wouldn't be Mr. Magoo!!!
I'm glad Clarabelle Cow is in this since she's one of my favorite Disney characters and cows are my favorite animals, including her.🐮🐄
This cartoon was written by Dave Fleischer, Izzy Sparber and Dave Tendlar.

Makes me wonder if he joined in late on animating Fritz the Cat? The movie had a lot of trouble, so i wouldnt doubt he joined in after some of the animators jump ship

0:09 Someone seeing this cartoon in the 50s on a syndicated TV program: Ah yes, this is... a... M... what?
Some of the early TV prints censored out Max Fleischer’s name. This was one of them.
I grew up reading Mr Magoo comics classic funny as hell
Poor man needs to get his eyes checked gets everything ads backwards lol
He's supposed to be Nearsighted, but I Am, & I see things up close fine without glasses. Magoo is basically Blind!

It's been sixty years since I saw this. Thank you for posting this memorable and imaginative Scrappy cartoon.
Even if I wasn't born in the 40's - 60's I still watch Scrappy sometimes. This cartoon needs a revival.

Owen is my grandfather, a quiet humble man, that loved to draw. He taught me a lot about life... it was great to see this. He died in 1994. I still think of him often.....
He was pretty awesome!
Check the end of this video for a dedication to him: th-cam.com/video/NjOS2Lqlwss/w-d-xo.html
XadaTen , That was cool!!! Are you a cartoonist?
Found some old Bob Hope comics he did. The art is AMAZING. A legendary artist.
Aye Yuh Aye Yuh , Hi there, I often think the same thing, as I am his granddaughter, and was always in awe of him. But, my grandfather was a very simple man, from a very simple background, fame and notoriety were not goals that he sought. He loved to draw, and he felt grateful that he was able to make a living doing something he absolutely loved. He was actually an amazing man, with strong virtues, and he was an incredible artist. I have hung onto some of his original drawings.
Do you have the full version of the workprint?
In every print of this cartoon I've seen, there are one or two audio gaps - both within the first two minutes. Is it assumable that there aren't any copies without the gaps? After all, at least three different prints I've seen have them present. It seems like an error that might have occurred during production but at the same time I don't believe they'd let it fly so easily.
I guess this is the uncensored version from "More Silly Symphonies DVD 2", however there's a PAL version with better quality but terribly cropped, I dunno if there's a better version of this short elsewhere... I'd really like to have this short in HD, at least 720p...
8:48 What's the cartoon here?
Much Ado About Mutton (1947).
What's the cartoon just before?
That was awesome! I totally forgot how much I loved Mr. Magoo! XD
