    There is a whole lot of shaking going on right there at the start but you kept going and the end result is amazing 👌

    Was everything you made in your etsy store made on your Central Machinery lathe? The urn is beautiful.

    Was the branch dry. If not was there much cracking or warping? I just picked up a load of mulberry but it was cut down two days ago so I’m a little nervous to turn it. Thanks

      I got my material from a couple of piles of wood from different yards and farms in my area, so when I turned it it couldn't have aged more than a year. I suspect it was around 3-6 months old. I have had no issues with the pieces cracking or warping at all, and it has been around a year since I turned that particular piece. I would just be diligent about applying a good moisture sealing finish, and I bet your projects will be fine with no cracking and minimal warping if you turn it parallel to the pith. Thanks for watching!

    Thats a great project, I love the way cherry catches the light. A word of safety, I'll second the drawstring comment. I have personally had drywall screws catastrophically fail while turning a project. Invest in deck screws as they are much stronger.

    You should really remove the drawstring from your sweatshirt! One of those catch and wrap your face will be part of your turning.

    That's a great piece. One suggestion (if that's OK) would be to knock off the corners if you can to make it a little easier to round off. But that feeling when it does round off is amazing!

    Nice….but you need to check out how to make & use proper mortise or tenon on the bottom & have a good clean look on the bottom. There are a ton of wood turners on YT that demo the process. Or….use a glue block.

    • @dzwoodcraft4337
      @dzwoodcraft4337 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I did use a tung oil on that project, which tends to be a matte finish. I could have buffed it, but I didn't consider that option at the time. Thanks for watching!

    • @dzwoodcraft4337

      I bet it is possible! I really don't have the equipment to dry the wood enough for such a project, but it would be gorgeous ! Thanks for watching!
