This October, Eimear Burke will lead a retreat visiting the famous sites in Ireland relating to the birth of Lugh, and telling the story of how a little Druid woman, by the name of Bioróg, helped outwit a tyrant so that Lugh might survive, and go on to slay Balor of the Evil Eye.

Chant: Welcome to my life, welcome to my heart
มุมมอง 1.2K5 ปีที่แล้ว
A chant recorded as it came to me in the woods today - please excuse the blustery sounds in the background. The words are: Is é do bheatha Dhanú is é do bheatha i mo shaoil, is é do bheatha i mo chroí, is é do bheatha i m'anam, go raibh amhlaidh. Is é do bheatha Bhríd..... It means welcome Danú, welcome into my life, welcome into my heart, welcome into my soul, it is so. Welcome Brighid.... Lit...
Night court ends with highly spiritual song.....
มุมมอง 1.1K6 ปีที่แล้ว
At the end of every ritual, we hold a night court, where people offer songs, poetry or other creative work. Often, it is beautiful and inspiring. But, sometimes, at the end of the night, an element of levity creeps in :-D
Harp music at the night court after a ritual
มุมมอง 1.8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
When we finish our rituals, we generally have a pot-luck feast, for which everyone brings a dish, and then settle down to a night court, a safe space for people who wish to offer a piece of poetry, music or other creative expression. Here is Eimear Burke playing the harp.

Irish Mythology - Song of Amergin, sung by bard Arthur Billington (a.k.a. ZZ Birmingham)
มุมมอง 8166 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the Robert Graves translation of the song famously sung by Amergin, bard of the Milesians, when they came to Ireland. I love the way Arthur is totally un-phased by the comings and goings of the 3 Castles cat! Kilkenny Druidry is based in 3 Castles, Kilkenny, Ireland. It was founded by Eimear Burke and her late husband, Howard Campbell.
Learning to chant Imbas (the Irish equivalent of the Awen)
มุมมอง 6K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Druids are accustomed to chanting the Awen, which is the Welsh word for inspiration. We chant it either 3 times or 9 times. In Ireland, we may also use the Awen, or we may use Imbas instead, which is the same word but in Irish. Kilkenny Druidry is a college of Druidry based in 3 Castles, Kilkenny, Ireland. Earth mother watch over you my brothers and sisters
This is so nice. 🤍☮️💚🕊️ I appreciate hearing you recite this prayer in both English and Irish at the beginning of your Fireside Chats. I just discovered that you have your own channel. It would be nice to see your picture on the notifications for the fireside chats. Thank you! 💚
4 quarters? That's very Wiccan. I have always as a Druid, work with the 3 Realms of Land, Sea & Sky by opening the Gates, rather than cast circles like the Wiccans do. 🤔
Eimear, can you post the Irish text for these things. I am doing most of my workings in Scottish Gaelic and it is a lot easier to work the translation over from the text. Thanks so much for this! I look forward to start using it!
For me Druidry is a pursuit of inspiration, self mastery, the mastery of skills, the mastery of talents, and the gaining of knowledge. This is why they called Dagda the "Good God". Because he was good at many things and had mastered many skills; not just for his benevolence. I believe this spiritual focus on the mastery of ourselves and nature has largely contributed to the growth in our civilization. Nature, our roll in it, our understanding of it, and the mastery of it is the fundamental source of all that I've mentioned.
Is that Gaelic?
❤❤❤i am an Italian lover of OBOD, but i don't have one good knowledge of Keltic Trditions. And so, what mean "Seanchai" ? Many thanks. ❤❤❤
Eimear you are so beautifully inspiring. I think my desire to play the harp was inspired by you. Yes I have been noticing how plants in Hawaii grow differently in different areas.
You have inspired me to want to play the harp among other things..... What brand of harp are you playing. It sounds so beautiful
I so appreciate this prayer Eimear and look forward to joining your order.
5 years later and seeing this for the first time. My goosebumps had goosebumps 💚💚💚💚🙏💚💚💚💚

Another beautiful piece Eimear. The harp is such a lovely peaceful instrument. Many thanks for uploading and sharing this with us.
This is a beautiful tune Eimear. I wish there had been a longer piece recorded. It is one instrument I would love to be able to play. It has such a beautiful sound. I first came to love the harp after listening to my favourite band Clannad and later their sister Enya in my teens (I'm 56 now). Also the few recordings I have of mediaeval music. Please upload more of your harp playing. Blessings from England.
Do you have a playlist of your storytelling videos? I simply can't get enough! I would love to have an easy way to find more, if you've done more. If not, would you consider putting out more of your phenomenal storytelling, and organizing it into a playlist?
It is a day of mourning here on Turtle Island for me, remembering the history associated with the indigenous, and I am re-inventing the holiday, and as a part of the re-invention, I sit with this prayer, and begin the process of responding into the draw to lean into this language, this prayer, and begin the process of learning it. This is how I grieve, this is how I cultivate magic, this is my expression of admiration.
I’m so glad you recorded this! I have been learning Irish and really wanted to bring it into my ritual and sacred space!!
Thank you
Good morning, thank you.
Can someone tell me the story though?

A lifelong lesson of wisdom for times of joy and periods of difficult challenges. This poem always helps me to find balance when I need to navigate life’s storms-thank you for this🐉
Think it’s interesting she’s wearing a Cross
Brigid’s cross predates Christianity, if that was what was interesting to you about it.
@@ajlee4296 The Celtic Cross- the Christ controversy- he travelled Europe before he went to Palestine.
Yeah, I'm 100% sure the Druids and Bards were not constrained by JS Bach's Equal Temperament; may do some good to do serious research into the history/archeology/anthropology of ancient Irish musics, which is difficult since they, like almost everyone else in earth did not have written notations such as the nume or the nemonics that Guido of Arettzo made, Sean Nos may be closer.
Powerful chant

Great wee tale Eimear. Love to here more stories about The Good People. Hope you are well. Blessings. 🍀
Beautiful, many thanks
A potential druid living in his head won't get lost so far he is following the pattern... Druidry becomes a level in the journey... not by unconnected event memorisation.
Cool
Hmmmn.. The pattern eventually led me to you...
It's just the algorithm of youtube 'cause of what you've been watching/searching
I don't know why these people call themselves "Druids". In ancient Celtic society, there were 3 prerequisites of being a Druid: 1; they had to be born into the Druidic caste, 2; they had to be men, and 3; they had to undergo 20 years of training and memorization of Druidic teachings and practices, that is, the rituals which they performed. Then, and only then, were they accepted as being Druids. And as they never wrote down any of their practices, (and it ceased to be a living oral tradition, because the Roman empire and Roman Catholic Church persecuted and destroyed them) it's impossible to know what they were.
it took them 20 years bc they had to learn other things that we mostly learnt during school, lol. Druids today are still very different from ancient druids, and we aren’t trying to be like the ancient druids. It’s a practice that has evolved just like literally every other practice ever. 🖤✨ You can still practice a similar thing and not identify as a druid. ☺️
There were female druids.
@@idunsgarden I remember reading a history book years ago where the Roman Empire went to a spiritual island of the Druids and destroyed them all as well as the trees and plants that provided healing. I thought, at least the healers, were ALL female Druids. Maybe I'm remembering it wrong but...
@@loissmith1345 there were multiple historical accounts of female Druids. I think the revival fraternities from the 18th and 19th centuries gave people the idea that they were all men.
@@idunsgarden And also the man who wrote 21 lessons of Merlin. There are historical references to female Druids. The real point is to connect with the magic that is Mother Earth and plants and nature.
Where you a nurse by any chance? You just have that demeanor🙂
