Since retiring from 35 years of teaching university-level political science, I've had time for my earlier interests - composition and creative writing. Also check out my first novel [Queen of the Night: A Fugitive's Journey Across 1964 America] available at Amazon.
Les Ondes 2 (Peggy's Cove, NS, Canada)
My New Age minimalist oscillating piano piece is punctuated by my videos of the turbulent waves at famous Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia.

Mussorgsky's Macabre Mountain: Halloween Special
มุมมอง 111หลายเดือนก่อน
For a special Halloween video this year, here is my electronic arrangement of Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain festooned with original gothic pictures of a hellish Witches' Sabbath. Satan himself arrives on a massive volcanic riser, but the devilish cavorting is terminated by the dawn church bell tolling of All Saints' morning.
Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain (Soundscapes of Spain 5)
มุมมอง 812 หลายเดือนก่อน
My photos of the fabulous Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain required a more modern, spacious and ambient composition than my previous entries in this Soundscapes of Spain series. The video completes a fantastical tour, outside and inside, of Gaudi's amazing cathedral without the crowds and long lines.
Toledo Cathedral, Stairway to Heaven (Soundscapes of Spain 4)
มุมมอง 1.4K3 หลายเดือนก่อน
I have set my numerous photos taken in Toledo, Spain this April of 2024, to my own contemplative, 4-part hymn composed in early Renaissance-style. Though most of the video, highlights the Gothic main features of the Cathedral, it ends with the fantastic Baroque Girola Transparente, a real "Stairway to Heaven."
Alhambra, Granada: Soundscapes of Spain 3
มุมมอง 804 หลายเดือนก่อน
My music mixes flamenco and ambient styles to accompany a video built from photos of a visit to the famous Alhambra of Andalusia in Spring of 2024. I make an appearance myself, "smelling the roses" at the very end.
Mezquita Cordoba : Soundscape of Spain 2
มุมมอง 585 หลายเดือนก่อน
Mezquita has a huge, beautiful former mosque which, after the reconquest of Cordoba, had a splendiferous Christian cathedral built in its very centre. Hence the Baroque musical intrusion in the middle of the piece. This is the second in my series of electronic music videos inspired by my recent visit to Spain.
Montserrat: a Musical Fantasy
มุมมอง 1016 หลายเดือนก่อน
An ambient, Medieval soundscape decorated with photos especially of the chapel of the Black Madonna, from a recent visit to the Benedictine abbey in Spain near Barcelona.
Save the Monarchy (a coronation anthem for a Once and Future King)
มุมมอง 1958 หลายเดือนก่อน
This piece was inspired by rehearsal for an upcoming concert by a university choir I sing with, featuring famous Coronation Anthems. Can you identify the two musical jokes that comprise the music in my anthem (not including the incessant drum beat)?
Year Of The Wood Dragon

In Chinese Astrology, the wood element brings Creativity, Calmness, Originality and Steadfastness to the Dragon’s Power and Success. Seems an auspicious time to tryout the generative music features of my DAW in a random-pitch ambient piece. [Best to listen with headphones for the full spatial effect.]
Handel's Sheban Queen Arrives !!
มุมมอง 999 หลายเดือนก่อน
Arrival of the Queen of Sheba is the famous instrumental piece from Handel’s Solomon 18th century oratorio. Here I’ve remixed it, added a drum track and re-envisioned the video as a child’s crazy dream. Enjoy! The soundtrack is very busy, and so it sounds best in headphones.

Dream of a Silent Night (Ambient Christmas 4)

Wagner's Ghost Ship: Halloween Special
มุมมอง 162ปีที่แล้ว
My Halloween Special composition for this year was inspired by the ghostly sailor’s chorus of Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman. The images that I’ve generated for the video have turned it into something of an unearthly nautical epic.
Flying Over the Tetons (Ambience 6)
มุมมอง 46ปีที่แล้ว
Over the Tetons (Ambience 6) In the fall of 2019 I filmed these videos from a small plane near and over the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. This summer I composed the epic, ambient-style soundtrack to celebrate these majestic scenes from that flight. If you like this music video, please try the others from US National Parks in my series Ambience Series: Grand Canyon NP Ambience 2 and Ambience 4 Cedar ...
Finding Time 1
มุมมอง 101ปีที่แล้ว
Finding Time (Pendulumatic Pandemonium) No ambience this release. This is my most ambitious and harmonically complex composition to date and has taken me many months to get to this version. No AI has used in the construction of this work! No video either; just sit back for four minutes and follow the frenetic flow!

Impresionante, gracias por subirlo
Beautiful! We were on the tour with you. So glad you captured the beauty of Montserrat and the chapel.
Excellent!! I’m a huge fan of the music pairing with the captured video. It fits very well, and it totally creates an atmosphere. Great stuff!!
I remember the Soviet national from my brief tenure with the Moscow Circus. I hear shreds of it in your work. Well done.
What's not to love about Bubble Lights?
Very nice. The use of reverb was effective. Just enough to portray the ethereal nature of cathedrals of this size. Good work, Steve. Happy Christmas.
Thanks! I always appreciate comments.
something’s missing: screaming voices!
Perfect Hallowe’en music. Some of the passages remind me of the Japanese synthesizer maestro from the 70s. (Tomita, I think his name was).
Great Steven!
Great, Steve! Thanks for the fun.
Very cool...The slides work well with the music.
Awesome, thank for sharing!
