What the hell am I doing?
Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 21 พ.ย. 2023
One Man. One Boat. One World. Zero Clues.
Follow the journey as I attempt to learn how to sail, and navigate from scratch. I will attempt to get my Dayskippers Qualification, and sell everything to buy an ex-charter Sailboat in Greece, sail the Mediterranean and Greek Islands, whilst playing gigs and You Tubing to supplement my income, then attempt to sail across the Atlantic, up through the Caribbean Islands to the Florida Keys and Miami, to arrive at the 2026 FIFA World Cup Of Football.
Its a big dream, but it's better than sitting at home.

EP.4 - Novice Sailor SMASHED BY A STORM, Port Stephens to Gold Coast.
มุมมอง 7K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
The final leg of my first ever sail has me questioning everything and preparing for the yacht to sink. Captain Dan teaches me the ropes and probably has a giggle as I completely crap it when two storms come at us from two different directions and meet right above us for one wet and wild ride into Byron Bay and on to the Gold Coast. Will this make me a sailor or will this be my first and last sail?
Ep 3 Massive Yacht Envy Sailing from Pittwater to Port Stephens

After a massive rain event in the Hunter Valley, the weather has improved, so I travel back from Melbourne via train to Sydney, check out Sydney Harbour and all the boats I love but can't afford in Pittwater. Get chased of a TV set in Palm Beach. Then meet up with Captain Dan to get sailing again towards Port Stephens. EPISODE 3 - Palm Beach, More Pittwater Boat Porn, Port Stephens Race Week Fe...

Keep up the good work!
Nice vid 😊 cheers 🍻 Marty Qld
Great job on the camper and the food trailer, now you just gotta learn to sail 😂
You're telling me! 🤣😬
If a Bavaria is advertised for 10k pay less than 5.
You're in my head...
That Airstream 😍
Very cool projects Pete! Good Luck in Malaysia, be careful over there.
Great video! I grew up on Pittwater and explored it extensively as a young fella. Way more boats there now of course! I now live on the Central Coast just north of Lion Island in Umina beach. I still look across Broken Bay towards Pittwater and remember my childhood there. The whole area, including the Hawkesbury river, is such a beautiful place to live.
Please ditch the background noise, like that used during Lighthouse story. It makes it difficult for those of us with poor hearing to pick the words out of the general noise.
Thanks for the valuable feedback, apologies and I will address that in future videos. You can also turn on the CC (Closed Captions) in the bottom right hand corner. Regards - Pete
Great narration and video work, excellent video
Thanks Mate! :)
Beautiful place Peter. Hope to see you in Malaysia towards the end of the year.
Do we get a virtual tour of your boat. I like your down to earth commentary.
You're a great story teller, time will allow for more content to captured. Many thanks !
Nice work mate.
"...ok. Back to the happy stuff." Just like that. 🤣👍
🤣
Your videos are great. Love that Metung was featured in the first. Good luck with your adventures.
You were so lucky to see those dolphins..Having sailed the east coast numerous times I've never had the privilege of seeing that...I've seen glowing wash from the yacht but not dolphins...1st time sailor and Utuber your doing great, entertaining and informative...keep it up...I'm hooked
@@martinknope9805 thanks Martin and welcome aboard. Captain Dan was telling me that it happens a little bit but I had never heard of it with the Dolphins before, and I still feel so blessed to have seen it three hours into my first ever sail. The bioluminescence happens quite often on the Gippsland Lakes And it’s where I live so if and when I get my own boat, I’ll definitely get out there to try to experience it again and film it a little more comprehensively. Thanks so much for the encouragement, cheers mate.
Wow those dolphins!
One of the great things to see in this beautiful world!
Good video. Yip, Mother Nature will test you when you least expect it. When you think you know it all she will give you a lesson you will always remember. Good luck in your search. We bought 2 Beneteaus in the Caribbean. Buying out of The Moorings fleet after their 5 year contract is a good way to get a good boat, if you can afford it. Good Luck - your life has just changed.
I have definitely considered buying there, funnily enough a was looking at a beneteau moorings 440, perfect for what I want to do... and very affordable... I still might get one of those, if i can find the right one. Also like the late nineties/early 2000's Beneteau 510's, 500's and 50's. We might have to have a chat some time! Thanks for getting onboard and welcome to the madness!
Keep us informed, take us on your boat hunt.
I will.. :) Flights booked... off overseas to an exotic location in 8 days to possibly buy a yacht... Watch this space.
You’ve taken that 1st step towards the Rest of your Life 🍾🥂 Bravo
Thank you! If feels good, thats for sure. :)
Fabulous video of the cliffs ❤ Beautiful
Thank you, although I'd love to go back and not be rushed... it was 20x more stunning that I could show.
Hello from Denmark. Looking forward to follow for more.
Hello from Australia! Web hope you're looking after Mary. Thanks and welcome aboard!
"...radioactive dolphins!" 🤣 Welp... that earned you another subscriber.
@@AlfOfAllTrades this bit was suggested by my friend’s 11 year old. Comedy genius now employed by the channel 🤣
Love the high quality voice over work mate great job ✌️
@@Epic76ers Thanks mate, hopefully it’s getting better every episode…
You go man, do not look back!
@@factanonverba6169 I’m pedalling as hard as I can!! 🤘😁
You're a legend bro!!!🤙🤙🤙
@@MichaelBarbara-fm1xc a legend in my own mind. 🤣
Brilliant first episode but the 'musak' was a tad too overpowering and couldn't really hear your dulcet tones!
@@rogerdinnis3816 Thanks Roger, I kinda noticed that… but too late and adjusted it in the next episodes… hopefully. A mate of mine said that the reason the video is getting so many views is because people had to watch it three times to understand what I was saying 🤣🤣 it might be a good strategy! 🤣
Love it! Subscribed and looking forward to watching more. I too have a serious spine injury - resulting from a training accident in military flight training, where I have titanium fusion of pretty much my entire neck down to my thoracic section (C2 to T1), and more in my lumbar spine (L4 to L5, S-I), but I'm hoping to still be able to do what you're doing - retire (I'm 54) and live and cruise on a sailboat.
Geez mate I'm so sorry to hear that, What you have sounds way worse that what I have. I hope it doesn't restrict you. All the very best and thanks for getting on board. And please let me know when you get out there. -Pete
@@wthaidThank you, and I'll certainly be sure to do that!
Great stuff I think your hooked
Thank you! Welcome to the channel :)
Great video. You have a great way about you to tell a story. Sailing will change your life for the better. It will test you to the max but then give you moments only few people get to experience. Keep sailing and telling the story - you are on the right floating pathway. Good Luck.
Thanks so much! It's really what I need atm, and so good to hear it from those that know. very excited for what is to come.
Please keep posting !
I definitely will! Welcome aboard!
Great video. You are destined for big things. Fantastic story telling. Cheers Chris
Thanks Chris, I'm really enjoying your channel too mate... waaaay more courageous than me, that's for sure. Keep up the great work!
Also, what’s the song reference?
Not sure what you mean? there are a few used in this episode...
Those cliffs are spectacular. What’s the geology?
Sandstone apparently but I don't know for sure... I'd love to know if you find out...
Wow! I’ve seen bioluminescence. I’ve seen dolphins. But I’ve never seen dolphins creating bioluminescent auras! Neato!!
Write it on the bucket list! IT'S MAGIC!
I'm under 4 minutes in and hooked! Hello from Fiji!!
Thanks so much! Welcome aboard the only sailing channel without a boat!! :D And hope to see you in Fiji one day soon!
Thats a lot of b roll bro but still good!
@@papachuck6007 Thanks Mate, I’m a bit camera shy after the accident, but slowly getting more confident.
Well, im in the first 150 subs
@@papachuck6007 Thank you! And welcome aboard! I really appreciate the support. :)
Pittwater leaves gold coast water ways for dead as u probably have allready found out
@@barneyscott8634 to be fair I haven’t seen everything between the Broadwater and north Moreton bay, but I’m totally in love with Pittwater
5 minutes in and this is the best! Love how you tell a story.
Thanks mate, it means a lot... I'm learning as I go and hopefully improving.
@@wthaid loved it! Watched the series last night. Looking forward to more in the future!
@@Aussie86Fighter thanks mate… now I just need a boat! 🤣 Something is cooking though… shhh don’t tell!
Brave man flying a drone over Sydney harbour. Lots of fines.
I'm not brave, I just got someone else to do it. 😁👍

If you dont know whst the hell you are doing, for sure you have all the signs of being a lunatic.
🤣My friends have also told me this. Numerous times.
Hi, I just completed a solo run from Sydney to Bribie and back in my first full year of sailing . I know that feeling of fear and the adrenaline. I liked it to, being in a survival situation, the only way to get through it is, to do it. It’s such a buzz. Well done on your trip. Nothing like the feeling of achieving.
Hi! Thanks for the message! That must have been an awesome thing to do! I cannot wait to do my first solo sail... We must have been almost going up at the same time. I'll keep an eye on. your channel, hopefully we can meet up for a beer at some point. Stay safe out there! -Pete
@@wthaid you did it smart. Build up knowledge and experience. Solo passages will change you forever! When you do a solo, I would love to hear of you agree with that comment. Just keep sailing. It’s amazing!!
Keep posting! Your openness and honesty is fantastic
