Having not hiked for decades, life having gotten in the way, I got back into hiking with my Grandson Michael and the old fire was rekindled. Now I share my love for the wild places and the various peaks with you to enjoy. I'm not a gear freak, though quality gear is important. I'm not a "gram counter" though I'm working to shed pack weight to further my hiking distances. I just loving to see the wild world that God has blessed us with.

Down in Florida for business again, I decided to knock 7 or 8 miles off the northern end of the Florida Trail. Ft. Pickens is really cool plus some miles on the beach and some road walk

#nh48 #NH48FourSeasons #NHFall #NH48Fall On a dreary and raining day I completed the 3rd peak for the 4 seasons list. Hale, Moosilauke and Cabot are now "in the books". I still have 45 left with one or more season to go!
Presidential Traverse Attempt (Fall NH48 #???)
มุมมอง 11021 วันที่ผ่านมา
#SafetyOverSummits #SaftyFirst #NH4K #PresidentialTraverse #NH48Fall I've had this one on the calendar for quite some time. Weather looked reasonable and while I expected I would be hiking into the dark, I thought it was doable. And it would have been, if the weather had met the predictions! How far do you think I made it?

Alex, Pemi and I climbed Mt. Starr King and Mt. Waumbek for my 17th Fall NH48 summit. No views until we stopped at Starr King on the way down. But when the weather improved, we had lots of visitors!

Here is an pretty easy fall hike up Mt. Paugus. Except for the slide, that was a BEAST! Any for the sharp eyed, yes I lost a tooth. Dentist was seen the following Tuesday and it is fixed temporarily and will have a permanent fix in place by New Years if all goes well. #nhhiking #52withaview #nhfoliage #whitemountains

# HikeSafe #hikingsafety #riskmanagement #HikingRiskManagement While I intended this to be sort of a filler video, it seems to have taken off, so I thought I'd better put in a proper description. Basically, this video takes you through the basics of the process I use to evaluate and mitigate the risks involved in conducting solo hikes in the New Hampshire Back Country. The start of the video reminds me of the wooden walking path at Roger Williams state park in Rhode Island. It's my home state, and every spring throughout grade school we'd have a class trip to the zoo there where I used to love walking over the walkway through the streams and ponds. I can only imagine how much you're struggling right now. Please know that your videos are appreciated as is the kindness you show others. I hope that this year you're able to heal, and that you find good people who'll help you cope.
Thank you. This was Turkey Creek Nature Area in Niceville FL. It is right next to the hotel I stay at when I travel down there for work. Some of my older videos show sections of the Florida Trail which are near there as well. Sadly that will likely be my last time down in that area due to work changes. I enjoyed that particular boardwalk in the mornings.
I'm so sorry, man. She sounds like she was a real sweetheart. You are, too. My sincerest condolences. Pemi is so adorable. It's really heartwarming that you carry them along with you, especially in remembrance of your loved on. My plushes help me cope with a lot of sadness and loss, too which is why they mean so much to me. I'm sure keeping your friend with you would have meant a lot to your love, too.
Thank you! Pemi was very special to us both and I'm sure she would appreciate it.
Subbed for the plush. Such a cutie! <3
Thanks! Yea, Pemi is super cute. If you go back a ways in my videos, you can learn the history of why he comes with me on all my hikes these days. Specifically this video: th-cam.com/video/R9LVXZC9M1o/w-d-xo.html WARNING! Have Kleenex handy.
Ah, good times. Back when I wasn't extremely socially awkward... And I wasn't as tall as Keiran.
Yea, that was great times. New Years Eve was cool too!
We bailed on a Presi Traverse on the slopes of Adams - the mountains tell you quick if it's gonna be your day!
Especially the Presidentials!
Handwarmers on your battery banks, boys! 😂
There are a couple of good solutions for this issue. One is, of course, handwarmers (I prefer foot warmers since they have adhesive). Another is to make a reflectix pouch to hold the heat in, or a neck pouch so you can hang it inside your shirt. What I like to do is used my qi charger battery bank with my iPhone in a pocket. It produces heat as well as charges the phone, keeping both warm and ready to use.
That whole network of trails is something I've barely touched. One day.
I found myself wishing I had done it sooner. My wife's mobility scooter could have explored that area well and we might even have been able to overnight together. We didn't find many areas like that & I didn't know it was there. 🥲
Hey looks like you got some traction with this one. Risk management is definitely something you need to think about. I'm probably on the upper end of Moderate with the occasional drift into High depending on the circumstances.
For me personally, to go above Moderate risk I need some good reward beyond just views.
That is stay at home weather in my book. Wow. Looks very frigid.
It was definitely much colder than predicted. When the full video comes out, you can see how it turned out!
Brisk!
Just a bit. Full video coming soon.
A different mustache for every video. Yeah it's wild how busy Lincoln Woods gets at peak foliage. I pulled into the lot around 11 PM on a Friday a few week's back and it was probably half full. A mix of folks in the woods and folks in their cars.
Yeah, I met somebody who said he slept in his car there. Pretty sure you’re not supposed to, but whatever.
That's a nice little hike. Gives that nice view over towards the Hancocks and Bonds.
It was a little early for peak colors, but there were still some really gorgeous pops of color along the way.
Love it. Hope your doing well up there! <3
Nice video! Was nice meeting you on North Carter ⛰️
You as well!
How was it ??
Had a good time for sure!
Weeeeeeeeree
And it is !!!!!
Just a fun little bit
Thinking about hitting this up this weekend. Is there a good amount of parking on Tripoli Rd?
The parking lot that we parked at was rather small. I would say it would hold maybe half dozen cars. There was also some parking on the road. It could be accessed, but not much.
Thank you ❤❤
Not sure who you are or what specifically you are thanking me for, but based on the content of this video, all I can say is you are welcome!

That Boot Spurr section felt like something out of a Tarantino fever dream. You’re collecting a lot of peaks this summer!
I’m trying to finish all 48 for summer for the four seasons list. I have two more to go, but there are videos that haven’t dropped yet.

I laughed when you said "it's all downhill from here." That stretch is no joke!
Yea, the care taker at Kinsman Pond seemed very concerned and asked if we were familiar with the descent down South Kinsman. He seemed worried for some strange reason.
That was a very touching tribute.
Thank you, sir
❤❤❤
Absolutely amazing!! God bless you on this life's journey. May His comfort see you through each new day.
Thank you. I thought I was mentally ready when it happened. I was wrong. But God is still there with me in the midst of my mess.
❤👼❤👼❤ David, this beeping such a smile to my face. And i know it did the same for her looking down on us
Yes, I'm sure she appreciated the love shown by all her friends.
Beautiful start of the day for sure! All around great day!!
It was a great start to the day for sure. Some of the best stills I've ever gotten off that sunrise.
I love that ridge hike. Looks like you had some great weather for it. Love seeing the snow hang on (glad I'm not walking on it).
Yea. At one point, one of my feet missed the packed rail, and I basically went crotch deep with one leg. It was not fun, but overall the hike really was a good one.
Looks like an excellent trail for an adventure
It absolutely was a great trail.
That was quite the climb!! Sure do get rewarded with some amazing views though! Awesome!!
Yes, that was a beautiful weekend for sure!
❤❤
Glad you <3 it!
It would be a damn shame to shave off that moustache.
Well, that’s a pretty clear opinion!
A beauty of a day and a very unique look...not many people are able to pull that off! Keep it and those who can't...weep! LOL Sure are some amazing views!!
I've been told it needs either mutton chops or a beard of some kind. Think I may go with a goatee and shoot for a Three Musketeers look.
One of my favorite mountain, Not to surprised with the how much snow is still up there…. I hiked the Glencliff trial yrs ago now I mostly hike the Gorge Brook Trail. Glad to see you back on trail…god bless
We did gorge Brooke over the winter, and that was fun until we popped out a tree line and got blasted by the wind. I’ve also done the carriage road. Hoping to get Beaverbrook knocked out, but only when it’s not gonna be icy.
It's been years since I've last been on Monte Rosa. Never got to the summit, tho. Kudos!
It’s not a huge climb, but it did definitely have a spectacular view
Howdy from my chair back in Germany. How are your legs after climbing the summit? Treat yourself to a rest and end enjoy the view
Not too bad actually. It's only a 4.75 mile hike including the side hike to Monte Rosa.
@@hindsfeetonhighplaces Neat, that is doable. The last place I was hiking at was in France in the Vosges mountains. Mountain places are nice. Serene
Like where is that and why is it important 😞
Monte Rosa is a sub peak of Mount Monadnock in southern New Hampshire. And it is important because it was the first time I made the side trek to summit it.
I've been to Mount Washington from visiting Vermont, and drove over for the day. You have good legs I'd say.
I just donated
Awesome! I was unable to do that hike last year due to issues with my wife's health. I'm planning on trying again this year.
Awesome dude🎉❤
Thank you sir!
WOW THAT IS GORGEOUS
It was a spectacular day for sure. The wind was BRUTAL though.
That looks fun
It didn't shave off as much time as I thought but it WAS fun. Had to hit the breaks to avoid playing "hiker bowling" a few times!
It looks freezing
It was definitely below 32F so it was "freezing". But I love winter hiking and with the right gear you can keep the cold at bay.
Gorgeous view also nice mustache
Thank you!
Your mustache is majestic
Thank you!
So, so sorry to hear. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May the healing hands of Jesus see you through these times.
Thank you very much. My faith that tells me this is not forever, but only for a time is a great comfort right now.
So sorry for your loss. I hope you find comfort and healing in nature.
Thank you sir. Yesterday was her memorial service and it was tough. But as my personal scripture says "God is my strength. It give me feet like the hind and lifts me onto my high places". It is on the high places in this world that find God and comfort.
Amazing to see these areas being hiked and explored! Not sure if I could do such things now, so great to catch the experience and views that others enjoy!! Awesome!!
While it was a long hike, it was not a particularly technical challenging hike. The initial up on the cog trail was relentless and unforgiving, but from there it was pretty easy. I don't want to say "you could do it" because I don't know what challenges you face, but as Aislinn would have said on her channel, "Chase your Dreams, Challenge your limits, and choose Joy."
