1. As a tourist to S I would like to be taken on a Mosaics Tour. 2. Hooray for the guy who stood up for his right to enter his own house! 3. Just in case you don't know, Lex Fridman actually does 3 hour interviews with people of interest such as Zelensky and Tucker Carlson. 4. All the best for 2025🎉
I love the mosaic tour idea! There used to be something like that... not sure if it's still going. I'm also listening to the one episode with Milei from Lex Fridman. Super interesting! Thank you so much for listening and supporting ❤
Tar crossed lovers indeed! A great idea and one for us to use! I have red food coloring, point the way ❤
⚡
Haven't seen any ads yet, on TH-cam 🎉
Great, thanks for letting us know 😁
Happy new year guys - a great start to 2025 🎉 A little giggle... In Fijnbosch it happened one day, A bush buck went quite astray, It bucked the system, It jumped the queue, And all just to get some of Greg's famous brew!
Ha ha! That's awesome! Thanks so much and Happy New Year to you too!
A small town in the states, sold their potholes to their romantic public in the run up to Valentines day. For 50 bucks the council filled in tbe pothole, painted a red heart over it and wrote the initials of the two 'Tar Crossed' lovers who paid for it. So it stayed until time faded the paint!
That. Is. Amazing. 😂😂😂
What a well produced podcast, informative and fun. Excellent job.😀
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the feedback and encouragement 😁
Loved listening to your podcasts this year. Great banter, humour and info. Here's to 52 more in 2025
Thanks Mark! We've loved doing it hey. Also hope we'll grab another 52 in 2025!
In Gardenia St Carlo a resident asked the road workers on the N2 what they do with the stripped tar. They replied that they dump it (far away) He asked them if they'd dump in his street to which they replied yes. He then fixed potholes and heavily washed away gullies. Many people on our local group wondered/questioned why the Muni could not use this material to repair potholes. The repairs are great by the way. Carlo owns a fair amount of potholes now 😜
Carlo the pothole King! That sounds brilliant and like a pretty doable solution. Perhaps we should just dig up the N2 😂
When i first moved to Sedgefield, 19 odd years ago, it was Mario Ferreira who drove around as Santa Claus and handed out sweets. When Mario retired his "ho ho ho's," Lions gave it a bash and did it once or twice. But Fanie has raised the bar to superb levels, and although I did not get to see the actual parade, the pics looked amazing.
Oh cool, I didn't know the history behind it at all! Another great thing Mario has done. What a win!
Very good Please bring ward1, 2 cllrs leveal and cleon on the show to discuss IDP projects
Thanks so much! Great idea. We often ask them for updates on things and they've been happy to send voice notes back... If you've got some specific questions about IDP projects let us know otherwise we can get some general updates about them.
The “Shrek” float was actually the Grinch 😂
Codename Shrek then. Ha ha. Tami also just told me!
Thanks for an awesome year of This Week in Sedgefield!!! I've loved every single episode!!!
Thank you! So happy I get to spend all these weeks together here!
The one in George is called the Powervan, it used to be the inspection vehicle. Thanks for the year's informative and entertaining broadcasts😄
Oh cool! I didn't know that! Thank you so much for the listen and the comments!
In more than one way 😂😂😂
😂
Thanks, Guys! Another great, entertaining and essential compilation of what's going down in our back yards. I can still smell the pies! But you seriously didn't expect 'his royal highness, the worship' la mayor to reveal to his voters that all the lovely improvements in his constituency, are not of his own sublime imagination and efforts but rather the evil of 'conscious capitalism' at work, did you? You don't want him to raise a motion for his own VONC now, do you? Nah, thought not! Thanks for my weekly Sedge news 'fix'! Keep it up, and Merry Christmas to you both and families!
Thanks so much and the pies were delicious, as always 😂
Merry Christmas to you both... 🎄✨✝️
And to you too!
🌲⛱
Mr Mayor and his cadres want all the credit.
Certainly feels that way 🤥
Studio 42 will be sorely missed.
It's quite sad really!
I think it's great that people pick up litter in their area and surrounds. I wish they would do the same with potholes. A simple ready mix and a team of neighbours can easily do it. And yes, I know many will say, "But I pay my rates and taxes," but I think for peace of mind and some feel good stuff, it can be done.
I remember a press release of sorts that said as much a few years back. I think we might still be able to buy the mix at Build It even...
Revive Sedgefield are tops!
Yay to the Lions! And thanks to ya'all for your singing and music talent!
Another spivvy report back ...just noticed no shortage of honey suckers doing the rounds on the Island ....just saying 😊
😂 Thanks so much and I think they've really got their work cut out for them!
The very best way to get the news! Thanks guys 😊
Ah thanks so much!
Really enjoyable and informative! Thanks, and keep it up, Guys!
Thanks so much!
Outstanding episode. Love the council clip.... I guess democracy is never a smooth road. You would however expect elected members to show some leadership and act like actual grown ups.
The potholes attest the fact that democracy is not a smooth road! Crazy how the system gets manipulated to benefit the politicians over the society in many cases though. Thanks for the listen and a good point!
Great podcast as usual guys! Please would you do a talk about the serious littering issue in Sedgefield ... on our pavements, our green belts, our beaches, etc. It's a very sad indictment of society today. People who do it simply have no common decency and do not care for preserving the beauty of our natural surroundings. Spot fines and community service for offenders are essential measures. I retired to this beautiful area a year ago and now find myself having to regularly walk around the streets and green areas of my neighbourhood with a refuse bag to tidy up other people's mess.
It is such an issue that we actually spoke about in the one episode that didn't record properly. It's definitely worth revisiting! And thank you so much for doing your part and picking up the trash as you go!
Super and thanks again👋
Inspector Clouseau: “Does your dog bite?” Hotel Clerk: “No” Clouseau: [bows down to pet the dog] “Nice doggie” [Dog barks and bites Clouseau in the hand] Clouseau: “I thought you said your dog did not bite!” Hotel Clerk: “That is not my dog”
*checks behind curtain... Lovely weazher we ar aving...
My weekly fix! Thanks guys - pet octupi indeed 😅😅😅
😂 Thanks for the listen Mandy!
Always a treat, guys thank you :)
Thanks Leigh! Always a treat for us to be able to have a chat about our awesome town... and Caracals apparently 😂
Loving the history lesson!
Where do I get history pants though?
At the market of course.
So lekker lively again, thanks!😄
Thank you for listening! Stoked you're enjoying it 😊
Funny, you mention toilets.... Lions made an effort to paint and fix the toilet at the Police Station, which is used for counselling sexual violence victims. Within a week it had been totally trashed. I feel for the Muni who have to constantly fix the toilets at the boat launching areas, it's a constant battle with vandalism and downright disgusting behaviour.
Ah no! That's so sad to hear! Golly. What would be the solution? Paying R1 to use them? Blech!
But "what were you sinking about", Bomber?
😂🤣
😂😂😂
😂
Totally enjoyable! Love your bantering and tongue in cheek comments 😂- makes the news quite enjoyable 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks so much! It's so great to have a chat about things we really care about from a place deep set in our hearts. And also make silly voices 😂
Lively, informative, highly recommended💫
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it!
Keep having fun guys
Thanks D! We will definitely do so!
Well done on another gr8 review of Sedgefield this past week - chuckling away 😂
Thank you Mandy! Glad you got to have a laugh and get caught up :)
Put politicians on minimum wage, then lets see how things change.
Great listen... Politicians all over the world need to remember the idea that to lead is to serve.
Thanks Mark! Agreed, it'd be quite a different world if that was the biggest motivating factor.
Ward 2 councilor has three children. A medical aid subscription is likely to be around R10k/m, and on a salary of R25,6k the hardest working councilor is going backwards, and Sedgefield stands to lose their service to the community. Hopefully ward 2 councilor is on the mayco!
She is an absolutely amazing ward councillor! Agreed! This is a great point, thanks.
@@HomeCodedoes it still count if I spelled 'councillor' wrong?
😂 I didn't even notice that! Quite possible it was just my autocorrect that made it right for me!
I always knew Bomber was a Robot!
This explains all the oil leaks!!!
It occured to me that with AI translating the movies, even with the right voice and correct mouth movements, a lot of translaters will be out of work. Someone will probably still have to check the final version, but a lot less people needed in total. Thanks for such an informative channel😄
It's crazy how many people's jobs are going to be changed or made obsolete with AI innovations!
700 Hundred! Congratulations. I remember when I first moved to Sedgefield 20 years ago I could not wait for the Edge to come out. It linked me to my new hometown. ❤
His sister is pianist Tessa Uys
Ah! Well there we go! That also answers it. Thanks so much!
Surname Uys 😊
Hmmm... I suppose it's more correct (as though that's a thing) but it just seems strange to not have Dirk Uys. Maybe because we don't generally say people's middle name and we do with him so it feels like it should be Dirk Uys. Thanks for the listen!
@@HomeCode it's like Jean Pierre
His name on wiki is Pieter-Dirk Uys
Makes sense! And with the Wiki I think that pretty much solves it!
awesome presentation. well done
Thanks so much!
Brilliant pod, thanks! Info, with great humour! Why not vid it, so we can see your obvious enjoyment, doing what you're doing?
Thanks Phillip! We're toying with some ideas. There's something special about a dedicated medium though that we really like. Maybe there'll be some special events and things we can livestream with video though... hmmm...
