Guys, don't make the mistake of thinking that the only way of knowing is through science. There are 3 ways of knowing: Science, History and Philosophy. Know what type of question you are asking. Science - Observation & testing. History - record of events Philosophy - Exploration of Morals & Intangible Truths. Philosophy is the most powerful way of knowing. History and Science help us to understand even more. But not everyone has a microscope and not everyone has an archeology kit. For example, science cannot prove the moral reliability of one of the first u.s presidents. Because this is not a scientific question. This type of question is philosophical. You cannot scientifically prove that someone wore red shoes last tuesday. This is a question about history, and the variety of eye witness testimony builds up your trust in what they say if the person wore red shoes or not. The way we can know how old the earth is: Philosophy - God was there and He let us know. 6 days is too long for God to create what He could in a milisecond. It's beautiful that He did it so that we could learn the value of the 7th rest day and other valuable lessons. Not, "some Scientists think the Earth is old" All of Science agree that the Earth is very old. Only a few fruitcakes think the Earth is young.

Small Correction: Galileo Galilei discovered the Earth's orbit around the sun disproving the theory that the world is the center of the universe.

Or must we wonder if human error took the place of God by mistake or intent?

Where do you feel that the line needs to be drawn between what science tells us and what the bible tells us? At one point, Joshua says that he believes there is an error somewhere in either the bible or the interpretation of the bible. Tim counters, saying that the bible is infallible because it was written by the Holy Spirit. I don't believe that Josh thinks the word of God is wrong, or that he is being deceiving.
