    So just pulled out my blown 350 motor and trans that was 2 seasons old and the new pump shaft seal is leaking or possible the pump seal itself. Is there a better quality seal i could buy somewhere? shaft is pefect no burrs. MY 900 hour old trans never leaked lol. TY

    I dont know much so im asking you . Transmission failed in 36 ft grandbanks classic .trans made terrible noise at 1000 rpm you could tell something broke no go engine still runng . I turn off when i go to start engine siezed.could it be the clucth.could broken parte be responsible for engine freeze.can i fix this by Just taking offbellhousing and driveline

    Hello Sir , I have a ZF 630A transmission in neutral 80 psi when cold, and at 60 psi engaged forward or reverse. 150 psi at +/_ at 1600 rpm and 200 psi at +/_ 1940 rpm. I did the test without filter with the same result. can you guide me to a solution? THANKS

    Hello Chris! I have a question about a velvet drive 1.52-1. 71c. I think. I’ve rebuild the transmission because it’s shifts into reverse very hard. Sometimes stalling the engine. Reinstalled, have the same problem. Mainline pressure is about 135. Shifts into forward smoothly. Just bangs into reverse. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time! Chris Blankenship

      Pressure is too low. It should be 150 psi. It could be a number of reasons.

    Just a question about my paragon P45. How do I replace the O ring on the control valve. I removed the 6 Allen screws on the top cover but there's something preventing it lifting off more than 30mm. I lost reverse gear suddenly and I read on the internet there's an O ring that is known for popping off after a number of years. Your videos are very educational for us here in the south of France.

      Remove the Reverse Band adjustment Bolt then you can remove the top cover

      You were correct about the adjuster bolt and I removed the control valve assembly. One of the reverse band linkages is broken at the bottom and the other one is slightly bent. I have ordered two more from Holland for €80. In America they are $180 + shipping+ 19.9% import tax on the total,to France.

    Hey Chris, I have a question for you. What is the most economical way to have a velvet drive hold up around 700ft.lb. on a twin turbo 1000HP LS engine. I currently have a 10-18-002. Will this one work? Boat is an Eliminator Daytona 23, Arneson surface drive 1.31:1, velvet drive is 1:1. Engine has the potential of 7000rpm. I am building it now, have not run it yet.

      @@halemarine5991 I have decided to add more plates- switching to bronze, grinding the steel plates to .050", going to extend the hub .360" by welding a piece of another hub to it, going to make an oversized forward clutch piston, thin out the bottom pressure plate and last- going to weld the forward hub to the shaft. Total of 11 friction and 10 steel plates. Have you used the blue Raybestos GEN 2 friction plates p/n R577550?

    Just subscribed to your channel..If my starboard engine tends to not find neutral and continues rotating forward is the selector valve at fault or is the older planetary gear with the bushings described in another wonderful video posted..What would be a sign that the selector valve needs service..Thanks

    Hey, I have a hurth hsw 450 d. It’s in a 95 mastercraft v drive. I purchased the boat and on the 5 outing I ran her wide open for about 45 minutes and noticed a transmission temp light. I had a fair amount of transmission fluid in the bottom of the boat. Since the leak was on the input side I switched the seal. I ran her hard and it happened again. I switched the seal a second time and installed the transmission. I’m looking for advice and as much information as I can get. What is a normal operation temperature? And what is a normal pressure? What would you do next and can you fix it 😊

    Which is the better gear, the 1.88:1 or the 1.91:1 gear? I have one of both in my boat and the 1.88 gear seems to go into gear with more “authority” than the 1.91. Same RPMs at idle as well. What was the reason for the ratio change so close like that?

    Have 1992 Mastercaft 190 prostar with 351 and believe it has a 1 to 1 and is slipping when taking of out the hole does that mean the velvet dive is going out prop seem tight and fluid looks good any thing else it could be new to ski boat it’s the family boat any help would be wonderful thank you

      @halemarine5991 just removed and refitted the control box no obvious damage now its working perfectly.....suspect the bolts may not have been properly tightened...strange.

      Noise is normal. Pressure will drop then return to normal 120 PSI.

    Hi Chris, I have seen this too in other trannies, and wonder if the incorrect hose type in the case of a repalced hose can contribute, or the internals of the oil cooler along with long intervals between any oil changes, and maybe even some disc slippage. Cant get the sludge out and almost no private owner removes the screen to clean it. Anyway, you helped me once and sold me parts. Thanks for all you do! I have seen most of your vids, very helpful.     I have run into this situation not just in transmissions but also on other applications, bearing that appeared legit, same numbers, but were copies and slightly different.

    Hi, I'm from Australia and I have a Velvet Drive Transmission Model 20-02-044 Serial No 3121. My PSS shaft seal was leaking. However it was only leaking under load at 1900rpm.I also discovered that whilst underway the prop shaft seemed to be bent. After removing the shaft and having it straightened, we bolted the shaft up to the V drive and again it wasn't running straight. After putting a dial indicator on it again it was running 10 thou out. So we unbolted the shaft coupling from the transmission coupling and machined the shaft coupling. Once we re-attached the shaft coupling to the shaft we placed the dial indicator on it and it was showing a reading of 2 thou. However once the shaft coupling is attached to the transmission coupling and place the dial indicator on it, it runs back out to 10thou. Could this be a bearing or something else in the V Dive that is throwing it out of alignment. I might add that the transmission seems to be running as it should with no clunking in forward and reverse not noisy, and seem to be doing everything that it is meant to be doing. not any different to the other transmission in the boat.
