I bought a 1975 KZ900 brand new when I was 18. I rode it to University, in the rain, and once in the snow. I rode it from Vancouver BC to Seattle without rain gear in the rain, with my buddy on the back. We bought some big plastic garbage bags and made diy ponchos for the ride home. We were crazy, but happy.

Funny could be looking at a Original 1985 Red Deer Alberta Canada Red Deer Yamaha purchase, after Buying from the same store a 1985 RZ350F first year full fairing and last year True Expansion Chambers ,But I sadly got rid of this bike to my roommate and have no idea where it went from there $5995 in 1985 with 0 taxes or dealer fees.

I had a built 85. I also had a RZ 350, as well. It was a single piston bike. Its running too rich.

What size wheels? Curious if you went with non Turbo S brakes to fit under smaller wheels?

I had a 75 KX 400, it was up two teeth on the front sprocket, I was clocked at 131, but with the gearing change it could be considered not stock, but no other mods.
