all that crap does is rob your tone. and one day everyone realized this and how silly it was to have a nasa rig for your guitar and ditched it all. and they went to the simplicity of pedals but now some of these pedal boards are approaching the ridiculousness of the effects racks of days of yore, and when you add amp modelers to boot, you've come entirely full circle back to stupid land

I don't know if it's really all that stupid. The muti-effects boards and amp modelers are just more practical in most applications. A lot of bands don't perform in front of a wall of Marshall stacks anymore. However, I will agree that there is nothing better and more pure than plugging straight into a good tube amp and playing loud. That will always be a thrill.

Pure guitar sounds and great natural tone is ok when you play blues in a small pub for a reduced number of people.Andy Summer and the guys in Police had to perform the music the recorded in overproduced discographic productions. To achieve that, you need a lot of sound processing, ultra sophisticated tech stuff, and all the demanding standards to meet or exceed the needs of the music bussiness on its highest.
