As Remembrance day approaches the public buy their poppies, the veterans polish their medals and people across the world bow their heads to remember those who served before us, those who continue to serve and those who didn’t make it home. For some families they can tend to a headstone to remember their loved one but this wasn’t the case for a lot of families. Some didn’t know the fate of their...

Me too
Thanks so much for bringing these histories . Much appreciated. Rip all our fallen heroes. God bless.
A Colonie cemetery is located in Hermoupoli Siros Island Greece. There are graves there of young soldiers, known and unknown from that period. It is sad to die miles away from your home and not even your mother could leave a flower on your grave.
I totally agree. We take for granted the freedom of travel today. In 1919 to get to France would have been a struggle from England. Anything further afield must have seemed a million miles away. At least we still remember them.
This world of ours is a mess with senseless killings still happening today 😢 over a hundred years ago this was unthinkable that boys so young were fighting in a senseless war😢 some of our future children will suffer the same fate. 😢 will this senseless world ever wake up and live in peace 😢
Sadly it's something that has always happened and always will. The war to end all wars. 20 years later our young had to fight again.
Very moving video - Me & my wife are big WW1 battlefield and Cemetery visitor's -we have spent 3 years visiting many places and will be back on the Somme this Christmas for our first visit at this time of year we will be paying our respects. Keep up the good work .
Thank you Tommy. Where will you be visiting? Have a great trip the both of you.
@@Historythosewhocamebefore We are staying at the Chateau Valvion which was Haigs HQ during the 6 months Somme Offensive -We will be going above Arras and near the Vimy cemeteries 1 day ,Courcelette area -Regina Trench -Stump road & Grandcourt Road Cemetery Schwaben redoubt area Theipval - Our last day will be The Nab area and other Cemeteries dependant on time as we field walk a little too. Back here again June next summer - then we are heading to Ypres ,Reims Champagne region to Verdun for a 14 day tour visit in September 2025 . As you can see we are very much trying to visit and record as many places to help anyone else interested or wishing to visit we have used many others TH-cam channels as guidance for our own holidays and visits in the UK/France/Belgium/Poland/Italy & the USA. keep posting . all the Best Simon & Heidi @TommyAtkinsFrontLine14-18
Thanks for the video .lest we forget.from an old man who lost family in ww1
Thank you it was a privilege to remember our fallen. I hope you've had the chance to visit the grave or memorial where your family are commemorated.
Such a shame the names are blurred and you have not added every name in the comments, as this will aid when doing a Google etc search
Thanks for the feedback Maria. The videos I’ve made are all through learning. I’ve no experience of video editing so for the time being these won’t be perfect but my aim is improve. I enjoy honouring those who came before.
The WWI Commonwealth cemeteries are beautifully maintained. I visited my uncle's grave, in France. Groomed lawns, and flowers planted at the graves. I was very impressed and thankful.
Where is he buried? Thanks for sharing.

Very brave that's for sure.
There is a famous folk song written by Eric Bogle called no mans land, he was inspired by a grave in there with the name W McBride. I’ve visited there many times, its one of my favourite Places on the Somme. RIP.
Absolutely a fantastic song too.
A lovely tribute. Thank you so much.
Wonderful thank you
Wonderful video 😭😭thanks for sharing ❤️🤍💙
Thank you Vickie. Lest we forget.
Brave young men.
Absolutely they will have seen so much we hope not to see.
Thank you. It brings them to life.
Lord bless them all.
Nice words Lee god bless.
Thanks so much for this well made video. In two days I am taking my mother to be reunited with her cousin only 5 miles away. Both ladies are now in their 90s. We were discussing Russell Pym only yesterday. Russell Pym was another cousin of theirs, and my mother still has his uniform wing.
Thank you for your kind comment and glad i could assist in keeping his memory alive. To see and feel his uniform wing wow! That certainly would be something. I've been lucky enough to see some of the soldiers/airmens medals but never their uniform.
Sgt Millar is My Grandparents Grave. Thank you for this.I was there yesterday. Its a beautiful little place. How did you know the story my Aunty told me?
Hello, I filmed this Tuesday. My first visit and it’s absolutely stunning. I do research and on the soldiers and visit their graves sharing their story. As to most it’s a soldiers grave but that’s all most people know so I am hoping to share what happening to our fallen. Did you know what happened to Sgt Millar prior to this video?
@thesomme1916 Hi. Yes it's lovely there. Also the Church door is normally open. Worth a look around and there's lots of books for sale. Just leave a donation. No I don't know alot really as you said I believe it was at the train station. However my grandad lived at glasson . Railway place And in the war his brother went Absent without leave and Military police turned up. He got away through the back window.
@@adrianwade2185sadly it wasn’t open on my visit. Osborne Millard brother had to identify him. Hence why he maybe went AWOL.
Excellent video! A fantastic way to honor those who paid the ultimate price!
Thank you Jim. I appreciate your kind comment. We will remember them!
Thanks for letting me know about this Pte John S Partington was my ex husbands family albeit distant - uncle of husband of grand aunt of my ex husband . I will visit and pay my respects. Thank you
Thanks for this, Rob. Good to know a little more local history. George Lee was my Grandad’s mum’s uncle. Getting the shits while on a Soviet adventure, what a way to go. As my Grandad always said, War is hell.
Thank you for your kind comment. Absolutely War is hell.
