The Old Farmhouse
The Old Farmhouse is a delightful period property which has been enjoyed as a family home by the current owners for the past 44 years. Situation
Heath End is a small hamlet on the edge of Berkhamsted, a picturesque and popular historic market town situated in the Chiltern Hills on the Herts/Bucks border.
With education in mind there is a wide variety of both state and private schools in the area, including the renowned Berkhamsted School with grammar schooling available in Buckinghamshire. Berkhamsted town offers an array of formal restaurants, gastro pubs, cafés and bistros. There are also a number of retail stores in Berkhamsted, including Waitrose and M&S Simply Food, as well as independent boutiques. The nearby Ashridge Estate comprises around 5,000 acres of downland, common land and woodland, ideal for walking and riding.
For commuters there is a fast and frequent rail service via Berkhamsted station to London Euston or via Chesham into Marylebone.
Gardens and grounds
Approached via a five bar gate along a gravel driveway leading to the house and outbuildings, The Old Farmhouse is set within grounds of around 6.5 acres.
The grounds and initial paddock make up approx. 2 acres and are beautifully diverse: from the paved terrace with ornamental features, rose bushes and shrubs to the area of formal lawn divided from paddock land by post and rail fencing. In addition, there are several outbuildings, fruit cages and a vegetable garden, plus a natural pond. Two additional paddocks of approx 3 acres and 1.5 acres make up the whole offering. The smaller of the paddock offers the benefit of a separate entrance and planning permission for a stable block. Its should also be noted that a public footpath crosses the paddock land.
