I'll be sharing my insights that I have garnered from the people around me for the last few months. Please don't take this video as an attack to those architects or employers who pay their apprentices below minimum. Thi...

THE PERFECT ARCHITECTURE THESIS TOPIC | Tips on How to Select Architecture Thesis Topic
มุมมอง 20K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey, guys! In this video, I'll be sharing with you some tips on how to select the perfect architecture thesis topic. In most cases, 5th year architecture students fail to defend their thesis due to the lack of interest on the topic they've selected. To prevent this mistake, we should always pick topics that are close to home. I hope you guys will learn something from this video and can use my t...

STREAT Vertical Food and Trade Park | Architecture Thesis Presentation

Update: thesis defended!
Please advise on how to get my son some work experience, he is an A star student and wants to do an apprenticeship in architecture but very hard to get into the field!
Just wanted to say: your English accent is so great for a Filipino! I'm curious on how you were able to neutralize it. Me, it's thanks to me working in call centers and being into lots of video games. Especially when our first trainer before the actual training really emphasized on our accent. As a result, I really improved my accent and even tried imitating some game characters while doing so. Also, despite my age (turning 26), I still plan to take architecture someday. It's a long story but to sum it up: parents forced me to go for computer science. Didn't like it. Then pandemic came. I used it as a way for me to rest and work in call centers. Then, I was initially an animation student. Was enjoying it. Until my step father recently passed away. My current art school is pretty expensive. So once I get a job again (not in call centers anymore), I plan to be a working student for a college that is much cheaper and offers architecture.
Hi, akizaizayoi4763! Thank you so much for the kind words! I was brought up in a household where we would code switch from time to time and also learned English (from school) at an early age. I do hope you pursue a career in architecture. It's quite of a bumpy ride, to be honest. All the sleepless nights and strict professors will really get to you, but it is worth it in the end. Also, I'm sorry for your loss. Keep fighting! :)
Hello, may I ask what's the reason why we should not choose socialized housing as the topic? this, to enlighten me and I am planning socialized housing (housing) as my architectural thesis. thank you!
Hi, I hope it's not too late to reply. Basically, housing projects tend to involve more laws and it's a lengthy process. There are certain permits, studies, records, codes, etc., that need to be reviewed in planning housing projects. This is just a recommendation, but if you have the time and resources, you may pick housing as your thesis topic. My former mentor also told me to stay away from housing topics and she was right! Hope this helps and good luck with your thesis!
Very informative
Just found this now, your videos were cool! Same situation here. How long did you stay in that firm and how did you look for the next firm?
Thanks, much appreciated! I was there roughly two months and after I resigned, to be honest, I wasn't looking for a firm to transfer to yet. A classmate of mine just contacted me asking if I was interested in applying for an internship in their firm. I applied after a month and luckily, I was accepted! I look for these major factors: 1. Salary 2. Office location 3. Work environment I hope this helps! :)
@@brchitecture3083 any tips how to resign? lol Did you wait for your 2months salary first before resigning?
@@lenard7814 I highly suggest that you write a formal and written resignation letter a month prior to your target date of release. I made a mistake before by resigning via phone call which was informal and a bit rude in retrospect. Don't make the same mistake I did!
THANK YOUSIR!
You're welcome! Happy to help.
I really enjoy your videos from the aesthetic, sound and context. Keep up the good work! ☺️
Thank you very much and happy new year!

Wow!
I'm not sure if this is true but I notice that when you apply as a Junior Architect, your salary is higher? And when you apply as an Apprentice it's usually just like the minimum allowance. In my previous work, I was a Junior Architect and our company is Design only, so I mostly do renders and plans and get paid 400 per day.
I don't know what the requirements are to pass as a Junior Architect but as far as I know, a junior must already have a license. Here, our job title is intern so I guess it's justified to give us below minimum. Thanks for your input!
@@brchitecture3083 I guess it depends on the company you're applying on. Some consider fresh graduates as Junior Architects. 😊 Thank you! Love your videos always
@@darlenescorner Thank you so much for the kind words, Keana!
First yr arki here! Love the video! Any thoughts po about HB10234?
Thank you! I hope you're doing well in architecture school. As for the house bill, I think the head of UAP already voiced out the main concern of the submitted bill. It's just a matter of communicating with the allied professionals and I hope that in the future, we'll have better amendments for our profession.
Believe me.. surely you will encounter so many challenges especially in field construction, field assestments and decisions, inconsistents from plans to actual dimensions, manpower traits and behavior, materials handling, field anticipations, payrolls and site project implementations..not to mention project owner site visits and updating him...
In my current firm, we only do minimal of those that you've mentioned but I'm hoping that in the future I'll experience them.
This is really accurate. Choosing a firm only basing on compensation is not enough. One should consider how the work environment would affect his or her mental health in the long run, especially if one is planning to spend the whole apprenticeship period in that firm. Thank you for making this video!
I agree! It may sound cliché to consider our mental health but at the end of the day, it's what matters-how we handle the stress at work and personal lives. You're welcome and thank you for watching!
I asked my son when he was in high school if he wanted to follow in his dad's steps and become an architect. If he did so, upon graduation, he could join my firm and quickly obtain his architectural license while working on a wide variety of an architect's normal tasks. Upon obtaining his license, I would immediately put him in an ownership position as a share-holder in my firm. He would then be on his way to full ownership. "Hell no," he replied. "I know what you do all day. You talk on the telephone and you go to meetings." Well, he's right. He's now a senior product designer for one of the largest corporations in the U.S. Smart move!
His reply is funny. But I'm glad he's already living his dream as a senior product designer!
Fellow apprentice here. Great content 👌
Thank you very much!
Management was also one of my main reason for quitting a job even though it was convient for me location wise (15mins commute). Most of what they do go against may moral and values and at the end I just cannot take it anymore.
I agree! When it boils down to choosing between your principles and job, I choose principles most of the time.
do you have a new job now?
Such a good video.. Its. Really calm me out of the stress of choosing a Thesis topic
Thank you! I hope you'll figure out which topic best suits you for your thesis.
Just come across this channel , I like your theme keep it up 👍
Thank you so much!
I love your videos!!! I am currently working from home as a junior architect in a firm in our province. I usually do 3d renders or achitectural plans. It's fine but I feel like with this set up, you learn less and not much being guided by your mentors. I'm planning to find a job that requires being in the office when I reach my sixth month.
First off, thank you! In my current firm, we also have a "skeletal" setup. We only go to the office 3 days a week. I agree, working from home not being able to do site visits is unfulfilling. There's no longer a boundary between personal and work time, plus, in the design field, communication is really a must; and as what you've said, our mentor's comments and guidance are important. I hope you find a good architectural firm! Good luck!
aahhh! saw your business permit hahahahaha kababayan pala kita kuya! nag-english pa ako sa isa mong video :( huhu i just wanna say i love your videos! pang international kasi hehe. don't stop making videos, i'm actually looking forward for more, but please take your time :) god bless sa channel niyo po!
ps. hindi ko napansin yung location meron pala "philippines" nakalagay! i guess im not that too much of an observant hahaha!
Salamat sa kind words po and God bless you too :)
went here trying to figure out which topic to choose for my thesis. only to find a simple yet effective video. as an architecture student and and video editor, i find this video so well-made, solemn and peaceful. really helps to genuinely reorganize my thoughts with the help of the video itself. thank you for the tips! :)
Hello! Your comment warms my heart. I was in the same predicament over 2 years ago while I was finding potential topics for my thesis as well. I'm happy to share my insights while I was doing my undergraduate thesis. Thank you very much and you're welcome!
thanks for sharing bro
You're welcome!
This is very sad, but I hope you gained something from this experience! More contents about your apprenticeship please.
Yes, I realized that the reality is sad, especially when you set your expectations high but I think it's part of both the learning process and growing up. Thanks, Cham! I'll try to upload a new video soon.
Wow
Gud job👍
Thank you!
Hi! Can you do a vid about construction supervision? Thank you!, nice vid btw
Hey, Alkeeno. I'm planning to make a video about that but I still don't know when. Thanks!
