Can Bioplastics Ever Compete? | Our Plastic Predicament: Episode 8 #ThinkBioplastic
มุมมอง 21K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Bioplastics vs. Oil-based plastics, who wins? Apart from being better for the environment, can bioplastics truly match their oil-based counterparts? As the bioplastic industry develops and adoption becomes widespread, the functionality of bioplastics will progress. Prices will drop, meaning that bioplastics could soon become the norm. Watch the final episode of Our Plastic Predicament to find o...
But I Recycle! | Our Plastic Predicament: Episode 7 #ThinkBioplastic
มุมมอง 2.9K5 ปีที่แล้ว
Recycling, the silver bullet to plastic pollution? We're not so sure! Recycling of oil-based plastic is not a closed-loop disposable option, and current rates are very low. Recycling is simply a delay before plastic eventually ends up being incinerated, in landfill, or in our environment. Find out in Episode 7 why recycling is not always the best option. . . . #ThinkBioplastic is an educational...

Unsavoury beginnings | Our Plastic Predicament: Episode 2 #ThinkBioplastic
มุมมอง 2.8K6 ปีที่แล้ว
It's science time! In our second episode, we're taking a close look at plastics. How close? Molecular. Plastic is formed by polymerisation. These long-chain hydrocarbon polymers are what give plastic its properties and are also the key to why plastic doesn’t break down. If you've ever wondered exactly why plastic pollution is such a serious environmental problem, this is the epsiode for you. Oc...

มุมมอง 2.3K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In the third episode of our series, we're asking the big questions: plastic, why won't you die?! The reason that we're drowning in plastic is simple - plastic doesn't breakdown. Which means it sticks around, wreaking havoc on our oceans and environment. But why won't plastic break down? Let's find out. . . . In response to the global conversation surrounding plastics and their role in society, ...
Plastic from plants | Our Plastic Predicament: Episode 4 #ThinkBioplastic
มุมมอง 15K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Plastic...from plants? Could this be the solution to our plastic problem? It's time to talk about bioplastics. Plant-based plastics don't use oil which is a non-renewable resource. They also have the ability to biodegrade back into the environment when we're done with them. what's the name of the chemistry song?
❤
Modern feminists…I haven’t even watched this and I can smell the stink on her…
Real reason why we don't see them is because bioplastics are equally devastating to nature. Not all of them are biodegradable and those that are wont simply vanish if you litter forest with them. The share amount of crops needed to replace all plastics to bioplastics would be insane. Growing these crops would result more carbon footprint then it's worth.
I think bioplastic already made many years ago.
The bits are incredibly distracting especially for someone actually trying to learn from the video. It's Great content! but hard to learn from.
Awsome
Yes, but what about the REBOUD EFFECT ?
Isn't all plastic made from plants anyway? Whats the difference between using new vs old plants? The newer plants are more radioactive? Petroleum exists because at one point tree grown wood was not biodegradable, so it just sat there, polluting the environment, until it compressed itself under its own weight. Eventually the planet evolved a life form that could digest wood, but not before it had sat there for hundreds of millions of years. People theorize that PET could take 1000s of years to biodegrade, which is really really really quite short compared to what natural wood had already done
Excellent series
Hi there.. i wanna ask a question.. why does bioplastics needs to be "made" bio-degradable?? Aren't they supposed to be able to biodegrade by nature?? Or is it true that they mostly contain 30-50% polymer? And if so, how is it bio?? We only reduce the use if oil based plastics but it doesn't solve our waste management system.. also... since they are bio... what will happen if they got "magically" stranded under the sea like the normal plastics?? Will they biodegrade aswell?? Will the fish be able to digest them?? And about biodegradable plastics, when will they start becoming "bio"?? Or do they just become microplastics and being blown away by the winds and into our lungs?? Please do help me with these questions... Thank you
Well it was fun
The rain can't get in but the condensation can get out
Emilia Clarke?
Bio plastic is biodegradable only in controlled industrial pits i.e. pla Pla is worse because it is not even recyclable and if kept in open environment then it behaves as normal ppastic
EXCELELNT SERIES
you make awesome videos
so is there any benefit (other than not using fossil oil, I knowm, big one) to use plant based ethene to the oil based? Energy used per Kg or something?
Please make more of these. There are new bioplastic coming to market right now and they are better than PLA. Also your style is fabulous
Wow... can you be more annoying?
Companies that create bioplastic products don't sacrifice margins, because they charge quite a bit extra for them, they sacrifice market share.
0:58 ㅗㅜㅑ point. It seems eco-friendly to make bio-plastics, not oil. However, bioplastics that need to be decomposed by heat are having difficulty in post-production processing. PHA, which decomposes without heat, looks better in the future than PLA, where raw plastic decomposes only into heat. In the future, PHA materials will become more perfect eco-friendly materials.
love it
my technology teacher brought me here lol
GREAT VIDEO!!! More please? 🌿🌿🌿
Very nice Presentation , but are you boy or girl m confused
Thank you! It is really a nice video👍👍👍👍
you're amazing... I laughed out loud several times. Also... great info!
so gggggoooood
Great. You inspire everyone to take up scientific research. We could be roaming in space with scientific research on space travel and a better human existence.
The PLA is not a bioplastic, is a compostable plastic and it need process to be "biodegradable"
Fantastic Push this to the masses!
OilPlastico is a crime against humanity
I'm doing a university project based on bioplastic, can anyone help fill this survey forms.gle/QfEcEoxycVQNRbnw7
You guys deserve more
Thank you , this was very helpful and i love the twin . plz keep making more such videos .
I smell underrated
What is the song turned on whenever mentioned about "chemistry"?
Y are bioplastic not flexible?...... Is there any way to improve their flexibility
I'm watching this series of videos to prep for a class on making bioplastics with kids -- I love them, these videos are amazing, thank you!
Thankyou!
Great Video! It took time to concentrate again after being distracted for the first time. I am highly interested in this tech and have been looking into this tech for past few months and past 4 days on youtube. Google god is lenient on me today I think. Thanks! :)
Oil isn't cheap. Factor in the wars and unnecessary economic hitman as well as long term damage to the environment including the landfills bioplastic it's actually cheaper. Long term. Plus, our monetary system is completely made up. Invented. Our idea of good business has to change because business is ALWAYS personal and more informed consumers are a part of it. I like my version of capitalism not the current without Morality it's done too much damage that is unnecessary. "Slow Death by Rubber Duck" is a good book to check out. Few others. Important to understand what you are buying and why? Precious Plastics is also a good project to check out. Cleaning up the current plastic and manufacturing healthier products is much more logical. I especially like the woman who recycles chewing gum into products... Good video...
Love hoe the mannequins change their poses in each video
PVC is not bio plastic
Hmmm funny. Whole foods has been bought up. Organic? Beware beyond meat and plant based. Monsanto and DARPA have plastic for you to eat. Biodegradable? It dissolves alright, into our food chain.
Your video is terrible, it is not enjoyable for my kids..
nice video, very helpful thankyou !!
Very charming informative presentation on an important subject. Well done!
Awesome! Great video.
