    the majority of First nations children attended no school AT ALL. Many were abused by their parents and abandoned left to fight for their own survival for days at a time while their parents went on hunting trips or just simply went on alcoholic binges... As a Métis Indian I am aware that the alcoholic gene runs in my family and therefore I avoid all alcohol. I do not drink or do drugs of any kind.

    acknowledge your points, but I believe there's room for improvement. It's essential to recognize that in Western education, there isn't explicit colonizing or oppression happening. However, I think the inclusion of Jewish and Chinese perspectives in critical pedagogy is crucial for a more comprehensive understanding. I'm open to these ideas, but until such inclusivity is evident, I find it hard to fully align with the current approach. My belief in universal unity was stronger until recent developments, particularly in higher education, have made me question this. These events, especially as of October 2023, have highlighted some concerning aspects that need addressing

    I finished "Pedagogy of the Oppresses" a couple of weeks ago. It's one of the most idiotic books I've ever read. Warmed over Marx. All about revolution and dreamy-eyed ideas about teacher effectiveness in that revolution with nothing more than a sprinkling of anecdotal evidence, none of it credible. It's extremely repetitive as if repeating assertions of oppression and domination makes it true. It's not in any way a serious attempt at knowing. Pure dogma is all that's there.

    The government's goal in the late 1800s was not preparing the children for higher education? Wow! What century were you born in? I guess you don't know about the high illiteracy rate across Canada at that time and later. How about teaching the children a new language that they would need in a white man's world, how to read and write and how to do arithmetic? They were taught all those things.

    My wound healing looks about the same I am on day 30 now. What worries me is that I can barely flex my wrist and it's extremely painful, pain stretching to my fingers, doctor and physiotherapists say I need to forcefully try and bend it despite the pain. How was it in your experience? How long did it take you to regain the full movement of your wrist? I'd greatly appreciate your insight :)

    • @researcheraccidentally2575
      @researcheraccidentally2575 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this is me. I've had ganglion cysts removed three times from my wrists! I remember feeling very stiff for a bit after my first two surgeries. They had splinted my wrist for a couple of weeks so I couldn't move it. It was very painful and stiff when the splint came off. But it was a different kind of discomfort from the feeling of a ganglion cyst. I did eventually feel the ganglion coming back. While uncommon, it can happen! If you're worried about your healing or the ganglion coming back, definitely talk to your surgeon.

      If you have access through an educational institution’s library, that’s probably the fastest way. If not, a great option is to go to ResearchGate.net. This paper is listed there by the authors, so you can request a full-text version directly from the authors. Often authors have a pre-print version of the article that they can share upon request. (Usually people are quite happy to share!)

    This was very helpful content. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am trying to get appropriate accommodations for a prerequisite Statistics class. The board has told me that they have decided that I don't need to take the class, but they don't seem to understand I will not be able to graduate without having this specific class. I was asking for reasonable accommodations (less homework).

    • @researcheraccidentally2575

      That sounds like a very frustrating situation! I didn’t have to take stats for my current degree (although I still did out of stubbornness) but I struggled considerably. I hope you’re able to convince the board to offer you an accommodation to make the course more accessible to you rather than potentially waiving it. Does your school have an accessibility office or someone who can help advocate for you?
