Bird on a Wire (acoustic)
I've grown quickly to love how this song flows and had a great time playing it on my 1932 Regal guitar. All hail Leonard C.

Sleepwalk (ted's arrangement)

Recently acquired this gorgeous Collings 470 guitar and decided to try a version of "Sleepwalk". I love everything about this guitar! (you can compare with the version from a few years back I performed on my Gibson ES 125 and posted on this channel).

What a guy. Rhodes scholar, songwriting icon, actor and more! He was present in our lives and culture for decades. Here is my small homage to this creative force.

I love this progression and groove so many thanks to AUsher tracks. I bought this Guild S100 way back in the late 70s and it's still a pretty nice guitar! Hope you enjoy this improv over some awesome sounds.

A friend asked me to perform this, so I've finally done so. Very cool tune in JJ's understated manner.

Here is a jazz standard I got inspired to try performing. The iRealPro backing track goes from latin to swing in the "head" sections which is kind of cool. My Collings 360 is not really a "jazz" guitar but it has nice sounds on a variety of music and is very comfortable to play.
Kinda funky pop rock

I like this lead tone from my POD GO so I thought I'd jam a bit with it. Oooo yeah! Thanks so much to "Essential backing Tracks" (TH-cam) for their "Pop Funk Backing Track 120 bpm Am" track.
Grateful for Christmas

Here is a poignant Hayes Carll song about Christmas. I have had none of these experiences, but I love his storytelling style.

Kind of a slap dash approach for playing around with my new Sire "Larry Carlton" model guitar. Seems pretty perfect for this Herbie Hancock tune. Thanks to Kalogeropoulos Iraklis for this fabulous TH-cam backing track!
Acid Surf Jam

I felt like playing my custom guitar (made by my friend Fred Smith) over some surf backing tracks. Just in that mood. And fortunately, Elevated Jam Tracks came to the rescue with some awesome backing track. Enjoy the groove.
2023 blues jam
มุมมอง 142ปีที่แล้ว
The fabulous Kitchener Blues Festival (2023 edition) is starting in only a couple of days. So I thought I'd jam out on the back deck with some bluzey riffs. 'Cause ya just can't say 'no' to the blues....
God Bless the Child

This song has such a beautiful melody around the gorgeous chord structure. I tried to play it cleanly and stay melodic in the solo parts.

Pretty basic blues, but it's fun to explore melodic ideas on a lazy Saturday.

I've been a fan of John Cale for decades. So decided to cover this song from the very brilliant Slow Dazzle album. Playing my Gibson ES 125.
It's still warm and *Sunny* in October!

We've been having some beautiful weather in southern Ontario this fall, so I thought I'd record at least one video out on my back deck while it lasts. Because we know it will get colder throughout this week and next. This is a jazzy song I love to play.

Never turn your back on mother earth (Sparks cover)
I love the sound, which is almost unheard on radio waves 'these days' (I fear; can't bear listening to radio!). Reminds of of the sound of Ray Conniff. Try 'Greenfields'. (It's on TH-cam.)
We are missing out on the Ray Conniff, Percy Faith and the other greats these days! But TH-cam is awesome.
Amazing tone. Great playing
thanks!
Great vibe tone bro
thanks man!
Nice jam, Ted - thank you for sharing!!!
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed.
lovely Ted!
thanks!
Such a beautiful song. Thanks Ted.
thank you.
Thanks, this is a great song.
Glad you enjoy.
Good cover man! You alredy said that the guitar is not a jazz guitar but if you have a good amplifier you should try to reduce the trebble and middle, increase de bass and increase the volum. With this you will get a more jazzy tone.
Thanks for your comments! I am going to put slightly heavier strings on it as well (not just for jazz, but for 'all round' playing).
@@tedparkinson6892 yeah heavier strings would help
Wonderful interpretation. Unique creative style. So beautiful, sweet and smooth. Incredible guitar player with a lot of feeling and sense of groove. Much inspired and talented musical production. A real peaceful and relaxing pleasure to listen. Full of poetry and spirit.Good for the mind and the ears. Big big big like for this fantastic perform and brighting sharing. Splendid and luminous.
Thank you very much!
❤
Badass jam man
Really nice Ted. For those of us who don't know music as well as you, could you add more notes about the song itself?
God Bless the Child was Billie Holiday's signature tune, but it has been covered by many other folks. Holiday wrote it with Walter Herzog Jr. "In her autobiography Lady Sings the Blues Holiday indicated that an argument with her mother over money led to the song. She stated that during the argument she said "God bless the child that's got his own." The anger over the incident led her to use that line as the starting point for a song, which she worked out in conjunction with Herzog". Liza Minnelli does a nice version as part of a special. I tried this with three or four guitars to get this specific sound.
Beauty🤩
A year later, I still love this performance! Thanks so much, Ted! :) <3

I've been a Nicky Hopkins fan since the early 70s ... always great sounds for the ears! Thanks for the memories guys!
Ted, you sing it well and it's beautifully funny. He shrugs off the world and stays close to home. Very relatable.
Thanks so much!
BTW, I'm playing a Waterloo guitar, and wearing a Waterloo guitar t-shirt!

truth BY GWENDOLYN BROOKS And if sun comes How shall we greet him? Shall we not dread him, Shall we not fear him After so lengthy a Session with shade? Though we have wept for him, Though we have prayed All through the night-years- What if we wake one shimmering morning to Hear the fierce hammering Of his firm knuckles Hard on the door? Shall we not shudder?- Shall we not flee Into the shelter, the dear thick shelter Of the familiar Propitious haze? Sweet is it, sweet is it To sleep in the coolness Of snug unawareness. The dark hangs heavily Over the eyes.
Great Work Guys! Esp. the piano :)
