Charles Tart, PhD (born 1937) , is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA; Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of California at Davis; and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Noetic Science. He is also a transpersonal psychologist and parapsychologist. He has done fascinating work and research on consciousness, parapsychology, altered states of consciousness and (OBEs) Out of Body Experiences.

Charles Tart, PhD (born 1937) , is Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto, CA; Professor Emeritus of Psychology at the University of California at Davis; and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Noetic Science. He is also a transpersonal psychologist and parapsychologist. He has done fascinating work and research on consciousness, parapsychology, altered states of consciousness and (OBEs) Out of Body Experiences.
One of his most known cases, is that of Miss Z. Miss Z was his subject in an experiment, and she had confided in him that she had OBEs. He placed her in an EEG in a sleep lab and a five-digit code was placed on a shelf above her bed. On the 4th night of this experiment she gave the number correctly. During this time of the possible OBE, there was also abnormal EEG activity.
