Still coming back to this beautiful song, been through so many life changing events since i first heard this in a restaurant movie theater with my ex wife, l had no idea what this movie was about we just picked it because of the show time. By the end i was in tears, will always be one of my favorites.
“It was an enchanting old ruin…” “…but I never got to see it again.” Inspired by the Writings of Stefan Zweig Born: Vienna, 1881 Died: Petropolis, 1942
One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard from one of my favourite films. My mum passed away in late 2021. We watched this film together around a month before she passed, she wasn't a massive film watcher, but was beaming from ear to ear at this film, I always cherish this as one of the last moments of complete peace and happiness with her. This song reduces me to tears with both joy and sadness when I listen to it. Amazing what art forms can do to you.
This song is perfect for when the first snow falls ❄😀
Finally, some great music I can blast at full volume.
It was only because of this piece of music that I watched the film, because like other pieces of music, I liked it so much in this film. :D
Love the movie, love the opening theme song, it's so beautiful
This song reminds me of the song that plays at the beginning of Werner Herzog's film Heart of Glass. I wonder if it was intentional.
Slow yodel. Slowdel.
is there any way we can listen to the whole Appenzeller Zäuerli album for free?
*"we were happy here, for a little while"*
I’m a huge fan of Wes Anderson’s movies and more importantly his vision. Not only can he captivate me for hours on end, but I always seem to want more each and every single time I watch his films. Truly a generational talent and has a made an everlasting imprint on the way I now watch movies.
I am honoured to be a Family Member of the Writer of this wonderful Song 🍀
Did he just throw my cat out the window the three sisters I don't think so 😂
I want my life to end to this song
he took his dinner alone
Does this style of singing have a specific name? I would like to listen to more such music.
it's called "zäuerli" and comes from a small part of Switzerland the canton of Appenzell.
@@rickymartin4457 Ah thanks!
@@cowmustard7848 you're welcome :)
Any recommendations on songs similar to this?
Listen Appenzeller music :)
the style is called "zäuerli" and usually is sung in the region of Appenzell in Switzerland.
Literally my favorite movie of all time
I Love this song! ❤
anyone here from the bench in the air meme
Cat on Chair
Beautiful song, it reminds me of my childhood when I watched Européan films and listened to these sweet melodies as background music. From Trujillo, Peru, his friend Quique.
I wish I were ever born
Yodeling is such an underrated art form. I love this composition Wes Anderson compiles the best soundtracks in every movie that I’ve ever come across
Adapted from Popol Vuh's intro for Hezog's "Heart of Glass". th-cam.com/video/kaKnItn0x1I/w-d-xo.html

Nice schweizer Produktion. Lob an Vera Bommer.
Sometimes the beauty of the world 🌎 is so quietly profound it makes you feel pure joy in your heart and this would be the soundtrack to that sublime state of bliss that one day I hope we all achieve. 😘
This song is beautiful, the man who wrote this is a genius
"It was an enchanting old ruin... But I never got to see it again..."
Does anyone know where I can buy some sheet music for this? A small choir would be good.
When this plays at the end my lacrimal ducts open spontaneously
Maravilloso. Me recuerda al inicio de "Herz aus Glas" film de Werner Herzog 1976.
This is what I imagine that the Alps would sound like if they could sing.
but the Alps *are* singing ... just close your eyes and listen 🎶
Great Song. Great Movie. Great Opening. Never will forget this
Yolo yolo yolo
Schöne Stimmen und Melodie
"It WAS an enchanting old ruin... but I never managed to see it again."
For me, among the most powerful lines out there, it evokes sadness for some reason.
Zamir A. Hernandez wu
Zamir A. Hernandez I couldn't agree more. It's a testament that our unexpected connections with people, places and things, no matter how brief, can stay with us forever
My favourite Wes Anderson movie ever!!!
@@tonybihn132 Mine too 👍
Wonderful music.
were you ever a lobby boy? what do you think? well you had to start somewhere. go light the goddamn candles!
what s great and beautiful Film!
The beginning of the end of the end of the beginning has begun. A sad finale played off-key on a broken-down saloon piano in the outskirts of a forgotten ghost town. I'd rather not bear witness to such blasphemy. ~Said the faint glimmer of civilization, M. Gustave H
I'm afraid that's me darling ☝🏼️
Love Gustav H!!
There are still faint glimmers of civilization left in this barbaric slaughterhouse that was once known as humanity. He was one of them.
What more is there to say?
This scene made me cry my eyes out.
I sing in a choir and I have to say that this song has got to be one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard.
Ah, that opening scene where the girl walks through the cemetery and you hear this theme. Tears. And thinking of the Austro-Hungarian Empire that this film brings memories of
You must then be goddamn old to have memories of Austria-Hungary.
After the end of the AH empire, the vast land of central Europe was torn apart in wars, holocaust and years of communist rules. The pain can still be felt today--the most west part of the Ukraine, was once territory of the old empire. It's center Lviv, which was called Lemberg in German; was the fourth largest city of the empire. Polish, Ukrainians, Germans, Hungarians, Jews, Armenians lived relatively harmoniously in the city full of culture. After that, it was a constant change of regimes, Nazis, forced immigrations and emigrations and brutal communist rules. A great tragedy indeed.
@@nagatomutsu844 is there any lyrics to this song or is it all yodelling
@@kingseiryu929 I think it's pure yodeling.
@@nagatomutsu844 Well TGBH is my favourite film, and it does romanticise The Empire, as did Stefan Zweig, the godfather of the script, but to say that everyone lived a great life there is not true. Imperial rule (with no exceptions) always priorities the high class society, the poor and weak suffer the most under an emperor.
This is _so_ calming! Thank you for uploading!
Thanks for your post.
